How soon can I return to work after Lap Band?
princess_n_thep replied to DAA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a desk job of Surgery Wed and back to work on Monday. -
LOL, I mean he gets out the new roll because he needs it. Then it ends up on the floor with the empty roll still on the darn spinner. How long would that pizza box lay on the counter if you didn't walk it out to the garbage can? Mine would stay for WEEKS! You have a bidet? Where?

All is good. Just heal.

I got one. My man is so wierd that he gets upset when I take a shower and use two towels instead of one, therefore leaving him a wet towel. One for my body, one for my hair. He is bald so he needs one and doesn't understand that I need two. He doesn't go and get another towel from the pantry before getting in the shower. Instead he just yells, moans, groans and whimpers dripping wet from the shower until I bring him a fresh towel. And then do you know what he has the balls to say???? "Can you warm it in the dryer honey." OMG! MEN! And while we are on the subject... is my man the only one who refuses to change the empty toilet paper roll and will just lay it on the floor?

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, can I change my vote to Yogi??? I love that! Good suggestion!

Erosion, The Real Facts
princess_n_thep replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So are they supposed to make assumptions about how they think I should feel or act? I think personality is such a delicate thing. Just because someone does not exhibit the traits, characteristics, or ideals that the psychologist feels they should have does not mean that they should be able to exclude them from making a decision about their body. I agree that is doesn't hurt to go and talk to someone to just have the additional thoughts but when that someone has the option and leisure to either promote or stop your approval for what you want done with your body, THAT I have issues with. -
Erosion, The Real Facts
princess_n_thep replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And they can tell that from one session??? I doubt it. It's hoopla! If anyone is having depressing thoughts (and we all saw the results of the suicidal thoughts thread) then they definitely would NOT tell the Psych that. If so, they would not be passed. Case in point... my sister did her psych and did not get recommended, she returned for a re eval 3 months later with another psych and lied her ass off about the rosey aspect and postive outlook on life and VIOLA... she had her surgery. All bunk I tell ya. I am so glad that I can have the choice to go to Mexico and make my own health decisions. Even if those decisions come at a price, medically or pocketbook. I would use my Mexico surgeon again as I think he is very competant and and expert in the field. However, I would not go back to Mexico for the surgery because I don't care how many of you say it, it is not the same medical and cleanliness standards. Let us admit one thing... if you went to Mexico and had the surgery, the appearance initially was appealing and clean. But after the surgery you spent a day or so just wallowing in the pain meds and didn't see any more than they wanted you to see. I do feel like a ticking timebomb. I do obsess recently about the occurance of Mexico based erosions, very coincidental and suspicious. I do have issues about where I will get the money to pay for a removal. I do wonder what will I do for a "tool" in weight loss. I do worry about possible damage that can be done to my insides from the erosion. I do worry about being opened up yet again causing more scars. I do appreciate and admire those that have eroded and still participate in the boards. I respect the eroded bandsters courage and posititve outlook because if I lost my band, things would not be good and everyone around me should worry like hell if I will make it through it. I love my surgeon and think he is a fantastic bariatric surgeon and I do recommend HIM to others but I do warn others about possible pitfalls of going to Mexico the country for their surgery. It just isn't the same and it is a risk you assume. We all knew that risk when we had our surgeries there. Some heed my warning, others have had their surgery there with him. My thoughts reflecting: I have the band and love my band I have now. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have chosen the band and would have opted for a more permanant and solid weight loss surgery. I am seriously contemplating having the band removed now before problems arise and converting to another form of weight loss surgery. If I find a doctor who will do that with me 20 lbs from goal, then I shall start planning. I just don't feel that the band is the "for life" option it was touted originally. Off topic: I too am intensely irritated by people who are banded and then ask a question that is obviously supposed to have been covered before surgery, either from the surgeon or the research they did to make an educated opinion. I am also irritated by postings that ask a question that can be covered by a simple search. Grrr, damn it I posted again. -

Your whole world will change after the fill. Life as you know it pre filled will cease. The sky will cloud and you will truly know that you have made a change forever. Thunder will rise in the west as you must now PB on that twinkie or ho ho that you have tried to ingest. Lightning will strike you as you slime up that piece of gooey ooey bread you once liked to slop in your gravy.... HA HA.... well it DOES change after a fill but I don't know if it is all that dramatic, but it sounded good. I healed fast too and starved during weeks 3-6. Hold on, the change is coming! Stay strong!!! :target:

Help! Looking for a Dr. In the Los Angeles area that accepts patients from MX
princess_n_thep replied to auntnettie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is precisely the reason why it is warned so heavily that you MUST secure/find post op care before you band. It may or may not make some decisions for you as to spend the extra money for the states. I don't know if they have one in your area, but www.fillcenterusa.com does fills for out of country banded patients. It is VERY hard to find a doctor that will work on out of country patients. Most of us just make the trek back to Mexico it seems. As for the flouro vs no flouro I personally would only ever do flouro with swallow. And I certainly wouldn't want anyone but a doctor doing the sticks into my $10,000 investment. -
Some facts regarding Gastric Balloons
princess_n_thep replied to SouthTX LapBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a friend that had the balloon, she is now banded. The balloon did burst and the solution did show that it leaked. However, the balloon went into the intestinal tract and she had to have it surgically removed. -
Too much Morning Restriction Anyone
princess_n_thep replied to JAYGERL05's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I cannot eat after waking up. Doesn't matter if it is morning or night. I keep wierd sleeping schedules because of work but for the first 3-4 hours after waking, it is liquids only. And only room temp or warm liquids. I have been this way since my fill. I don't mind it much though since I have lost so much. By the time dinner rolls around, I only fight one meal to be good. -
Okay, okay. But I will only let you see the right one..... How about we use this as the "someday it will be" picture rather than a before or after..... And I vote to keep the thread open. It is in fun, not in distaste and predators will prey on anyone willing to open themselves to that, not just because there is talk about a boob.

I have it. I didn't use insurance but I know that Arizona Humana PPO did a trial coverage of the lapband for 1 year and it ended last April 2005. They haven't covered it since. In Gastric Bypass, it only covers it if there is "extreme need and circumstances". I think it depends on what state you live in too. All you can do is submit and try!!!

Hmmmm, I seem opposite. I think Old Navy runs larger than normal. I have been wearing a size 12 but with Old Navy I can do some 10's. Maybe their plus sizes are smaller? The Gap definitely runs larger though.
