    Labor Day Challenge

Ok, feeling pretty disappointed in myself. I am missing the mark by 10 pounds for my Labor Day goal. HW - 300 lb SW - 289 lb CW - 255 lb Labor Day goal - 245 lb Surgery date - 5/21/13 I regularly get 70-80g protein and am pretty good about my water intake too. However, I have let more and more carbs creep back into my diet (and not the carbs derived from fruits and veggies) I plan to work out daily but consistently make it 4 days a week, doing 35-40 mins of cardio. I know I need to step it up and not slack so easy. It was so much more simple when I could just focus on making good choices but now that I am back to my full regular schedule I tend to let the fact that I am crammed for time to opt for the less than ideal food choices. And while I am being honest, I have also been known to grab a few handfuls of chips or crackers when stressed out trying to make a deadline. Oh how these old habits die hard. I am also feeling kinda worried because it seems that I am pretty comfortable eating the suggested serving size of most foods. Never exceeding 6 oz but it seems like way more than I should be eating this early on. Of course prior to WLS I could easily consume 3-4x the suggested serving size, but still this concerns me. Any tips on breaking those old stress eating habits or sticking to good food choices when crunched for time? Thanks for listening to my pity party. Any constructive suggestions are more than welcomed.
  2. Hi, I am just wondering if there are many Sleevers here that live nearby the Saint Louis, MO area and if anyone can recommend a good support group that meets regularly in this general area? Best of Luck to everyone, Jen

    StL?

I grew up in Florissant and my dad still lives there. My time there was from early 70s to 1990. I am jealous,. I love visiting Florida and always wish I could up and move there too.

    Going Crackers?

I found a puffed grain cake (similar to rice cakes but much thinner and fewer carbs). Made by Suzy's. I get the Spelt and Flaxseed cakes. My local Dierbergs carries them but they are also available through Amazon. 3 good sized cakes are a total of 58 calories and makes a great medium for hummus, chick and tuna salad. Also does not kick in my cracker trigger, so no binging urges result.
  5. My dad had his WLS 4 weeks ago and as I preceded him two months earlier he usually comes to me first with his questions. My doc told me that 1000 cals daily is a good amount to have and to shoot for 80 g of protein ( which I have no prob getting). My Dad is wondering what the typical amount of calories per day is for the men who have had this surgery. So far he is doing very well but I am sure he is still at the point where he is eating much fewer calories than he will once his stomach is healed up.
  6. Hi gamergirl, I am a little bit younger but not much and I can tell you that energy was a real issue for the first 6 weeks. I was not getting a lot of calories but I would start off feeling great first thing in the morning and then sputter out very fast with any activity. I believe that it improved once I was able to raise my daily cals to 800. It also just takes some time to heal and adjust to the low cal intake.

Surgery 5/21/13 HW 300 DOS 289 Cw (8/6) 256 I feel as though I am losing slow as well. My exercise is not as consistent as I need it to be but better than I have been in years. One day at a time *sigh.

    Labor Day Challenge

No change on my weigh-in on Monday but down 2 pounds today. Surgery on 5/21/13. HW 300 DOS 289 CW 256 Labor Day Goal 244
  10. I was wondering where all the St. Louis folks were hiding . Can anyone suggest a good local support group? I had my surgery at Mercy in Washington. Went out there as I was self pay and it was more affordable to go out there. However makes for quite a drive for support meetings.
  11. No need to panic. I hit a stall at exactly the same time. Mine lasted 3 weeks and I was completely horrified. You are not doing anything wrong, your body is just healing and adjusting, you will start losing again just keep focus on liquids and protein up.

    Hate my NUT

  17. Please be very careful with the alcohol. I know everyone's doc and nut give out different guidelines but I am pretty certain that this early on alcohol can put us at risk for ulcers. I know all to well the call of our forbidden temptations but we really must take care our stomachs and heed the warnings (heartburn, discomfort, etc)
