Are you gulping?
-
Oh my god Brick I'm soooooo sorry! This is awful! Are you feeling a lot better? Anything in perticiular that effected it? This is just so crappy to go through right after just having the bariatric surgery. Jeeze. Well, make up for Valentines Day you didn't get to have! Well recover first then make up for it! Lol. So glad you are now in the comfort of your own home! Please keep me posted

Glad your feeling a little better! I LOVED my recliner. Try putting two or three pillows behind you in bed and then tuck one in on each side. Food has a whole new meaning after surgery...meaningless lol. Well for me it did, ppl differ though I guess. I was off pain meds a couple days after being home ( I was in hospital though for four days, not one). After a couple days of being home I didn't feel the need for them until maybe a week after then when my side was bothering me. Took them for two days at that point. Your left side bothering you is normal, as when they do it they move a lot on that side and flip your liver. That discomfort lasted about two to three weeks, it was discomfort, not pain. Glad you have a supportive boyfriend, my husband (gay marriage is legal here in NY) was not supportive so I had the support of my best friend who also had the sleeve, and a husband who put on a last min act like he gave a crap lol. Thanks for the updates!!

I had this experience for about a week. My temp what up and down, if it gets higher you want to call your surgeon just so they know to play it safe. The discomfort and sharp pains were common for me for about a week. When I slept I would put a pillow on each side on me, and kind of tuck them in. For me, my recliner was my best friend lol. Remember to sip and walk :-) Keeping up with those are key to quicker recovery and healing time! Thanks for the updates

Yay! Home! In the comfort of your own home and bed! Recover quick! :-)

Anxiety prior to leaving hospital was my experience to. I was nervous about new pains and discomfort and so on. Anxious without reason. Once your home in your own bed, recliner, where ever you will feel like you have more control of the situation. The hospital ness they use shouldn't even be legal! Mine was just awful as well. It felt like heaven the day I got home and sat in my recliner and layer in my own bed :-)

Anxiety and getting sleeved
rensterness replied to ShelleyHolt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Shell~ I was sleeved four months ago and prior to my sleeve for many years and still do I have severe anxiety and I take Xanex 2mg three times a days. My anxiety is severe. My WORST fear is dying as well as cancer, which in many cases obviously leads to death. Prior to surgery I was very, very, very anxious and my anxiety was up there. After surgery, while still in hospital I kind of laughed at myself at worrying the way I did. Compared to my worries and anxiety it was cake. I put myself through anxiety hell for no reason, truly. Following surgery the emotional changes have been differcult but nothing as I expected. Once I hit month two I was pretty much good. I've noticed following the surgery I face changes, but they honestly don't seem to be emotional changes as I expected, and I don't find them overwhelming as I definitly expected. Yes, challenges such as am I eating the right thing, did I drink enough Water, do I go to dinner with friends, if I eat this and sneak it in with it hurt me, did I take the meds exactly as prescribed, am I doing this right, am I doing that right, and so on. I am rambling on so I will stop, hopefully this helped a little. I have attached a before and after pic. I take a pic every week and put it in my scrapbook to motivate myself and show myself I can do it! I can! I can! I am down over 95 pounds since date of surgery four months ago. Please keep is posted. -
Katt~ Don't stress yourself, my bowels didn't move till day three, late in the day. It takes time. The problems sipping is very common as well as the discomfort. Your going to pull through and soon enough you will feel amazing! Keep a positive attitude and just remember to try to sip and walk. The walking will really help with your bowel movements and believe it or not with the discomfort in some areas. Push yourself! Your doing great! Your in my thoughts and thanks for the updates! Keep is posted! Best wishes

After surgery my taste buds totally changed and protein shakes sucked, found one , then couldn't do it. Now, I am four months out and since about a month out I use milk as my protein drink. I have a cup of milk (not a milk fan, and I'm lactose intolerant so I use lactaid milk), with a scoop of Ovaltine. I am four months out and down just over 95 pounds since surgery date. As for the gulping there is this bottle called a Camelbak bottle, get it, it is amazing and you will be amazed at the differance. My program really pushes these bottles, and no they don't sell them so they don't do it to make money. I've noticed a huge diff with in and swear by it. You can get them at Dicks Sporting good, even cheaper if you google 'cheap Camelbak bottle'. Hope this helped

The Dilaudid I felt was a lot more effective and I was also able to function a little easier and communicate and not be a total zombie. Granted is is a very strong medicine, I did not feel like a complete zombie, only a tad lol. Felt it was much more effective with the pain. Recover quick!! :-) updates!

You've made it through the roughy part, welcome to the other side! It gets better trust me. I am four months out from surgery. I woke up from surgery with morphine drip button and I was on Dilaudid day two I believe it was and I actually found it more effective. Best wishes to you for a quick recovery!!!

How much did you lose the first 3-4 months? I want to be out of the 200+ Club by summer.
rensterness replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No losers here :-) As belladonna said even the 'slow losers' as they call themselves are pure winners! We all made the choice to change our lives, for the better, and we all are. May it be slow, fast, stuck at a weight, it doesn't matter, WE made the choice and WE will succeed! Great job everyone keep up the awesome work!!!! -
Love it! You really put thought into that! I REALLY like that and think it will be a beyond lovely date night!

Attending school while losing
rensterness replied to Mama Spike's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I waited till week four to go back to school. My doctor said that the anesthesia is in your body for upto two weeks. I tried to go back week two, last a day and took two more weeks off and felt fine going back week four. Hoping you have a quick recovery! -
This was an issue for me to, and still is. My other half LOVES his food! Now we have switched it from Red Lobster and Cocktails to a movie night, game night, shopping night, or even a night out at karaoke and I just don't drink, he may have one. Sometimes our date night may just be planning a healthy meal, but yummy at home, cooking together, candle light dinner and movie in front of the fire.

MamaSpike ~ Congrats! How are you feeling! I have thought about leaving to, but have gotten close to some people and call them my support so therefore I won't give up on then nor let myself down because of it. Gotta just move onto the next forum. It's sad that people have to know all, and be all. I hope you are doing well and welcome to the world of being sleeved! Much success wishes to you!! -
Sleeve weight loss times?
rensterness replied to Llunker's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think this is a great question and I think with your marriage coming up it will help to push yourself a little more with following the proper diet after surgery. It will give you that push. As you may know, age, mobility and gender are a factor to the weight loss. I am approx 5'9 and was sleeved October 7th, 2013. My major weight loss was within the first three months, just about 85 pounds. Men lose quicker then women (damn us men! Lol) I am now losing about 3 pounds a week. I am a 28 year old male. I wish you both nothing but success! -

There's a reason a lot of people come onto these forums and never come back. Those that think they are 'helping', and 'encouraging' and 'looking out for your best interest' really seem to be ones that just want to know it all and be better then others and play doctor. We all have our own doctors, we don't need that here nor do we need the negativity. And as an FYI for those that say "well I've done the process and been sleeved for three years", well kudos to you but that doesn't mean you are the doctor of the sleeve or know it all. Please, let's not make this a site (even though it has for some) where ppl run away from. Belladonna asked a very reasonable question that MANY of us have asked when we were sleeved, and four months out I STILL ask. -
Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Not bragging but.....
rensterness replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Belladonna~ When I was sleeved I have some very uncomfortable feelings and gurgling in my tummy as well. I switched to a bottle for my water called a Camelbak, AMAZING difference. With this bottle it prevents air from entering while you drinking. You can use it for all cold beverages and you can get it at Dicks Sporting Good, LL Bean and so on. Cheaper if you get it online by googling Camelbak Bottle. -

Belladonna simply posted a question, how hard it is to answer it without throwing smart a$$ remark or some know it all comment? If you don't want to answer the question of which she is asking then move to the next forum. It amazes me in these forums how many know it alls there are and how many ppl want to act like they are the doctor or therapist. Simply answer the damn question or go to the next one! Jeeze. -
Hoping all went well and awaiting your updates! :-)

You don't have to love your surgeon, but you want to feel confident with them and comfortable. I personally met with mine a second time to get a feel, and did a little more research. Our personalities were very different but he was considered one of the very best bariatric surgeons within the Northeast so I stuck with h and am so glad I didn't switch just because we were so different because my results have been amazing. Best of luck to you and please keep us updated -
This is a very inspirational sand meaningful for. I am touched by this very much so. So sorry for your loss, and look forward to knowing each and every holiday for the many more days to come. Sorry for your loss, but so glad you are able to share how very special your niece was and touch the hearts of others.
