July 2013 sleevers
thinnerdaysahead replied to lilyrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi lilyrose - I just found out today that my surgery date is 7/9. I'm 58 and wish I had done this sooner, but sometime is better than no time. I'm going to spend the next few weeks getting all the goodies I need and start writing down ideas for meals when we can eat. I went to a local support group tonight and 5 former patients were there to tell their story and for encouragement. Glad I went. Good luck to you - I'll be sure to check for your posts to see how you are doing. -
Porn Mags for Women or How to Get Your Woman to Add to Your Porn Stash

To the author - I say you should be a comedian. I couldn't stop laughing, although there is sad truth in your humor. This world is filled with so many inequalities for women (religious, work related, being taken seriously at almost any event). Then there is the bald, overweight, viagra guzzling man who can do no wrong. Anyway, thanks for the laugh. -
Who Are You?

You sound so much like the chatter that goes on in my mind. I have finally decided that this is the only way my health will improve and my self esteem (which has been hovering around 1.5 for years) will ever get better. This group is so supportive. I'm so glad I found it. Lots of good info and support. -
Sleeved march 19'2013 have had two spine surgeries and not losing weight

You might want to go online to see the P.T.s who are providing aquatic therapy prior to seeing doc. and write down info. I had aquatic P.T. a few years ago, the P.T. started with a little massage, then therapy in a heated pool. Felt good. They have all kinds of workout gear to gradually increase the resistance of the workout. As the others said 50 lbs is great especially considering your obstacles. You'll get there. Good thoughts and best wishes. -
Sharing news of your decision

Hi out there - I am pre-surgery and I'm wondering if anyone made the decision to not share the news of their surgery with the exception of immediate family and 1 WLS friend? -
Sharing news of your decision

Thanks to all of you for your replys. I would love to say that I have a wonderful, accepting family - but, this isn't the case. Some of my friends have expressed their negative views of wls in the past - don't need to hear that. I know my body and my needs and will be the one who has to live with my decision. Kisses to you all. -
what is the big hype with greek yogurt?
thinnerdaysahead replied to ********'s topic in Food and Nutrition
My husband makes a nice dip (for veggies, etc.) with greek yogurt, minced shallots and a little salt & pepper. So delicious, reminds me of rich, onion dip. -
Still sore from the IV

I have the same problem, but one smart nurse applied a warm pad on the inside of my elbow. He said this would make the vein pop up and stabilize. All I know is that it worked. Since I have this problem, I tell the nurse, etc. which vein has worked the best in the past. Sorry about the pain. -

Don't be nervous - get a notebook and write down all the questions you have. My doctor is very nice and from what I hear from others, doctors who do this type of surgery have a special empathy. Good luck. -
Who Are You?

Hi to everyone at every stage of your journey. My name is Max and I am 58 waiting for insurance approval for gastric sleeve. I am married to a retired commercial pilot (for 32 years) and we have an adopted daughter (who was born from my heart) who has just turned 13. I had one sibling, he died of brain cancer at the young age of 27. My mom is 85 years young and is my hero. My profession is that of working in home health as an occupational therapist, but became disabled a few years ago (injury to my back and right shoulder). The light of my life is my daughter, she brings such joy and she is quite the comedian. I used to cook quite often, but my husband was also a professional chef, so he rules the kitchen. I have small spaces to store my favorites, but my spouse is very territorial of what he considers his space. Wish he felt that way about the vacuum. Glad I found this site. I have watched several you tube videos and I get that support is important. Thanks for letting me join.
