I have just realized that the chewable vitamins I have been taking post-op have about the same nutritional value as a lolly. Can anyone tell me what combination of vitamins/calcium etc you are currently taking as I am SO confused. thanks!

That's great news! Congrats! Remember each day gets easier and easier

So sorry to hear that. It must be frustrating to have to wait! My surgeon nicked my spleen during the surgery and I lost a lot of blood. I totally trust and respect him as a surgeon, I guess like all of us surgeons are human and these things happen. They are working in a very confined space. I wish you well for Friday!

Best of luck with your surgery and recovery!!

When was your first 'stall' and how long did it last?
Camella replied to Im14fun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved July 1st - weird that we are both stuck at 21 lbs. I told myself yesterday that I wasn't going to weight myself until the weekend....of course that didn't happen and I weighed myself first thing this morning and still no movement! -

I'm three weeks out and I have been in a stall now for 10 days. I know it's "normal" but it is frustrating. Of course I have convinced myself that I will never loose another pound and that I will be the only person ever sleeved who looses just 20 pounds. Someone gave me some good advice yesterday....stop weighting yourself for a couple of weeks. -
I'm three weeks post op and I just had 1/3 cup of pureed sweet potato. It's the first time since I have had surgery that something went down really easily and I feel like I could eat more. I'm just scared that I'm overeating. How much were you able to eat at this stage?

Thanks so much for sharing that Grace! It was so nicely written and I can completely relate. I "march to the beat of my own drum", however I'm also a huge people pleaser so I understand how many small compromises can steer you in a totally different direction. I'm only recently sleeved, but look forward to discovering what is under all this weight. Congratulations!

Thanks Arts - I'm guessing that I might be overdoing it. It seems like I feel nothing and then a very sharp pain in my sternum. It really is hard to shake that need to 'finish a meal'. I think I need to pay closer attention.

Good point Laura (unfortunately too late - I trust Angel that you have good intentions ) Thanks for posting that link. It's very helpful! It's nice to have an outline of what a normal day might look like.

Thanks AngelNP I would really appreciate that. My surgeon didn't give me very clear directions so I always feel like I don't have a clue what I am doing.

Hi Opal My hubby was not really on board before my surgery, but he came to a couple of my appointments and suddenly started to "get" what a big deal it is. I'm sorry that you will have to do this alone! Just wait until the weight starts falling off and you look and feel great! I have a feeling he won't let you go to the gym without him!

thanks so much ladies! I appreciate the information and Lissa I will take your advice and stay off the scales for a little while. Thank you for the encouragement

Waxy coating in mouth from protein shakes?
Camella replied to Rosie129's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same, apparently it's quite normal post op - if you do a search under white tongue you will find a lot of people mentioning it. Mine was terrible the first week, but I've been brushing my tongue and now almost three weeks out it's 75% better. It will eventually go away. -
Hi Everyone Just a quick question. I read about stalls on the forum all the time but I wasn't expecting to have one so soon. I lost 2kg pre surgery and 8kg over the 10 days following surgery. I'm now three weeks out and I haven't lost anything over the past 11 days. I'm obviously still eating very little and trying to get my fluids in each day. I only seem to be able to average 1.3 litres each day at the moment (all I can get in). Has anyone else experienced this post-surgery? Is it normal?

I am currently 19 days post-op and for the last 4 days or so I have had constant nausea. When I was pregnant I had really bad morning sickness, this feels very similar. Has anyone else experienced this? will it pass?

19 Days Post-op & Constant Nausea
Camella replied to Camella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks so much everyone for your input. You have really put my mind at ease. It makes perfect sense that it's caused by acid. I have a constant gnawing in my stomach and constant sour taste in my mouth. I will contact my doctor to get some antacids and anti nausea. -
I felt terrible and could not have imagined doing anything much, so i'm always so envious when I hear of people feeling great a few days out. I had another major surgery a few years back and was on my feet in no time. As the others have said, it is hard to predict and everyone is different. I wish you a speedy recovery! :-)

A whole lot of Protein!
Camella replied to cindymaried's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have clear liquids prior to my surgery, just nothing (any type of liquid including water) after midnight the day before surgery. It is always best to double check though. I think a lot surgeons have different opinions on this. Good luck. -
I was the same. You will be fine and I'm sure everything will go well! It always amazes me when people say that weight loss surgery is an easy way out. I find the process of having surgery one of the most courageous things I've ever done! Just remember how brave you are and good luck!!
-
Totally normal! I became obsessed with thinking out it. I couldn't think of anything else and I was terrified. From what I understand, most people have varying degrees of feeling like this. Even the day of the surgery I was all gowned up and lying on the hospital bed thinking "what am I doing?" What helped me was trying to focus on the outcome. I would also do a lot of online "window shopping" just looking at clothes that I will one day be able to wear. Sounds pretty superficial but it helped. Good luck next Monday!

wow what an amazing accomplishment - Congratulations! Good luck with reaching your goal!

Question for people with small dogs
Camella replied to Rachel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your skin will have definitely healed over. My doctor removed mine at my one week check up. I believe that they do internal stitches and the incision under the steri strip is quite superficial (at least mine was). I don't think you have anything to worry about. -
Very interesting! thanks for sharing this
