  1. Can you suggest any links or resources for learning more about clean eating. For the last two years I have focused on juicing and eating plant-based/ minimally processed foods. I have had to change a lot of my nutritional practices in order to follow my Drs plan....including high Protein and meat (fish and chicken only for me, I still can't make that leap to beef or pork). I am not a fan of artificial sweetener, fats, or anything so we have had to make some comprises here. I haven't heard of clean eating before and am interested in finding out more about it. Any suggestions you might have are much appreciated.

    StL?

Thank you. That would not be far for me at all.

    StL?

Sooo, I'm guessing we are few
  5. Wow, your experience is completely different than mine was. I could only get 2 oz of protein shake in a 20-30 min time frame at that stage. I would be careful tho as you are healing up and may not have full sensation at work yet in your tum. Take it slow regardless and check in with your doc for some informed feedback. Best of luck to you.
  6. As repetitive and annoying as it may be to read the same question over and over again I must admit that it was that dreaded 3 week stall that made me seek out more information and brought me onto this site. While my Dr did tell me that stalls were inevitable I did not expect it to happen so soon and all the while my calorie intake was 250-350 daily. I subconsciously believed that my body was somehow broken to begin with as I have never responded well to changes in diet and increases in exercise. I was terrified that I would be the one and only person that would go through this surgery and STILL not lose weight and regain mobility. I can not tell you what a source of comfort it was for me at the time to see so many people posing the exact questions that were plaguing me. And even more comforting were the responses from the Veterans telling us newbies "hey, I have been there, it can last a few weeks, but trust me it will get better." ... and it has

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

Hi fellow May-ers HW - 300 lb Day of surgery (5/21) - 289 lb CW (6/27) - 269 lb 31 lbs down total, 20 since day of surgery. Ps - I stalled out for 3 weeks and just started losing again (down 3lbs in past 4 days)
  9. For me, Unjury chicken and vanilla flavors were good. The tasteless about choked me (in chicken soup). So far the only tasteless powder that works for me is IsoNatural. Mixes well and almost undetectable.
  10. I stalled out in my second week too . I am 5 weeks out as of tomorrow and just started dropping weight again yesterday. For me, I must keep my carbs low, protein and fluids high and exercise every day. Keep reading other threads and you will see that stalls in the 3 rd week are very common. It takes time to figure out how to get your nutritional needs all while healing from surgery. I had a very hard time getting protein requirements as I was not tolerating Protein shakes ver well. Hang in there and try to stay calm. All is well.

    What do I do now?

Couldn't be more true! Good advice.

    What do I do now?

Definitely file an appeal! They just did the same thing to my Dad who is the most 'medically necessary' person in the world. We got his primary doc to call them and they staid they did not "read the second page of his claim where all his comorbidities were listed". They just gave the go ahead nd he is now scheduled for 7/17. Start the appeal ASAP! Sometimes they need to know you are dead serious before the finally give in. If all else fails there are several options for the dreaded private pay, which is what I had to do. Please try not to let this get you too down (I know first hand how devastating that news is) and keep up the good fight. There are ways to make it happen although it is just so frustrating to be forced to jump through hoop after hoop when all you want is to reclaim you health and life back.

    Sleeved on friday

I am 5 weeks out and still not able to tolerate shakes ( I've switched from reg skim milk to almond milk and it helps a little). My best option was using unflavored Protein in the chicken broth. Just need to make sure the broth is less than 140 degrees before adding powder or it will curdle. Everyone is different. Some ppl seem to have no prob with shakes post op.....I'm not one of them though.

    One week out

Dark urine usually indicates not enough water. Icky and tired one week out is quite normal. My energy took a few weeks to get back up. I also started feeling really good and energetic in the 2 nd and 3 rd weeks but would poop out very quickly. I am 5 weeks post op tomorrow and energy levels are greatly improved and am able to exercise at the levels I did pre op.

    Flavorless Protein?

Isonatural is my favorite, Unjury was ok but left a funky taste in my chicken broth IMO.
  17. Kit, I stalled out after week 2! I am now in week 4 with no change. My doc said stalls will happen but I didn't expect one so soon. I started concentrating on getting my protein and water and am slowly increasing exercise. Fingers crossed that this breaks loose soon. The fact that I stalled out is what made me look for online support groups and I am so happy I found this one. Many others have posted about their stalled times and it gives me much hope that it is just part of the process and does not mean the weight loss period is over. Hang in there and maybe try to make a few small changes (increases of protein, exercise and or water) to see if that helps.

    Feel like a failure :(

Lol, and in that sweetie I am sure you are not alone . Hang in there, do your best, if you slip up just shake it off and get back on track the next meal. You will do fine and be feeling so good before you know it.
