I am in the exact same boat as you. I had VSG in May 2013 and lost about 90 pounds. I have now gained back about 25 and I am starting to panic a little myself. The last time I went to the doctor I had gained some and they told me that that was typical to gain back about 15 to 20 percent of what you lost. I am thinking about going back on the bariatric shakes just for a short while to shrink my stomach back up. Good luck to you.

Any June 2013 Sleevers
patcherac replied to O2BSkinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved May 30, 2013, so it was almost June! I lost about 90 pounds in the first six months and kept that off for about a year and then it started sneaking back up on me. I have put back on about 15 pounds. I still can't eat a very large amount at one time, but I could eat a little all day long if I wanted to, and I can eat about anything. I really need to get it in gear and watch what I eat better. How are you doing? Are you maintaining well? I am curious about your progress as well. -
Typical Story, I've always been big
patcherac replied to TexCntryBoy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I felt the need to reply to your story because it sounds so much like what happened to my brother. He was always kind of big but after he lost his job he gained quite a bit of weight. Along with that came severe sleep apnea. He ended up with the same kind of symptoms you had. Severe Water retention, so bad he had blisters all over his legs too. He did have a stomach bypass and lost quite a bit of weight, but soon gained it all back. He ended up having to have a trachestomy so he could breathe when he was sleeping. He couldn't use a cpap machine because he is clostraphobic. That trachestomy saved his life, but now here it is almost ten years later and he still has it. Doctors said the only way he will ever get rid of the sleep apnea is to lose weight. He is on disability for years now, can't work, is hooked on pain pills and rarely leaves his home. He has so many aches and pains, and his heart is damaged from all of this. I just wanted to recommend that you be tested for sleep apnea, if you havent already. I'm sure your doctor knows what to do, but I just felt I should tell you this just in case it's something you have not looked into. I would hate for you to end up like my brother. Take care. -
Constipation!:(:(:(
patcherac replied to iamblessed1225's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I take a stool softener (colace) pill every day and have for months. I am about a year and a half out and had trouble with it from the surgery on. Doctor says it wont hurt anything to take it long term. He also told me to drink more Water, as that is what is causing the problem in the first place. -
Before my surgery I would wear whatever fit and was comfortable. Now I am having fun trying on things for the first time in a long time. Like you, I don't want to buy a whole lot now, but you do have to have something to wear now, right? I have been having fun going to consignment shops and thrift shops. I have gotten some really cute things and havent had to pay alot for them.

I had my sleeve done on May 30th, so I am only a little ahead of you. I did take two weeks off and went back to work on Thursday. I worked 5 hours and was absolutely exhausted! I worked the same today and it was the same. My upper back gets to me, I also had the hernia repair. Doctor told me to give it about another month and should be better. Hopefully your workplace is understanding that this is a major surjery, your body has been through alot! Good luck!

I went on the Bariatric Advantage just two weeks before surgery. It was just like Slim Fast. Two shakes a day and a small meal. It was hard! The shakes taste better with milk than water. It helped knowing I HAD to stick to it though, or I couldnt have my surgery. I lost 18 pounds on it, so it does work. Good luck to you!
