August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
TexasBecky replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Salsa, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope it all resolves quickly. Don't get discouraged though. You are doing great and this is just a little bump in the road. You'll be feeling better and back to exercising in no time (and in onederland). -

Questions/Cosmetic/Reconstructive Surgery
TexasBecky replied to heather113076's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Heather, I think every situation is different. Some will pay and some won't. Just remember, even if you aren't able to have reconstructive surgery after you lose your weight you will be so much healthier and happier. Don't let the possiblility of future sagging skin stop you from getting the lap band. -

Julie, I'm so glad you are in recovery mode now. In a couple of weeks I'm sure you'll be at goal and looking even more fabulous than you already do. Take good care of yourself and follow doctor's orders. -
I'm still here too. I just added up the weight loss for me and everyone who has posted on this thread before me. 538.5 pounds lost all together. When the rest of the Crazy Ates post I predict we will have lost over a ton of weight! Keep it up everybody. Changing your life is really hard, but we are doing it.

Squatting down to get something out of the bottom kitchen cabinet doesn't almost kill me now. -
I am happy with my restriction right now. I was very surprised to have gotten some noticeable restriction from my first fill. At each fill, I was encouraged to make another appointment for two weeks later. So I got three fills in a six week period. They were each very small, but I would say for now I'm at a good place. I can eat a wide variety of foods, just in small quantities, which is exactly what I had hoped for. I've scheduled the next fill for 6 weeks (a couple of weeks before Christmas). Good luck with your 2nd fill. I hope it gets you where you want to be. Let us know.

LadyBug, I feel your pain. My doc made me wait 8 weeks for the first fill and I felt like I was starving. Hang in there and do the best you can until you start getting some restriction. I know it feels like the same old dieting struggle we've been through before, but it will get better. I think exercising is the best thing you can do for yourself until then. Let us know how you like the Walk Away the Pounds DVD. I've been curious about it. I like to walk outside now when the weather is beautiful, but I need another plan for rainy days. Hang in there and before you know it you'll be down 50 lbs. Really!

Hi everybody. Great exercise goals for November. Glad you're back Band Chick. I'm cheering for you and everybody else to make your goals this month. I must admit, I have to talk myself in to my walk alot of the time, but I feel sooooooooooo much better after I've done it. I believe it is helping me with my weight loss, but more than anything it is giving me energy and a mental boost that I need. If I start slacking off, please remind me how good it makes me feel. Anyway, as for my Novemeber goal, I'm going to go for 24 days of exercise this month. It is a stretch since I made my 20 days in October on the very last day of the month, but I think I can do it. Good luck to me and all you other exercising Crazy Ates! Crazy Ates November Exercise Challenge1/24 Days of Exercise

It is time for me to set a new weight loss goal. Making little mini goals here and on the exercise thread and posting them for everyone to see is really working for me. I guess it keeps me focused on a short term objective that seems doable. Funny, but I also feel accountable to all of you. So, I want to lose another 20 pounds by Christmas. I've said it, now I have to do it. That means I need to lose about 2.5 pounds a week. I believe I can do that.

I just filled two lawn and leaf bags with clothes that are too big and that was from just one side of my closet . They're going to Goodwill tomorrow. There is so much room in my closet now! Can't wait to fill it up again with smaller sizes. -
Adjusting the BRAIN along with the band...
TexasBecky replied to NanaRenan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And who said getting the lapband is taking the easy way out? This is hard work, and we still have the same old mental issues to cope with. Valstar, have you been able to get any exercise? I'm finding walking to be really helpful. Not just with the weight loss, but it seems to have a really positive impact on my overall sense of well being. It must be the endorphines. Try to stay positive. You are doing great. -
August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
TexasBecky replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Valstar, your loss so far is fantastic. Don't let a little emotional eating get you down. You're doing great and you'll get right back on your program. Even skinny people over do it sometimes. -

I remember looking at this thread back in the summer before my surgery and being so motivated by it. Well now I am three months post op and I've lost just over 50 lbs. I never thought losing 50 pounds would make such a difference. I can't believe how much better I feel. Physically and mentally. Besides having so much more energy, I feel like a huge mental load has been lifted. I am no longer constantly disgusted with myself for not doing something about my weight. I feel good about my future. I believe that I really will make it to goal this time and I believe that I won't gain the weight back this time. This is a great thread. Let's hear from some more of you about how things have changed. -
Well, I finished out the challenge today with a 40 minute walk! That's 20/20 Days of Exercise in October, without a day to spare. I guess it is time to start thinking about a November challenge. Band Chick where are you? Way to go Dave01. Fantastic weight loss too! Advance congrats to you Frangi. I know you're going to finish the challenge today.

JulieNYC's Lateral Thigh Lift and Brachioplasty
TexasBecky replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Julie, What would your Dad's position be in the same scenario with a patient who was not also his daughter? -

I walked for 40 minutes this evening. My shins are feeling better and I'm going to make the October challenge. I'm taking it right down to the wire, but I am going to make it. Today was super busy and I know I would not have walked this evening if I wasn't trying to meet this month's goal. I don't know why this little commitment works for me, but it does so I'm going to keep it up. Oh, and take a look at my ticker. I got a small fill today and I've now made it past the 50 pounds lost mark. Woo Hoo!

Keep up the good work Salsa and Frangi. Ya'll are doing great!
19/20 Days of Exercise in October
