I am going through this same problem right now and I am lost, devastated . I am five months out from surgery and down over 100 pounds since surgery date, now weighing 146 and 5'9. It's rough. I'm have had several test done and am now being told that there is this new procedure which had NO NAME for it and has only been done twice where they think they can fix the problem. Any updates on your situation?

Any thoughts or input on my post from March 4th? Just looking for some thoughts and input. I'm usually always a policies thinker and think of things as happily ever after and blah blah blah but was hoping for some guidance and thoughts on this one. Thanks. :-)

Shell and Girlie~ As a little bit of a relief to yourself ask your doctor or dietician or nutritionist what their leak percentage has been or was last year. I'm thinking it will help you settle a bit . I got a bit anxious about that and when I asked I was relieved, although I did still have a little anxiety about it but not as much as I would have if I didn't know what my hospitals percentage of leaks was. In two years doing thousands and thousands of surgeries there was one leak total. With a second one that was marked as possible leak. That's very low for two years. I'm thinking you will both be VERY suprised with the minimal pain as I expected ALOT, I mean ALOT, and was shocked to realize there wasn't nearly the pain of imagined, more of a discomfort. Following surgery never hesitate to call your Bariatric Doctors office for any concerns or questions, I def did lol. I was at high risk for infection and complications because I also have Lupus and surprisingly things really worked out great. I am now five months out and lost over 100 pounds SINCE DAY OF SURGERY! Your guys are going to do fantastic! And to be honest as all hell, those that have high stress and anxiety really succeed at this because we tend to follow the rules of the sleeve to the T because we worry about complications. So, we actually benifit from our anxiety :-). You both are going to do fantastic!

Also wanted it to be known I am not a patient of this Doctor and had my sleeve done in Albany, NY. I just wanted to throw in my advice to you as I thought it would be helpful. Please keep us updated on your husbands progress. And also please note that an upper GI and an Endoscopy are not always going to show the twisting of the stomach as your eating and drinking problem. In my program this has only happened to one other person out of the thousands of sleeves that have been done. This is a newer problem being discovered with the sleeve.

It turns out there are some things that are not mentioned prior to this surgery, one being a 'twisted stomach'. I have been having similar problems and it's recently been discovered I pretty much have a stomach that twist when I eat or drink, which is from the surgery and did not happen prior. I will be going in to have a laparoscopic surgery where they will now move my stomach and staple it to the tissue or wall to prevent twisting. Wishing your husband best of luck.

As above the staples are your new little friend inside you permanently, although IF there was ever a problem and the staples needed to be accessed it's easy for the doctors to get to. Example..I had the sleeve and it's EXTREAMLY rare for this to happen but it turns out my stomach is twisting when I drink or/or eat. So now, five months post op they will be going back in laparoscopically and removing the staples and stapling my pouch to the scar tissue wall to prevent my stomach from twisting. This is very rare and uncommon so don't let it scare you, just wanted to give an example that yes the staples are a pennant part of you but IF needed to access the doctors can do so easily.

I am five months post op from the sleeve and take daily multi vitamin gummie, and calcium citrate chews from bariatric advantage. To my understanding this is a permanent substitute that needs to b taken for sleeve patients. Majority are also on sublingual b12 as well to my understanding.

I was sleeved five months ago and down over 100 pounds since day of surgery. I NEVER had reflux UNTIL I had the surgery. Even on meds and it's a constant thing. Never had this problem till after surgery. Got rid of all my other diagnosis for most part, but added on the good ol reflux!

Shelley~ So glad to hear your managing your anxiety and stress levels and working on mentally preparing yourself, family and friends. I am just about five months out now and truly realize how much I let my anxiety get the best of me, and take over me prior to surgery. Now that I look back I smirk at myself and say "really Kyle? All that fuss and look at yourself now and how strong you are", then I flip the mirror off. Lol. Shelley, there's no such thing as over preparing yourself, so stay strong and continue to do what your doing and when it's said and done with you may actually say to yourself there is such thing as over preparing yourself and look back and do the same thing I do. I myself have even had a minor complication with my surgery and it's still nothing like I thought it would be. Just for making this decision to have surgery it makes you am amazing, strong person and it will make you such a happier person and your life will be rainbows and butterflies after I can't wait to hear when your date is a really look forward to your surgery and success updates!

A lot has changed for me, I was sleeved October 7, 2013 so I am just about five months post op. I am down over 100 pounds since day of surgery and now weight 145 and and about 5'8 tall. My positive changes?.... *Officially no longer have sleep Apnea and don't have to use CPAP *Back pain has decreased a LOT *I look in the mirror and can actually be happy with what I see *I am a size I NEVER thought I would be, men's 28 waist and size small shirt *People actually pay attention to me *My butt crack doesn't hang out *I know what being cold feels like and don't use the AC in the winter anymore lol *Prior to surgery I wasn't able to have a dog due to the need of walking him which wasn't possible with breathing problems, back problems and so on. Now own a beautiful puppy which I walk daily and spend lots of hyper going crazy together times. *I don't shy away from a camera, I actually take 'selfies' now!! *I don't get winded walking 10 feet. Thanks tons Brick! I do feel so much more alive and happy, it's beyond unbelievable to me! I'm so glad that you had a great time, was sooo looking forward to your picture post! :/ You gonna post some soon I'm going to look at the threat your talking about. Also update on my medical. I've put it aside all day, and did some therapy shopping...well therapy shopping is done and it's on my mind. I am going in for Endoscopy in the main OR of Albany Med on the 11th. They are going to put me fully asleep, not local, but in good old deep asleep land to look inside a bit more and possible balloon dilation. They are thinking I may have to go in and have another surgery to fix this so called problem. It turns out that my stomach may actually be flipping and twisting every time I eat and drink and I may not notice it but when I happen to puke due to food sensitivity this may be why. So what they would do in go back in laparoscopically and remove the the stables and staple the closing of my pouch to tissue or it's surroundings to stop it from happening. This situation is EXTREAMLY uncommon and EXTREAMLY rare, so please don't worry that it could happen to you. I just happen to be one of the possible lucky few this has ever happened to and I guess I've been the lucky one chosen to experiment on with the procedure. When I say lucky few, this is a newly discovered problem that had just been discovered and is very very rare. If it happens my hospital stay will be inpatient and 2-4 days, and they say I shouldn't be in as much pain or discomfort as I call it as when I actually has the sleeve. I personally am not even sure if I will allow them to due the procedure as it is so very new, I just don't know if I am comfortable with it, and I personally don't know if it is something that is %100 needed. I'm confident that whatever decision I make will be the best for me and my health. Not getting the procedure won't cause me harm, I will just have this excessive sensibility to food and beverages, which to be honest I am pretty used to at this point. Everyone stay positive and keep up your amazing work. Always remember everything happens for a reason and even for those that have struggles with this journey, they are for a purpose and it just makes us stronger. Hey, I got an amazing ring today that originally cost over $1,200 for $200! Maybe the purpose of this was for some therapy shopping and to find this amazing deal! Lol. For sh$ts and giggles I posted the pic of my new ring. Personally I think getting some not so of the greatest news was worth it! lol

Congrats Tiki! I am almost five months post op and I know when I hit Onederland I felt so amazing. I know you must feel the same! Congrats and wishing you much more success!!!

My pre op diet was just a 24 hour liquid diet. It's so odd how so many programs are different!

I use my WII Fit a half hour a day, which i sometimes skip, and I use my Ab Roller and do 50-100 sit ups a day, walk the dog, and do a lot of shopping lol.
