Medications After Surgery
thinnerdaysahead replied to duffrebecca12@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 1 week post-op appt, my doc said I could begin swallowing my pills one at a time and to give 5 minutes between pills. Your doc might have different advice. -
I've noticed that I lost weight, the pressure points on my joints is shifting - leading to achy joints and soreness. If you are just experiencing muscle pain, magnesium helps me and/or sitting in a warm tub with epsom salts.

Dumping syndrome
thinnerdaysahead replied to rhonda2006's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can definitely relate. A week ago I was in an airport about to change planes. No food on the plane, so I look around to see what is avail - Blessed, I thought - there in big letters "Protein smoothie" (20 grams of protein) and began to nurse this drink, as I was very hungry. Within 5 minutes I felt what you describe and ran to the closest restroom. I was with my 13 yo daughter - I don't remember ever being so miserable (except flu). Just another reminder to ask about sugar content. -

Congratulations to you and your new family. I adopted a 9 mo old from Kazakhstan - she is now 13. It is so wonderful to feel needed, to love and be loved - God bless you and yours. -
How do you get the most liquid in?
thinnerdaysahead replied to robocop12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 13 days post-op - the drinking gets easier day by day, initially you have a very swollen sleeve - not much room in there, but it gets better every day. -
I was sleeved 7/9 and I had the same experience - I started comparing others accomplishments to my low intake of fluids, protein - just everything - My first post-op visit, my doctor said not to worry - he just wants in thin liquids - said not to worry about (everything else) just to be gentle to my new tummy - it has a lot of healing to do. My stomach and bowels finally settled down, but liquids in liquids out. Right now we are not eating anything to produce a solid bm. Take it easy - you just had 80% of your stomach removed - just rest and let it heal - drink the liquids that you can.

How many of us are going to be sleeved July 9th? Please write.

thinnerdaysahead replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained over 4 lbs and was told that with the IV drip and the water used in surgery - this is normal. -

It could be that your BMI is not very high (35 or so). Fat swells the liver. -
July 9th sleevers
thinnerdaysahead replied to thinnerdaysahead's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a sugar free popsicle last night and really enjoyed. Since my sx date 7/9 on day 4 (today) I can have thin creamed soups ( no chunks), vegetable juice, thin diet pudding, protein drink. -
July 9th sleevers

My md's plan is for sleeved patients to introduce regular food (no chunks or too thick) after 6 weeks. Your body should let you know even then, if you are ready or not. -
July 9th sleevers
thinnerdaysahead replied to thinnerdaysahead's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have several liquids going - v-8, protein drink, mint tea, bottle of water - I just keep sipping and do the best I can. If I take more than 2 sips at a time I have pain in my sleeve (feels like chest pain) sort of. Our new stomachs are still swollen and hopefully we can drink more at a time as the swelling goes down. The staples are made of titanium and we will form scar tissue over them. They will last longer than us. I have titanium implants in a few teeth and they have never bothered me and I am very sensitive even to 14K gold. -

I also have bought some of the sugar free puddings, jello and I am looking for the sugar free cool whip. My target has sugar free syrups (caramel, hazelnut etc) that give the shake a different taste. I saw one person post that having chipped ice helps with the need to chew something. -

I love your name - my daughter and I have been to disneyland 50 times (she is 13 now). Is there anything in the liquid diet that is more satisfying? I'm sorry your miserable, but your doc will have space to work in your abdominal area and you will have a better recovery. Do you have a sleeve sister? -
Who Are You?
thinnerdaysahead replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are so welcome. We all need to support each other. Many of us cannot speak about this to some friends and family because they don't understand and have very staunch views about weight. To me, it's like if you are gay your are born that way, if you have health issues that lead or prevent you from losing weight - you were born that way. Thank God for this site where we can find support and good tips. -
