  1. What is Protein bullets?

I think the Protein bullets are the following: IDS New Whey Liquid Protein fruit Punch -- 12 pkt - vitacost

They are awesome. you can have it straight and its like a Jello shot! very good. or, what i do is mix it with my crystal light lemon aid. If you have a hard time drinking protein chocolate or vanilla shakes, this is a nice fruity change.

I was banded on August 13 and went for my pre op today. All is going great. Found out that the reason I do not feel restricted is because I have the new AP band and its larger than the old bands - my attending told me to enjoy but be responsible. I've lost about 4 lbs since surgery. Its harder but he says things will be dramatically different on my first fill.

    Thanks!

Best to everyone - keep us posted!

  2. Hi everyone, im 8 days out of surgery and starting to feel HUNGRY for real food... thought I was doing well but the SMELLS are killing me. Just feel like locking myself up at times lol... hubby has been real good and waiting for me to go to work until he cooks his steak! I know not long to go to the mushy stage and most of the time its ok, but when I walk outside in the evening and everyone has their BBQ's going, I am so sure they are doing it to tease me...

No pain, no more gas and physically feeling fantastic. Good luck everyone, I know we can all do it. Thank goodness for this encoraging site!

Hey you! hang in there. you are moving to mushies soon. It wouldn't hurt if you started a day earlier but if you do; get something really smooth like "Farina"; and use some Carnation Milk (the evaporated kind, fat free); some Cinamon and Splenda.... mmmmmmm so good! and very filling. For me - the hard part is not drinking at the same time as I'm eating. that is tough. and I miss my coca cola! I love coca cola. I don't want to think about it; makes me want to cry!

  3. Hi guys! I went to NYU today for my esoph and post op incision check. I'm told I am healing really well. The attending told me a few things about my band. As we were told, this band is the new AP band which is why we don't feel so restricted and can eat whatever we want, practically. It is good to still watch what we eat. I am down 4 lbs since the surgery, I am told - but the attending told me that I should "enjoy" my time before the filling but still be responsible. He said he was glad I didn't gain weight because many of the others did gain - once they realized that the restriction is not there yet.

I will say that although there is no restriction, I still feel different. The food feels differently going down - and that isn't my imagination. I'm ok with it though -- we shall see how it goes after this.

    thanks guys! KEEP ME POSTED!

  4. Hi all,

I'm pretty new here, and I just set up my surgery date to be banded on September 11th (I know, kinda scary day, but whatev). I'm extremely scared/nervous about this whole thing. I've been unable to keep off the excess weight that just piled on in college and honestly feel somewhat sad that I have to resort to a surgical procedure in order to get healthy again. I don't want to feel this way because I am really excited about it, but there are only several people in my life that support my choice and the rest just think I should hard core workout and diet. Did anyone else have this problem with the people in your life? How do you overcome it?

For now, I'm just going to kinda look around here and read all of the positive things that people have posted and hope that they keep me focused on the good that is to come.

    Hi:

Another story for you. I was thinking about this surgery in November/December 06. I went to the lapband website and I showed my boyfriend. Asked him to look at and and tell me what he thinks..... How do you like this: He took less than 30 seconds on the site (true); and turned around, looked at my face and said one word. NO.

That was pretty devastating to me but 1 month or so after, my own doctor recommended it and it was all i needed.

So - use the support here and tell yourself that you are not alone because you have 10 thousand friends along the ride with you until and after your surgery as long as you want us.

    best,

    Nilsa

  5. Can any explain what the difference is with this new band and the previous one that people were getting before. We were told the next day after surgery that we have the "AP" band and how much better it was. but i was too weak to ask why. Any information would be appreciated.:ranger:

  6. Hi guys:

I was banded on august 13. I've been on liquids for the most part but yesterday my friend made me some slamming Soup and it had baby carrots, celery, cilantro, tomatoes for color and some chicken broth and dark meat chicken.

I have to admit I had a piece of that chicken. and today I had a hand full of raisinettes. I am not finding myself hungry but being that the past two days I am picking at stuff (including guacomole, yesterday as well), I am a bit depressed today. My band is not filled. I have not made an appointment but I will on Monday when I go to NYU for my esoph exam.

I sort of feel scared and i sort of feel like I am going to fail at this since I have been picking. No excuses. I just tested the waters and I feel bad about it. I didn't go over board but a hand full of raisins here, some chicken there..... you know what I mean?

How are you guys doing? Anyone experiencing the same thing?

  7. Nilsa, I just wanted to wish you continued success on your post-band experience - I am going to be banded in Mexico on 8/28, but then hope to go to Drs Fielding/Ren for support and fills. I understand they do take other patients. I live in Philly so it's a trek, but I think that fills are key, and I would love the support of people who have been through the same journey. So maybe I'll see you at one of those meetings!

I wish you success on your journey!

    Danielle:

keep in touch; let me know your progress. I'm glad its done. every day literally gets easier. it is not just words people say. i wake up every day and feel better and better.

    best,

  8. I cant stand any of them They are all whimps and crybabies. What has happened to the youth of America, They all have tattos!

    Well :

When Jessica talks it reminds me of fingernails on blackboard.

Ashley well end up with a big contract from Klennex

    Dick is just a Dick

Danille is fake, and just gets by on her looks

Eric is the smartest one, But is parinoid.

Jameka is too much into religion

Zach is a big Heman Musnter type, big with no brains.

Why do I still watch this crap?

Danielle has a pretty face but she looks completely anorexic. i don't think she's cute at all. just a face to look at and a slick one at that. you can see a mile away how crafty she is about everything. I guess you have to be that type to win this show. Then again, i'm from NY and not California and from what I see on the celebrity papers, most of them aspire to be that thin. maybe its the look over there. i am not really sure. I am aiming for skinny but bones is out of the question for me, personally.

  9. I watch this show and I get a lot of heat about it from other people in my life because they consider it to be such a waste of time.

besides that though, people hate jen. almost everyone does i believe but i have to say this: i never thought i would ever see that personality any where. I had a friend up until recently who is jen to the tteeeee. I mean the bragging about being insensitive and the narcisistic all about me; look how hot I am thing. down to a science.

I feel sorry for Jen. its all a front. she doesn't even know who she is - trust me.

who i personally can't stand is danielle, dick and amber. danielle is a snake in the grass and I wouldnt trust her as far as I could throw her; if she were in my personal life. dick is disgusting; always chewing on his fingers on bbafterdark. oh god its so gross. he's spitting and chewing on himself; and spitting and chewing; and his prissy little wanna be perfect daughter just sits there and doesn't seem to be grossed out by it. probably off camera she has some stupid habits as well. who knows.

amber is sickening. she freaking cries constantly. there is something wrong with her. in fact, this cast kind of sucks for me. from the ones who are left its hard for me to pick a winner.

i thought it was stupid to leave dick in. eric really did a number there. but its done and now danielle is HOH again.

they deserve it for being stupid.

Jen may be annoying but she's still there..... not so stupid now, is she?

  10. :boredhi everyone.

    i had surgery on monday, august 13. the gassiness was the worst but has subsided quite a bit;

i do want to know from as many of you as possible.

how long did it take before you could breath deeply without feelinig cut off or feeling pain.

everytime i try to breathe deeply, it hurts like hell at the end of my chest, beginning of stomach area; like something inside says.... that's your limit, stop right there!

    any thoughts?:guess

  11. if i am guessing correctly you have been forced to kind of stay on your back.

to be honest, i never like to sleep on my back because that guarantees the picture show, in my case, after i fall a sleep; meds or not.

i sleep on my stomach preferably because it really does make a difference and you dream much less.

i personally don't like to dream; good or bad so for me; sleeping the way i have this whole week after surgery has been tough! but you have to sleep on your back after this operation and there are no ifs or buts about it; i don't like the way it feels when i go off to the side. it makes me nervous and it stops me from sleeping without thinking so much.

it really may have something to do with the fact that you are on your back.

Sidney Potier wrote in his biography about this. his daughter used to have bad dreams; and he told her she should sleep on her stomach; and she never had dreams like that again; so i know i'm on the right track.

  12. I had surgery Friday, August 17th and I am having painful gas pains. The surgery sites are fine except for a little sore when I try to lift up or turn my direction. Does anyone have any suggestions. Also, the morning of my surgery I weighed 230. I weighed this moring and I weight 231. I haven't hardly drank anything yesterday because of the tight feeling I get. I am going to start on my Protein shakes today. Can anyone help me?:help:

oh that is my one complaint. i had surgery the monday before you did. everyone kept saying the same thing. walk walk walk. its true, although you may feel like you dont really want to be walking.

also have someone rub your back while you are holding a wall in front of you. if you have a hubby or boyfriend or someone you can be naked in front of, even better.

i'm very sore inside. i was over my boyfriend's house until today, and his scale said i was heavier also, the day after surgery. today, the scale at home tells me i lost 3 lbs more.

don't do that to yourself with the scale though; its a terrible mind game, especially for women, the way our bodies fluctuate from hour to hour.

wait a while before you visit the scale. you just had surgery and they may not even have you on a diet yet, only liquids until you heal a little bit.

    you will be great!

  13. :ranger:Hi:

had surgery on Monday 8/13. There is no fill in my band; and i find it a bit hard to breathe deeply still but getting better every day.

i don't feel hunger at all because of all the tenderness going on inside. If I am hungry i don't know it yet.

however, i wanted to know about one particular thing. they say sip sip sip everything slowly and only like 1/2 to 1 cup of liquids per sitting.

    I have been doing that -- but since i feel nothing; i wanted to know is there something that I should be feeling; since the band was placed. what i mean is: after having a fill, people say that they can tell when they have had too much;

is that supposed to be the case right after surgery (without any fill)?

    thanks:notagree

  14. Hi,

My doctor was absolutely strict on the patient not having ANY nicotine in their system.

I never smoked and told him so, but the very first test on admission on the day of my operation was a test for the presence of nicotine.

When I asked "Why?" the tech didn't miss a beat:

"If you have a positive for nicotine, Dr. Neal will not operate on you" was their reply.

Wow that is quite interesting. they told me to stop smoking before surgery and I have never been much of a smoker. in fact, my cigarettes get stale all the time before i get to them. there must be a greater reason for not wanting nicotene in the system. I never got the answer either

  15. Hi Folks:

I had my surgery on Monday. Didn't sleep a wink at the hospital because my roommate was a serious case! She called everyone under the sun until at least 3:00 a.m.

I'm doing ok but the gassiness is something. feeling a little constipated and its hard to sleep flat. I feel like I can't breathe when i'm flat. I'm doing better sleeping in a sitting position. Hope this isn't for always.

    Thanks!:ranger:
