    Food that get stuck

Im curious how far out from surgery are you? I get to start eating "mush" foods next week and I am so excited about mashed potatoes, but this makes me a little scared....

4 days and a wake up!

The week before is the hardest because you actually CAN eat if you choose too. After its much easier... gets boring on liquids, but you know you cant eat so its isn't that bad. Good luck. Im 2.5 weeks post op and really starting to feel good again.
  3. I asked this same question about 2 months ago and all but one said its the best thing they ever did and then one that did regret it would never say why. I am now 2.5 weeks post op.. spent the first 2 weeks wondering if I made a mistake, but Im feeling so much better this week and Im down 19 lbs. I don't regret it!
  4. Probably 5-7 days out, but I also put a pillow between my legs. It seems to help keep my body more aligned and hurts less.

Don't lose too much - aaaargh!

I cannot wait for someone to tell me I look to skinny!! haha Ya'll look great and its between you and your doc how much you lose! Keep your head up!
  6. Im about 2.5 weeks post op and I was so weak and tired I couldn't even think of getting on my treadmill, but I finally started this week. I can only stay on about 10 mins, but its getting better every day. Going for 15 mins next week!

    so tired and weak

My surgery was 8/13. Felt the exact same way... this is the first week, I've felt good. Give yourself another week and I bet you start coming around. Even people at work told me the sparkle in my eyes was coming back this week... haha apparently surgery took it out of me. Hang in there!
  8. Im 15 days post op: I thought the same thing - that is was coming off too slow, then bam another 4 lbs dropped off. I only weight myself 2X a week now, so I don't feel discouraged.
  9. Love the question! Not a specific outfit per se, but I want to wear RED. I always get compliments when I wear it, but I do it so little cuz I feel like a giant red balloon.

    My pet peeve

That sucks! I think you can block her from seeing your posts without unfriending her though (and causing more trouble)... so maybe you can start posting in peace. Google it.
  11. Including my 1 week pre-op liquid diet, I've only lost 13 lbs. I just thought it would be more. I know Im not getting in enough liquids, but that seems to be getting easier every day. Just wondering what others are seeing who have sleeved around the same time (8/13)?
  12. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I know everyone is different, I just expected more I guess, but it seems Im pretty much in line with what others are seeing. Good luck to us all!!

    Liquids

Yep, this part sucks. I drank Gatorade G2, and all flavors of Crystal Light, plus some Isopure for protein. It gets old fast, but I just keep looking toward the "the next step"!! Im at 10 days now, so I've added creamed soups. I was so looking forward to those and 3 days in, Im over those too! My next step is in 10 days - Mush foods! haha Good luck!
  14. Sleeved Aug 13. Not much pain or gas, but feeling weak this past week, which IS starting to get better. Having a hard time getting in all the liquid and protein - just not hungry/thirsty. I do fear dehydration and other probs associated with not enough protein though. Was hoping to feel better by now, but still kinda laying around the house - taking short walks every day, but can't go far = way less than before surgery. Trying to stay positive though. Just started "full" liquids yesterday, which includes my protein shakes and creamed soup - but even 4 oz. makes me so full. I know I'll get there, its just... ugh...
  15. Thanks for your post! Im one week out, down 11.6, but having the feeling of "what have I done". We are very similar in height and weight! I hope to be where you are in 3 months. Keep up the good work!!
  16. I didn't cancel, but the morning of my surgery - they had me come in at 6a and didn't do the surgery till after 9a. I cried most of the morning, not sure if I should do it or not. I kept thinking: Did I research enough? Should I just spend the money on a trainer and a nutritionist? What are the long term problems that I don't even know about? A nurse that that gastric bypass came in and talked to me about her situation (she was very tiny by the way) and how she didn't regret it even though there are things you have to deal with in the future. I said OK, lets do this... they gave me some "calming" medication and I went through with it. It's been 1 week - I've lost 11.6 lbs total, but Im not gonna lie... if I had to do it again, I might not. Its very hard to not eat for 6 weeks, give yourself shots of heparin and you'll still be on some sort of diet for the rest of your life. I still keep thinking I should've just kicked myself in the a$$ and did it the old fashioned way. That being said... I tried that for many years and it didn't work... which is why I am in the position that I am - 100 lbs over weight. I don't mean to discourage you, but I want to give you a realistic view from someone who recently had it done and second thoughts up until the surgery. Who knows in another several weeks and 50 lbs down, I might be singing a different tune. Good luck!
  17. I am in the process of getting ins approval, but I just recently went to Coney Island and rode the famous Cyclone. I almost had the same experience... the ride operator was asking me to sit up taller so he could push in my safety bar... I was embarrassed. Can't wait till this time next year!! Have fun at Hershey Park - thats a fun one - lots of great rides!
  18. Thanks amytug - that's what I keep doing - I've even online shopped for normal sized clothes... that is what keeps me going in this direction! I appreciate the encouragement!
  19. Sharonintx, those are exactly the things Im worried about - though giving those things up is hard, its sounds like its worth it though right? That's what Im trying to weigh = Staying fat, but enjoying my life (including food and drink) or giving those up and enjoying life in a whole new way - shopping and feeling good about myself.
  20. Luckysmomma, it sounds like you're losing weight and not many complications, can you tell me why you regret it? Feel free to message me if you'd like. I am curious...
  21. Thank you all - listening to you makes go back to feeling like this IS the right decision!
  22. I just decided to pursue the gastric sleeve and I have my first appt next week. I know there are medical tests and insurance hoops to jump through, but whats the normal length of time from the first appt until surgery?
