    vegan diet

Interesting question! I was vegan and gluten free for almost all of 2012. I found plenty of things to eat- but not the lowest calorie, healthiest things. I was also wondering how one would get their Protein in after the sleeve. I love tofu, quinoa and Beans but not sure how the sleeve would handle beans, especially at the beginning. (Are they considered more of a carb?)There are plenty of vegan protein powders out there but as a lifestyle, I would want more variety than shakes, tofu and beans. Any vegetarian or vegan sleevers out there?
  5. You look fantastic! I love hearing hearing updates a year or more out. Best of Luck and continued success. The holidays are almost over so its a good time to renew your dedication. I have heard the pouch and the 5;2 diet to help get on track. Happy New year!
  6. Same here, three times. Unless I'm doing laundry in which case I will wash them sooner. And there is always the occasional desperate day where I pull them back out of the laundry basket and wear again .
  7. Hey guys, did anyone feel like they were up to going home after the two nights in the hospital and one night at the hotel vs two nights at the hotel? I hate the idea of such a long flight so was thinking about getting a late flight on the night prior to my supposed check out...The late flight is the only direct flight to Miami and I could sleep so it wouldnt be as bad. I could stay the two nights but I would still want to take the late flight out and I would have too much time to kill in San Diego :/ Anything interesting to do there?
  8. Thanks Amazon, The zoo would not interest me in the least! So the extra night made a big difference for you. Thanks for sharing!
  9. Thanks guys, I will make sure to be prepared just in case. McButterpants, same day in and out? You're quite the soldier! That makes two hospital nights and one hotel night seem like a luxury!

My Mexico Story with the Sleeve

Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad you are home resting and recovering. While there's no place like home, you should have been made to feel comfortable throughout your experience. They need to work on their bedside manner! Hopefully the worst is behind you!
  12. All the love in this post, just giving me goosebumps! I know the move all too well also, stretch out that shirt, make it longer. I taught my guy the same trick :/ Oh and punch it out from the inside to make it loser..
  13. My biggest fear about having this surgery is dying from a pulmonary embolism. When the thoughts of the possibility crosses my mind, I get angry at myself for not being able to lose weight without this drastic measure. Can anyone tell me if your doctor in Mexico gave heparin injections before surgery to reduce the risk? I have been reading on preventative measures such as lots of walking and fluids etc, compression stockings... I don't know why all of a sudden I am focusing on this one thing when all along I have been so excited and looking forward to this. I guess the fact that surgery risks include blood clots, flying does also... I am feeling alot of guilt at the POSSIBILITY of something happening to me and feel like my kids being left without a mother would be the most selfish thing for me to do. Anyone else working through these feelings?

    Transformation Tuesday

Beautiful transformation! You look tiny Congrats!
  15. Wow bladefox, I am glad your test came back negative. Yes walking after surgery is important and what i didnt realize is that it can happen weeks after surgery so making the commitment to keep on walking is key. We can do it! Thank you Roo. The fact that you went through with this having had two previous PE shows your courage! So glad it all went well and that you had no complications. Its a relief to hear that its standard that something is given to help prevent clots. I will move move move on the plane for sure! Thanks for your reply. It gives me some peace.

    Failed

You invested in your health and in yourself with this surgery so remember who you are doing this for because you are worth it! Its just a setback, but get back on it, you can do it! Although I havent been sleeved yet, I have already started preparing myself mentally to give up rice post op. I know its a weakness. I know I can eat ALOT of it. I know this will be a struggle for me. We will all have our battles but we can win the war. Best of luck to you!
  17. Thanks Lovemyworld. I really need to switch my thinking around. My kids do deserve a healthy mom. I appreciate the info on the docs, I will check it out.

  20. Thanks for posting your experience. It is posts like these that help others decide in choosing a doctor. I have had my mind made up for months about using Dr. Fernando Garcia but as time passes I keep reading these good things about Dr. Illan. Im confused! But good to know there are some good options in Mexico. As soon as I get that tax refund I will be booking surgery. Cant wait!
  21. I will be having surgery in March but i already told my bf I will reward myself at goal with a pair of christian louboutin black patent leather heels

    1 day post op

Sounds like your recovery is going well. Best wishes on your new journey!!
  23. Rebecca sparkles ouch! Sounds painful hopefully scarring will be minimal. I will keep it in mind when I am post op as I tend to push myself , as most women do trying to take care of kids and housework. LynRN thanks so much for your reply, good to hear what the doc has to say about our situation
