I'm on day 8 of my pre-op diet which is 5 shakes of Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement and 64oz of water daily. S/F popcicles and jello are also allowed.
I've lost 19 pounds! Wow!
Here's my personal truth. I haven't done a lot of feeling hungry in my lifetime. I'm not really used to it and the consequences are what's brought me here. I am surrendered to do what it takes to improve my quality of life.
What I keep saying to myself is, "I'm having most of my stomach removed! If I can't stick to the pre-op diet, how can I possibly expect that I would do it post op?! They can't put my stomach back if I don't follow the program! Now is the time to be sure about my decision."
This is an important time for all of us. It's defining.
I am going through a hospital-owned surgical weight loss program in Metro Atlanta. Maybe that's the difference. I was very carefully vetted for this procedure and am being very closely monitored during the pre-op phase.
If you are struggling, I wonder if a call to one of the surgeons team members might be a helpful next step. You are their patient, this is major surgery, and you deserve their A-Game!
I wish you peace during this important part of the process.
