    2 weeks post today!

That depends on what your doctor told you. I could only walk for the first four weeks.
  2. You might be eating too much, too fast- try only one bite every 15 minutes and see if that stays down. In the beginning, that is what I had to do until I worked myself up to one bite every 5 minutes, and I had to eat that way for a month before I was able to hold two bites in a 5 minute period which is where I am now.
  3. Having been a labor coach for my sister with her three pregnancies, I would say no. Two weeks after surgery you will still be very sore, and labor is intense. With my sister, there was running around to get her what she needed, spending HOURS at the hospital eating from vending machines and sitting in those awful chairs, and staying awake for 24-36 hours straight. I also helped hold her legs when she pushed (no way you would be able to do that) and of course held my beautiful nieces and nephew, two of which were over the 10 pound limit Ultimately, it really depends on how you are feeling and how sore you are. We are all different, and all heal differently, so it is really hard to say. I can say there is no way I would have been able to be with my sister until week 4.

    PostOp Lifting?

My restriction was for four weeks, but you need to go with what your doctor told you.

    Post-Op Meds?!

Liquid Roxicet for pain, Zofran for nausea.

Did you keep a "before" outfit?

I saved a pair of my size 26 jeans- the ones I wore to my first day of orientation for my bariatric program. Everything else has happily been donated to a women's shelter.

How much protein is too much?

I think it depends on your gender, height and goal weight, my NUT told me 80 grams, and I am 5'8. I have seen other people with lower protein goals, but they were shorter women. I would go with what your doctor/NUT told you since we are all different.

    itching!

I itched like crazy my first two weeks- as soon as I stopped taking Roxicet it stopped. I think I was allergic to the red dye.

    Any one has Humana insurance

Do you know what your BMI is? Most insurances will approve anyone with a BMI over 40, and will approve with a BMI of 35-40 with at least one co-morbidity.
  10. If you are a diabetic, you should definitely wait. After surgery your blood sugar will normalize and your medications will be tapered down, and during that time you can definitely have changes in vision. If you are not a diabetic and have had no changes in your vision lately, you should be fine, but you will still be very sore only 12 days out from surgery and you have to get on and off the lasik machine so that might be tricky. I would say wait until you are at least four weeks post op so that you are fully healed and no longer sore. When I had lasik I was really uncomfortable and dizzy for a few days until I got used to my new eyes, so give yourself time to heal from one procedure before you do another one
  11. In the beginning they want you to focus on fluids and protein and not worry so much about calories. In a few more weeks you will be able to get your calories up and then you should start tracking because it helps you to be more aware of what you are eating.

    Tricare, Fort Bragg

Dr. Perkins has been so great- she did my sleeve and also took out my gallbladder two months later, so I have seen her quite a bit these past weeks, plus I also work at Womack so I see her around as well. I was lucky to have everything done before Jasmin and Caron left, but I know things are crazy now.
  13. When I started working out I was at 500 calories and that was too low. I increased my calories and added in some carbs and felt much better when I was exercising.
  14. 3 months post-op, 700-800 calories per day

    Tricare, Fort Bragg

Tricare covers bariatric surgery when its done at a MTF, but there are only a few hospitals that do the surgery. My hubby is active duty so everything was covered for me.

no two week liquid pre op diet

I had to do a 12 day low carb (under 20 grams of carbs per day) and then 2 day clear liquid diet before my surgery.

I had my surgery at Womack three months ago with Dr. Perkins who I LOVE!!! Good luck!
  18. I plan my meals so that I eat four meals a day, and they are each 20 grams of protein. I use My Fitness Pal to track my protein and calories, but now I know exactly how much meat I need to eat to get in my protein which is 4 oz. I was weighing and measuring everything in the beginning, but now I don't need to because I know how much I need to eat to get in my protein. For breakfast I have this breakfast casserole that I make with turkey sausage, eggs, veggies, and black beans. For lunch I usually get a salad (chicken or salmon) and eat just the meat and a few bites of veggies. For my mid afternoon meal I eat the rest of the meat left from my salad or have some tuna fish or some turkey chili that I make and keep frozen. For dinner I eat meat and a few bites of veggies. Sometimes I will have a snack before bed if I am feeling empty and have finished drinking all my water for the day, but only once or twice a week. I get in my 80 grams of protein every day and I am usually between 700-800 calories every day.

    Disappointing Dr.s Appt.

I had several sessions with my therapist before surgery specifically to deal with my sress/emotional eating habits. I found it really helped me and I have rarely had issues with that now after surgery. I basically had to develop new ways of coping with my emotions other than eating. I use exercise, journaling, and my hobbies like DIY house projects, gardening, and reading now when I feel stress cravings coming on.
  20. Did your surgeon say why you had to go through the stages again? That doesn't make sense to me because the food stages have to do with your sleeve healing, and have nothing to do your gallbladder. I had my GB out three weeks ago and had no diet restrictions at all- when I got home from the hospital the evening of my surgery I had a normal dinner of chicken and some veggies, and had no issues then, or in the last three weeks.
  21. Jatherly- I agree 100%. Before surgery I bought two cases of Isopure, all the flavors, and after surgery the ONLY one I could even think of gagging down was coconut. My hubby had to exchange all the other flavors for coconut. I also had to exchange other flavors of protein shakes as well because I could not stand the taste. I bought a total of four cases of assorted drinks (I went a little overboard- I still have some chocolate shakes in my refrigerator from before surgery), and only ended up being able to drink Pure Protein Frosty Chocolate and Isopure Coconut. All the other ones went back. So I recommend buying a bunch of different ones, but only one bottle or can, and keep the receipts in case you need to return or exchange.
  22. In the first two weeks it is such a struggle to get in fluids that you need to drink whatever you can that tastes good. Check the label of your Coconut Water though because some of them have added sugar, and you want to stay away from sugary drinks.
  23. Several times a week, not every day. I tried Colace once right after surgery and it gave me such bad cramps that I will never take that again! My doctor told me that as long as I was not having abdominal pain or bloating from being constipated that I should just let my body do its own thing, and that is what I have done. She said not to expect to go every day because of the low volume of food that I am eating now. I never go more than three days without a BM, so I never feel uncomfortable, and I do not take any laxatives or anything.

    hair

My doctor told me the key to not losing your hair is getting in your protein. That really motivated me, and keeps me motivated to get in my 80 grams every day. So far, I have not had any hair loss, but I don't know how far out it typically happens.
