    Feel like a failure :(

Don't beat yourself up. I had cheated a bit here and there pre op as well (peanut butter, saltine cracker, vegetable soup) The second week I hunkered down and was more strict. The pre op diet is more difficult than post op. pre requires all will power, post does require discipline after several weeks but the sleeve is very helpful in keeping you honest at least if you do break down and eat something that you really shouldn't have you will not eat much of it.
  2. Cross, I can completely relate. I know I get full much more quickly than before but I keep questioning if I am doing something wrong. I am following the eating guidelines pretty well and only have trouble with milk so far. I get between 500 and 650 cals a day but am not hitting my Protein goal o 70-80. It makes no sense how I can maintain my current weight of 272 on these cals but I know that the important thing is to keep working at making better food choices and exercising.
  3. I am hitting my four week mark tomorrow. I have lost 18 pounds but have been stalled out for the past 2 and a half weeks. I am focusing on increasing my exercise throughout the week and hope that helps break this stagnant streak.

    Mushy Phase

Tums and don't lay down. I over ate once and was so miserable. I went to lay down and it stayed with me for hours. I later read in some of the material given to me from the hospital that it is best to stay upright to help move it along. I would advise against trying to drink to push it through....that will likely just fill you up more at this point (uhg). Hang in there and just remind yourself to eat soooo slowly and to really stop once you begin to feel full. I am so bad about not wanting to throw away those last few bites but have found that it is much preferable to quickly get the remainder out of my sight rather than finish it and be miserable for a few hours. Hope that helps. Jen
  6. Butterbean, Ty for posting the article. It helps explain a lot and while I am still stalled out as of this morning I can relax a bit and just focus on creating new healthful habits without stressing too much that I am doing something wrong.
  7. Hi Wannabthin, I had my sleeve surgery on 5/21, so about the same time as you. My pre surgery weigh-in was 289 (down 6 lbs from liquid diet) I lost 10 lbs my first week out and another 8 over the next few days. I stalled out at 271 and have been sitting here for over a week now. I am slowly increasing my cals ( from 250 up to 550) but am only getting 45-50 protein a day. I am not tolerating the protein powder and milk anymore so most of my protein is coming from the scrambled egg and plain yogurt mixed with tuna fish. I have been extremely worried about this stalling out too. It is encouraging to see that I am not the only one and that there may still be a light at the end of the tunnel. Anyone who has experienced this before who has tips to offer on how to get over this hump will be much appreciated.
  8. The Isopure actually mixes in really well IMO but you must be sure that the liquid is less than 140* degrees. I tried adding it to my fresh brewed coffee once a d would liked to have died. Had to pour it out. If the liquid is steaming and hot to the touch then the Iso just seems to curdle.
  9. I would add some unflavored Isopure protein powder to chicken broth or try the chicken broth flavored protein powder in water...Unjury has a good chicken flavored powder.

    Not losing :(

Ty for posting this question. I am 2 and a half weeks out from surgery (5/21). I have lost 18 pounds in this time but stalled out 4 days ago. I was getting between 200-300 cal a day and could not understand why I would stop losing so soon. I had many complications with arthritis and thought maybe it was because I am less active than most people. My joints are already thanking me as I am standing and walking better now than I have in the last couple years! I continue to walk a little more each day and am starting some strength building exercises at my Y. All this is great but I still couldn't help but to wonder if I am doing something wrong or that my body is so insanely messed up that it could hold my weight on just a few hundred calories a day. Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread as I can now breathe a sigh of relief and trust that it will continue to improve as time goes on.
