Best and worst "compliments"
JamiO replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Best: my doctor(pcp) told me he didn't even recognize me in the waiting room and told me I was doing a great job. Weirdest::I am a teacher and when I came back to school in August my boss kept telling me I had such a nice tan and was getting dark. (She didn't know I had the surgery and you could tell she saw something different in me but wasn't sure what it was. Awkward: when people say, I don't know what you've done but you sure look pretty now. Any "compliment" that kind of makes it seem like you looked like complete crap before your surgery Funniest: I was telling my best friend how I hope I keep some of my butt as I continue to lose. And she told me now you can actually tell I have a butt! lol before my belly and back had so much extra fluff that it really minimized my rear and made me look like I had no junk in my trunk. Now I am evening out some so my butt sticks out more. Yay! -
Per my doctors response to this exact same question- go for it. It's liquid and not acidic enough to bother you. He told me I can have a sip or two but it obviously has no nutritional value so you shouldn't be drinking it all day.

What foods do you no longer like?
JamiO replied to anglicanchic85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are things that I can't tolerate any longer, but nothing that I don't like because of a change in tastes. If anything I like more things now. Before I never liked spicy foods, now I can't have enough spice! -
I had the same problem. Take a Benadryl it is like magic!!!

I lost 30 in the first 2 1/2 weeks, but it slowed down quite a bit since then. I've only lost 7 pounds in the last 3 1/2 weeks though.

I didn't leave her the same amount of tip I would usually leave. She was lacking in all areas of service. I wasn't exactly complaining about her reaction, just asking what others have experienced. To the people who can drink right up until you eat, I don't know how I'd feel if Isis that, haven't tried it. My doctor has recommended to stop drinking 30 minutes prior to eating and then wait 45 minutes after.

Ill probably just suck up the weird faces and not order it at all. I also have noticed how nice it is to really taste things and not have taste buds overloaded by the taste of a coke or tea. I also finding myself wanting to try more things where before I wouldn't.

You're so right and so wrong. liquid is like heroin for me. I miss being able to drink so much.

I don't wanna be tempted to drink it while I am waiting for my food. That's why I don't just order a water.

So we are in Pensacola this week for vacation, which means eating out way more than we would otherwise. I do not order anything to drink when we go out because I am there to eat and can't do both at the same time. Well I am wondering, what kind of reactions do you guys get when you don't order a drink? Last night our waitress asked for our drink order and I politely said nothing for me thank you. She then responded by saying "not even Water? What about tea or lemonade? Or do you want a diet coke?" When I told her again no thank you ill have nothing to drink, she rolled her eyes at me and made a rude face. :/

I think that was my biggest shock. I was apparently in extreme denial about how much I was eating and what portions I thought were normal! I know eating 3 ounces isn't exactly normal either but it's normal for a sleever. Anyway, I have been to a few restaurants post surgery and am amazed at how much food is served. My husband has cut down his portions substantially. So now when we go out to dinner we order something we both like. We share it and still bring leftovers home. It's great. And we save so much money!!
