I would take part in a class action suit! This has been nothing but a let down and a device that should have been tested more before FDA approval. The stomach pain and throwing up has been horrible even with no saline in the band. Hell yes I'd sue!!!! My band has had success with weight loss of 100lbs but its not worth the problems that came with it.

My insurance company has an exclusion on gastric surgeries. The state of Utah allows employers to pick and choose what procedures will be covered and not covered. I thought there may be an exception for me since its not a new surgery. The insurance gal at my doc's office doesn't seem to really wanting to dig into this deeper and help me at all. She also is assuming they won't pay for the removal if I want to have it taken out and no revision. I'm still gaining weight and throwing up every day and they are telling me I'm stuck with this band! Does anyone know if this can be appealed?? Help!

bam1339, you and I have had the same darn weight loss and gain with the band. So frustrating.. I am too debating on which route to take now. RNY or sleeve?? So difficult!! Ugh!! Glad to know I'm not the only person out there who has had success and then sudden weight changes and horrible food digestion problems.

Thanks for your honest opinions on the sleeve after lap band. Sounds like your sleeve is starting to work. I just have so many questions and as much as I hate my band now it's still scary to make another decision about weight loss surgery. I just keep telling myself that the band was just a five year side road I took on my weight loss journey and I need to take a different road now and it's the sleeve.

I'm going to have a revision soon and was wondering if with the sleeve do you get that food caught in the back of your throat feeling like with the band? I can eat and be fine and then never fails with my band after a few bites sometimes I feel like food is caught at the back of my mouth. Different feeling from a productive burp. Yes I get that too with this thingy in my stomach. The band was great my first 3 years andI lost 95lbs. Then about year 4 it all changed and constant band issues with weight gain of about 45lbs and tons of throwing up. I'M TIRED OF THIS LAP BAND GAME!!

My surgeon is going to do a band removal and revision. He's letting me decide if I want the sleeve or bypass. I'm confused.. Help! Why is the sleeve better? Just looking for some thoughts and opinions.
