Am I eating too much?
Nicky VSG replied to nsantoro126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are at the famous 3 week stall. About 3 weeks post ops folks go into this stall were they either stop losing or some even gain a pound or 2. Your body is trying to play catch up from on the drastic changes it has had. I nearly lost my mind during this stall because it did not make since to me. I was only eating 500-600calories " how can I not lose weight". All though I research and read that others experience this stall it still was hard to take. Just keep tracking, exercising, and drinking. You will get through it. As far as the 8 oz of yogurt goes... I would measure it just so you don't stretch things. I hope this helps. -

DJ you fluid and protien intake are really high in comparison to mine and others. Did you Doctor say why it is so much more. Mine is 64oz and 60-80 grams of protein. Interesting to know.

The Atkins shakes made me sick after about a week. Had gas and diarrhea. Premier shakes are better to me and have more Protein. But I know some that love the Atkins so you will just have to try them to see what works for you.

I found that people are really nice here and very informative. So you came to the right place. I had my surgery in Nashville, TN and my dr was great. You live near there? -
Any other July 1st sleevers home?

First I want to say that this string is the main reason I love this app. Just when you think that you are alone in something you are experiencing someone starts a topic that totally relates to you. THE STALL! I was stalled for about 10 days or so and completely had an mini freak out. Glad to hear that others have had this experience. Got on the scale yesterday and drum roll please....I saw some movement (almost 3lbs). I am having the same issues that most of you have identified- Fluid intake only around 40-50oz , calories only at about 400 or so and exercise is minimal(I did some dancing 2 or 3 times this week and did some walking at the farmers market. Another question for all- you guys getting in your Vitamins? I really have to push myself they are all chewable and I hate the taste. Pre op they tasted great but taste buds seemed to have change. Pre op W- 251lbs SW- 243lbs CW- 219lbs Total WL- 33lbs -

I had the same problem with Atkins. Premier is sooo much better. None of the same symptoms. I found them at Sams -

This sounds like dehydration. Getting in your fluids will help you feel much better. It this continues please call your Dr. It could be something serious. I hope you feel better. Remember it gets easier. Hang in there.

I am glad you are feeling better about it and having less pain.i was given instructions and paperwork on how to do it as a part of my release from the hospital. The nurse sent me home with all the tape and gauze needed and a bottle of peroxide. Once it was removed I was told the clean it with a qtip and peroxide 2x per day and redress. It is amazing that a scare so little caused me so much pain.

I have had the worst taste in my mouth for the last few days and my pee smells weird. From what I am able to see online this is ketosis? Anyone else experience this? I have also noticed some muscle cramping which is a little scary. Trying to figure out if something else might be wrong.

When can you "try" steak?
Nicky VSG replied to Disco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would consult your dr. But will share what my dr. Told me. 6 months before I can have beef or pork. I think that has to do with digestion but also the fact that fish and chicken have less calories and fat. Hope this helps. -
I was told if the drainage has a bad smell that I should call the dr. I am not sure if that is normal. My drainage had no smell at all.

July 1 sleevers- are we getting ready?
Nicky VSG replied to ewhitt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone still have a drainage that had surgery on July 1st? That is the worst part for me. I still can't get all fluids in. I am know where near 64 oz. -
It's funny that you are concerned about the catheter because that was my concern as well. This is also my first surgery ever so I completely relate with the nervousness of that too. The catheter is put in while you are asleep and I promise it does not hurt when you wake up . You will appreciate it the first day after of surgery because you will not have to get up and down to go to the bathroom. They removed it the day after surgery and that is uneventful and fast that there is no pain involve. Believe me when I say that you will have so much other stuff going on that you will not remember you have a catheter.

6 days post surgery and I feel hungry. First day I have felt this way since surgery. I hate protein shakes and sooo tired of Popsicles and broth. I've heard of head hunger but this feels like regular old I need to eat hunger. Seems like forever before I will have food again. Need some encouragement and advice from my fellow sleevers.

I have a prescription for omeprazole but haven't felt any stomached acid or reflux so haven't taken any of them. Maybe I will try taking them daily. Thanks.

I agree so let me know if you have any specifics. I will be happy to answer anything. Everything is very generic but it gets much more unique to you as you go through the process. Stay in tough and let me know if I can help.
