My husband was asked to consider a job transfer to Suffolk, Virginia. I'm looking for residents of the area for advice and guidance. Would you recommend Portsmouth or Chesapeake over Suffolk? Which schools do I need to stay away from? My kids are middle school & high school ages. Not sure if we're ready to plant roots in the area so considering 3 bedroom / 2 bath town homes or apartments for the first year. Any recommendations there?

Where are the Mississippi Sleevers?
SleevedJune62013 replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only restriction I had was a 20lb> lifting restriction. I was supposed to be walking right away. The lifting restriction was over by week 6 I believe. -

Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
SleevedJune62013 replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every time I made a lap in the hallway after my surgery I made him stop at the scale to see what I weighed. I'm sure it was the good meds that had me "logically" thinking i'd drop a pound for ever lap. Lol. -
As soon as you're ready! I ran fever and tried to get pneumonia right after my surgery so that put a damper on things but after a day or two of antibiotics we were back at it. I'm thinking it was around a week out (5 days?). Not long at all. Like the previous poster said "no trapeze" but you'll be able to find a comfortable pace to achieve your goal.

Sleeve weight loss times?
SleevedJune62013 replied to Llunker's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved 6/6/13 230 lbs 5' 3.5". I lost almost 20 lbs the first month. I lost approx 10 lbs the 2nd, 3rd & 4th month. I struggled during the holidays because I wasn't really working out and I was having sweet treats. I'm currently at 165. Since I've been back in the gym as of January and eating better I'm averaging approx 5lbs a month. A normal BMI for my height is 130. I needed to lose 100 lbs. I'm 8.5 months out and have lost 65% of the weight I wanted to. -

Gluttonous PIG!

Are you tracking your food intake? I use The app My Fitness Pal. It has a bar code scanner function that's really cool. You may be surprised how little you're actually eating in a day. As long as you're not pushing yourself to eat unapproved foods and making a solid attempt to get in the appropriate amount of protein your doctor is requesting I don't see why you should feel the need to neglect yourself. If you're hungry eat something approved (rich in protein). My Doctor's nutritionist had me stay under 900 calories and aim for 75+ grams of protein. I had a hard time reaching that goal after surgery. You may find comfort in tracking your food intake. Try it? -
So, should I be 'disappointed', 'flattered' or 'indifferent'?
SleevedJune62013 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to suggest you post a before and after pic until I read you saying "I don't want this to become a before and after pic..." But then someone replied saying they recently saw a picture of you. Umm, where? You're hiding behind a fake profile pic online. Maybe you're hindering your reveal in real life also? Are you wearing baggy clothing, etc? I can tell you that every time my mother sees me now she tells me how beautiful I am and as nice as it may sound to you I can't stop thinking, "why didn't she ever tell me how beautiful I was BEFORE"? Compliments that I receive now feel cheap and shallow. My husband is the only one I'm comfortable receiving compliments from and I still blush. He told me how beautiful I was to him the whole time we were together. He recently told me that I was always beautiful and I'm just showing off now. We all need therapy. LOL. -

Awe, such sweet comments. Thanks! His shot started a snap shot war. Here's the shot I got of him from the sofa after the kids told me he took a phot of me Facebooking. It's a projector shining off the wall. He took my pictures off the wall to pull that off.....(grrrrrreat). It's his newest toy.....boys and their toys! -

Sleeve or bypass
SleevedJune62013 replied to rredrruby87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend who had gastric bypass over 10 years ago and is regaining. Not all of it but she is now overweight. You also have Carnie Wilson who publicly confessed you can regain after bypass surgery. That was an eye opener to me that any WLS is just a tool and life long changes in diet and exercise must be permanent. I ultimately chose the sleeve over the bypass because the malnutrition issues are more common with bypass than with the sleeve. Both my children are the result of my resistance to a daily pill regimen. I want to be able to get the majority of my nutrients through my food consumption. I started at 230lbs 5'3.5" on 6/6/2013. Current weight as of 10/22/2013 is 177. BMI says I should weigh around 130. I have 7 more months until my 1 year mark. If I continue to lose 6-7 lbs a month that goal is obtainable. Good luck with your decision! -
random musings from a really bored woman...lol
SleevedJune62013 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Woah there Annie Oakley. Guns and hand to hand combat? Sounds like you have some pent up frustrations for sure. "I either want to b-slap someone or just chootem". LOL. Someone earlier on said that plastic surgery, liposuction in particular, was way worse pain than the sleeve. What are your thoughts on your separate recoveries? -

I found it easier to eat Sonic Ice or sugar free Popsicles than drink water. Maybe that will help you get more liquids in?
