I use a timer app on my phone to help me get my fluids in. I also eat every three hours even though I am never hungry. I just set a schedule for myself and I stick to it- when I don't stick to my schedule, I never get in my proteins or fluids.

No personal experience with this, but my hubby always wears compression shorts in place of underwear underneath his gym shorts to keep all his junk in place. His favorite brand is under armour.

I think that weight loss is about calories above all else- calories in versus calories burned, and not so much to do with your "zone". A deficit of 3500 calories equals one pound of fat loss no matter what your zone is. Seems to me she was being judgy and critical of your choice to have wls and was trying to make you feel bad with her comments.

What's the pain like?
DeniseM replied to Melissa1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery pain was very well controlled with medicine, and the main cause of my pain was from gas. I would say my first few days after surgery that I was uncomfortable, but not that I was in pain. However, everyone is different- we all had different post-op meds, and different levels of pain tolerance so this is an extremely subjective question. -
I definitely had cravings, but for the first few weeks I couldn't do anything about it because of the diet restrictions. Now that I can eat whatever I want, the cravings are not as bad. I have had a bite or two of some of the things I have been craving this week though, and was very happy to find that a bite or two was really enough when before I would eat the whole bag.

Will I ever eat a hot meal again?
DeniseM replied to SueJH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same bout as you- five weeks out and I end up reheating my meals 2-3 times to keep it hot. Or I just eat it cold if I'm feeling lazy. -

Driving after surgery
DeniseM replied to 2013sleevegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at 10 days. It was still really painful to turn and look behind to back up, but other than that, no issues. You do have to be off all your narcotics for at least 24 hours though. -
birth control after sleeve?
DeniseM replied to lankymom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Dr. switched me to the Nuvaring because after a lengthy discussion where I was concerned about the absorption of the pill in my stomach and my concerns with taking high doses of hormones at my age (40), she explained that the Nuvaring delivers low doses of hormones which are absorbed directly into your bloodstream rather than the pill which has to be processed through your stomach and liver before it is absorbed, and if I were to take my pill at the same time as eating something that my body did not agree with and either throw up or have diarrhea then it would be possible for me not to get the appropriate dose of hormones. She recommends the Nuvaring to all her WLS patients. So far, I have not noticed any difference between taking the pill or the Nuvaring as far as how I feel. Another plus is that you can go three months without having a period.... I tried the depo shot back when it first came our and gained 50 pounds and had horrible migraines, so I was not interested in going that route. -
They didn't for me- I ate them almost every day when I was on pureed foods.

I drove for the first time at 10 days after surgery- I did fine except for turning to check behind me when I was backing up- way too painful to turn at the waist, but no problems with the seatbelt or getting in and out of the car.

I am in the same boat as you- I was sleeved one month ago, and the first three weeks I lost at least one pound a day, and this past week only one pound. I know that everyone goes through a stall, but it is very frustrating when it happens to you! I was hoping I would be the exception and not hit a plateau.

My favorite puree's were the Wendy's chili and refried beans with a little cheese on top.

I think everyone is going to have feelings of remorse at some point because it is such a life-altering change. I do NOT regret having the surgery, and I wouldn't say that I have had any remorse, but this week I have been feeling a little frustrated because I am a month out, and I am still having to spend literally every waking minute drinking or eating to get in my fluids and Protein. I knew it would be a challenge in the beginning, but I expected that after a few weeks I would be able to eat and drink a bit more than I can now. When I am home or at work it is not a problem, but weekends are really hard for me because of the constant drinking or eating- it becomes inconvenient. I know that with time, I will be able to hold more in my pouch, and I keep focusing on that.

uh oh-TMI- my lady bits are shrivling up! lololol

Yes- only a month out from surgery and none of my bras fit- all too big. I was excited about buying smaller clothes, but certainly not smaller bras. -
My favorite thing to puree was a small Wendy's chili with 2 packs of crackers- it tasted so good after all those liquids and sweet Protein shakes! If you don't have one, but a submersible hand blender- they are so much easier to puree stuff and to clean than a regular blender or food processor- especially for when you are on vacation! I would puree soups and such right in their container. Just dump out about an inch so it doesn't overflow.

how long did you surgery last
DeniseM replied to janie2024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I arrived at the hospital at 7:00 am, was in the pre-op area until 7:55, in the OR at 8:00, in recovery at 9:00 (so they tell me- I was still sleepy), and in my hospital room by 10:00. All I had done though was the sleeve, and no complications or anything unusual found during surgery. -
I had the same thing- a rash over my entire stomach, down into my groin area, and around my sides. Itched like MAD. My Dr. told me to take Benadryl and gave me a hydrocortisone cream, it helped, but it didn't completely stop the itching. However, a few hours after my last dose of Roxicet the itching stopped. So I know it was some sort of reaction to the Roxicet which I had been taking around the clock for the first few days.

I got called in after my psych eval and I thought I had failed, but what they wanted was for me to have three individual counseling sessions, one before my surgery, and two after. So I was cleared for surgery after my first session, and I still need two more sessions, which I am fine with.

Maybe the EFMP office might know? I am feeling really good so far. I've had no complications and everything is healing up nicely. I'm still a little sore around the area of my incisions, but I barely notice. -
I loved that SB chocolate ricotta dessert!

What do I do now?
DeniseM replied to Thenewmrssmith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you called your insurance company to confirm this? I would definitely make a phone call and have them review your policy just to be certain. Do not take someone else's word for it.
