why dont u just stay on the pre op diet?
rensterness replied to neev's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had no problem losing 20 pounds, it was keeping it off and not being able to lose more then around 20. I also had health issues from the weight. Not possible to lose 90 pounds in three months a regular diet. This 'tool', the sleeve I got three months ago has been a total life changer. Nearly 90 pounds gone since surgery date, and 20 from pre op diet :-) -
When to start exercising?
rensterness replied to Mom2-3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mom~ I was told the swimming is the last thing approved for because of the stitching or glue, whichever your doctor decides on. It's very strenuous and the water can affect stitching. Programs have different guidelines, just be cautious. :-) -
I am three months and a half months out, sleeved October 7th and down almost 90 pounds and wanted to share a non scale victory and was hoping to hear other. Yesterday for the first time I was able to go Snowmobiling and oh my goodness was it amazing! Attached is a before and after pic as well as a pic from yesterday, hope to hear yours!!

When to start exercising?
rensterness replied to Mom2-3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started with one pound strap on velcro weights from wal mart a week after surgery. They have them for your ankles and wrist. I started heavier about 6 weeks out. Hope this helps:-) -
Protein bars - how many is too many
rensterness replied to BiddyBody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am three and a half months out and down just about 90 pounds. I personally use the Fiber One Protein Bars and they have a nice variety. Shake wise I use the VI protein Mix that can only be gotten online. It is tasty and I usually mix it with milk and a scoop of peanut butter :-) Hope this helped! -
BrickHouse~ Congrats on the success! That is great news!! And thanks for sharing the web page, really appreciate it! Sounds like everyone is doing great! Now, with the bypass at what point can you go to 'normal' food? For sleeve for my program it was 4-6 weeks, depending on your success as well as the ultimate decision of the doctor. If you and Jules are ever upto it and want to meet up at a support group let me know, would love to meet more people in our situation. So glad your doing well! Keep it up!!

Jules ~ Great minds think alike, Wendy's Chili was my meal for yesterday, I still have half of the cup in the fridge as of today lol. I am only able to eat about one fourth of it so I had a bit for lunch and a bit for dinner yesterday. Remember, men lose faster them women! Although I did lose a little faster then even the men tend to lol. I treat myself to stuff I shouldn't have, if I didn't I would be totally screwed. Just today I was dying for a Greek Salad, so of course I needed my fix and I ordered the Greek Salad from Panera off of the kids menu. Boy were those few bites totally delicious! I knew when I are it that it wasn't protein sufficient but I needed my 'fix'. Heck, I have even taken a few sips of diet Pepsi for a fix here and there..shhhh don't tell anyone lol. I stay %110 committed with my water and sugar intake, and 98% with my protein. You sound like you are doing great. Your still fresh so give it time. For some they are still swollen and what not inside at 8 weeks out. My friend who is a revised patient always goes by the number on the scale and finally I said, damn it Tammy we are taking measurements and I got out my measurement and measured away, a week later did it again and she was amazed. The scale is an enemy if you ask me, I personally trashed my scale and committed to only weighing myself at the doctors. You are doing great! Keep it going!!!

As stated really depends on your insurance as well as the hospital requirement. From date of first visit I was sleeved three months later. I had to do blood work., EKG, psych eval, sleep test, urine test (make sure no nicotine in system$, as well as get medical clearance from my Cardiologist and Neurologist. After all this it was submitted to my insurance. I have Medicare as my primary. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and had to use the aching faithfully for six weeks until I could be firmly approved and given a date. All was still done in three months. Stay positive! Sleeved October 7, 2013, a little over three months ago and down over 85 pounds!! Positive thoughts!!

Hello :-) As you know Protein and Water are key! I was sleeved October 7th 2013 and am three months post op as well. I am down over 85 pounds. Keep in mind men lose faster then women. I have stuck with one Protein Shake a day called VI which is a powder that is like a vanilla cake mix, mix it with two tablespoons of Peanut Butter and a glass of milk, bam over 40 grams of protein. When you eat remember, protein first. Don't drink a half hour before or after meals. I use the most basic exercise which is a Ab Twister Pro and you can do it sitting and it minimal effort. Amazing! Men's lose fast then women, but I've given people this advice and they have been very successful. My program count two things when looking at labels, protein and sugars, anything you have keep under 10 grams of sugar. It's been a true success for me. Hope this helps you! Best of luck and please keep updating! -
Jules~ THANK YOU VERY MUCH! That donation and comment on the donation web page was very kind and generous of you! I can't thank you enough!!! I am thinking about doing a Facebook, sometimes there is just so much online drama that I don't even bother, I did use to have one, I think I may have to give it a whirl again! How is the post op diet going?!?

Thanks Jules!!! Means a lot to me! I am, I am asking people to put it on their Facebook since I do not have one, so the word is getting out there slowly but surely. Thanks again Jules!

October Sleevers - Who else
rensterness replied to clefofcividale's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved October 7th, 2013, three months ago and down 85 pounds :-) Feel great and no complication! Everyone looks great! -
I went from working as a home care and hospice nurse which I did for six years, to being a 'client' myself. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, never forget that everyone :-)

It was to late for them to determine when it happened, they caught one in my lunge following the stroke. With a combination of the weight and having Lupus I was at risk for stroke and more, I consider myself lucky as it could have been so much worse. I was told I would never use the left side of my body again and was denied physical therapy because of this and had to do physical therapy on my own through YouTube and learning videos and so on. After a year I was able to have use of left side of body. Glad I didn't listen or I would have given up hope and been in a wheel chair the rest of my life. As you can tell from my photos I have full use of my left side pretty much besides having to wear a leg brace (which I must say I hide well lol)
-
I don't use any of the food apps, but I have found an app on my phone called Waterlogged that I use on my ugh days to motivate and keep track of my water intake.

Hi Jules! I did egg beaters with a tad of salsa, that was one of them and it was total yum to me. Also, they have these small cans of tuna, they come with cracks just throw them away but the tuna is flavored. Very high protein, I love the spivey one! Yumm! I never got tired of it and I'm three months out and still do it! Hope this helped

It was a combination of my weight and having Lupus, it caused a blood clot, seizure and stroke I am 38, happened when I was 24!

I have called them and I have had no luck. It is originally a $7500.00 product and I have been able to get it discounted at $4500.00. I am def going to look into options for donations of things as you mentioned I get so down about it but have to stay positive!!

BrickHouse~ I don't have a Facebook page or paypal account, I am not a hip as I would like to be with that stuff lol. I have heard of the the funding site but have no clue how to do it and call me crazy I get nervous putting my name and bank info online. I know, I'm 'special' lol. I looked it up even more after I read your post to me and it really does seen great but I just don't know how comfortable I am with putting my bank info and all online. I am going to look into it more because it does seem like people have a lot of success with it. The next thing it am going is a basket raffle at my house with some appetizers and what not. There will be things like a movie night basket, wine basket and so on and a 50/50. If you think of other things please let me know, could use all the help I can get at this point!
