Following surgery couldn't do 1% milk with my Ovaltine and had to switched to lactaid skim milk and I've been able to handle that perfecto. Hope this helped.

I had the same problem, certain things just couldn't do post op, so I have to switch my protein shakes and so on. Prior to surgery I was all for premier protein and then right after surgery I just couldn't do it. I have now switched to EAS which I get from target in a four pack and they have a variety of flavors. There was a list of changes following surgery, but never a regret. 6 months post op and down over 120 from day of surgery. Wishing you nothing but the best and please keep us posted!

Chris~ How did everything go for you? How are you feeling? Hope all is well! -
Hey Diva! Not creepy at all, I myself was a little bit if a stalker of the site before I started getting into it and posting. Doctor Singh did my original surgery, and following the hospital stay I switched to Dr. Benetti who is right in the same practice. Doctor Benetti did my revision. Albany Medical center is now suturing the stomach to tissue when they do the sleeve to prevent anything like what happened to me happening to other people in the future, which is really rare! At least, I have been told they are now doing this and started to a month or so after I had mine. I really look forward to your updates, as I'm sure everyone else does because all post, especially local really help us out whether we are just lurking or posting. I truthfully went through hell with my revision, but under no circumstance do I have ANY regrets what so ever. I have never felt better, down over 120 pounds since date of surgery! I'm glad you have finally come out of lurking and decided to post and introduce yourself :-) Do you go to the support groups at all?

That's both great news brick! I bet you and the family are excited!!! Sounds so exciting! Hopefully pictures are to come :-)

Ment 5-8 weeks, my apologies for the typo.

Olah everyone! Sorry I've abandoned the forum since my revision on March 18th, but things have been hectic and have finally settled down a bit, and in feeling a lot better. I've been up and getting out and walking and keeping up best I can with liquids. In the start I needed a push, and Julie gave me a quick swift in the rear so I had to get onto it and drink, which of course I did. She looks innocent, but when she threatens to hunt you down and put you six feet under if you don't get in your 64 oz of fluids, it's scary as hell. Lmao. Jk. Anyways, feeling better and making progress and pretty much feeling better and better each day and it feels good to be finally walking around and getting up for a couple hours a day. Should be back to normal in another two weeks or so. Wishing everyone the best! Brick: Looking awesome keep it up! Also, what's going on with the pup? End up adopting? Julie: Your looking amazing keep up the good work and thanks for the visiting in the hospital and for your support and being there! That visit ment a lot to me, even though I was doped up like no tomorrow! I appreciate the on going support we give each other!!! Cherrie:Thanks for all the worries and thoughts and being there durning the revision, even though your 3 hours away, your texts and thoughtfulness was oh so sweet! I'm so glad you had your official first appointment and trust me, these next few months will fly by!! Everyone else: Keep up the good work, know the preop worrying is totally normal and if you weren't then I don't think that would be normal! Lol. It gets easier. It truly does. Just keep a positive attitude and know there is great support systems out there! Looking forward to everyone's future post and updates! :-)

Yeah some doctors will do it, but for assurance and safety Singh removes and then go back in 8-8 weeks after. He's a great doctor, I just very much didn't agree with his bed side manner following the sleeve so I switched to Bennetti, plus Bennetti is super hot. Lmao. Didn't hear it from me! Lol

Hey Diva, welcome officially to the forum :-) So glad you made the decision to move forward with the revision. Doctor Singh did my sleeve 6 months ago, October 7, 2013. I have since switched to doctor Benetti. Since the sleeve I am officially down over 120 pounds, and that was six months ago. I did have one complication and I had to go in for surgery, but no regrets what so ever. As you can see, ppl on the local forum have had great success. We here in the capital district area have some kick a$$ doctors! I am going to be going to the Monday support groups at 25 Hackett starting Monday, they are during the day. I was attending the evening ones they have every Thursday, but I have decided to switch due to the only little 'click' they have. I heard Mondays are very different. Maybe you can make it. It's truly the greatest decision I have ever made and no regrets what so ever and I've met some amazing people along the way. I recently got the meet Jules, aka the new sleeved Julie from the forum when I had to go in for revision on March 18th, it was so great meeting her in person and we really hit it off. Weve been support and friends outside of this forum which was expected but has been a great experience. And even though Cherrie from the forum in a couple hours away we have really clicked to. It's been a great experience and I say take advantage of the forums and groups and really get involved. You need all the support you can get! Anyone that's had the surgery and knows two plus two will tell you to take advantage of the support. Wishing you the best and looking for your updates :-)

What is the status with the adoption of this pup brick? Hoping all is well!

Newbie:complications with no answers and seeing another surgeon :(
rensterness replied to bamared's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon has heard of these complications, and there really hasn't been anything that reflected the problem. That's when he got more involved with the problems and discovered this. Now when my surgeon does this. As well as a lot of other programs now since he has been so open with it, now they actually sew or staple the stomach to prevent possible twisting down the road. -
I was in the same boat. Didn't know I had sleep apnea till pre testing for surgery. I have anxiety and it went bazerk when I had to wear the mask. I did it because I knew the severity of sleep apnea. Not going to lie, occasionally I would skip it. Three months post op I DIDNT have to wear it and my sleep apnea went away! Keep positive! Best wishes!!!

Newbie:complications with no answers and seeing another surgeon :(

I had a similar situation and it turned out my stomach was twisting when I are. Very hard, sometimes not even possible to see on an Endoscopy and so forth. For me, I went back in on March 18th and had a sleeve revision where they took the stomach pouch and had to take the tissue and so forth and staple the stomach to the tissue and the wall to prevent twisting. The stomach twisting is very uncommon and I was lucky enough to have a knowledgable doctor whom had performed the surgery. I am now feeling amazing and it's made a hell of a diff. Please keep updating as I'd be interested in knowing your progress as well as to see if you have the rare complication that I did. Wishing you the best! I'm signing up for updates on this forum in case you have any questions as well as to see your progress. Best wishes! -
Love it! Keep it up! Back to lala land for me. Lol

Update On My Revision I Needed/had this Past Tuesday: Sorry for the delay, hospital stay was a tad longer then expected and haven't felt in tip top shape at all. I had my revision done on Tuesday. I am still a sleeve patient, once they got in they ended up 'anchoring' the sleeve and adjusting it. Sorry, things have been pretty hectic. I got home from hospital, and am slowly but surely recovering. The pain is worse then what I expected, but manageable with the happy pills they have given me, and they have given me permission to take them closer together do to the pain. I did have to have a balloon cath done on I believe day two (I'm a bit foggy, not sure exactly what day it was). It was a long drawn out process and they had to get 800, which took a lot of tugging, yanking, twisting, pulling, time and so on, tmi I know sorry, but I now have a very bad UTI to add on top on my revision. Because of my Lupus I am placed at higher risk for infection, and this of course happened. I'm doing okay though and sorry I haven't updated, just been hectic with recently getting home from hospital and testing and taking it easy. They had me released with a walker because I'm a bit unstable, and feel a tad fragile, but so glad to just be home.I am slowly but surely getting better though. Patience is a virtue :-) The revision I had is not compare able pain wise to when I got the sleeve, as this revision is very painful and I really did not expect it to be this bad. I am down over 110 pounds since my surgery date of October 7, 2013 and that's encouragement enough for me :-) No regrets what so ever! Everyone is doing awesome, keep up the good work and thanks a lot of all the thoughtful comments, thoughts and prayers. -
So great to see you Jules, really was! And the great part is....I actually remember it!!!! Lmao! They had me on some pretty good stuff (and still do I must say lol), and a lot is really foggy, but I remember you clear as day! Great seeing you in person and you look great! Keep up the good work!

5 Months Post Op, Revision Needed
rensterness posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Ok, so I am five months post open, sleeved October 7, 2013. I am down over 100 pounds since surgery date. I lost just under a 100 pounds by my three month post open date, which was amazing. I felt and do feel like a whole new person. The past 6-8 weeks I've been a bit more sensitive to foods. I still get in my protein, but my food sensitivity is pretty extravagant I guess. Had some testing done, and yesterday and a full Endoscopy where they gave full anaesthesia in case I needed balloon dil plus they wanted to do extensive evaluation on the stomach. Well, the outcome? My stomach is very much twisted, twirled and 'kinked'. I asked myself and the Doctor how the shell this could happen, especially since I've done what I am supposed to and have been so successful! Well, it turns out that because my weight loss was so rapid and successful it actually caused my new pouch and inside to twist and dance. I was shocked, and scared because I've never heard of this. I spoke with the Doctor extensively, and revision surgery is needed. Got the call today and go in Tuesday for surgery. This is not common and happens in less then 0.02% of patients. Just know that losing so much so quickly could have this possible effect, although rare, still possible. Now I will be a revision patient, and have surgery again, and go through it all over again plus more. I'm staying positive and I wish everyone the best. I just wanted to briefly share a little bit of my success story, as well as the negative effect. I will say, NO REGRETS, never felt better! Hope everyone is doing well, pre open and post open. -

So it's not been an A+ at all. My A+ part was meeting Julie in person. The evening was a hot mess, will update tomorrow. At hospital still, need rest. Night guys
