Ive been vaping too. My surgery is in 24 days. Ive had the occasional cigarette. Im worried. My doc said to quit a month before. The stressors in my life plus dieting have made it so hard. Vaping helps. I spoke to the nurse practitioner who said they test carboxyhemoglobin. Doc said I can use patch up to surgery except on surgery day. Im confused. Is vaping going to show up. I plan on switching to 0.0 mg nicotine vap before surgery. I dont want to mess up my surgery

I asked my doctor if nicotine patch was ok and was told it was. I was told the test was for carboxyhemoglobin which test levels of CO in blood. Ive been researching ever since. Turns out blood level returns to normal within 48 hours after last smoke. What does this mean? Im going to have occasional cigarette until about 10 days before my test. I know that this is stupid. Im just not able.

Any October sleevers?
mel959 replied to beachgirlaz52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just submitted everything this very instant. Its been a rough battle filled process. Hoping the surgeon's office submits everything to my insurance company. I Have bmi of 47, diabetes high blood pressure and sleep apnea. A trifecta. I am so nervous that my life is now in the hands of insurance people who don't see this as a means of having a chance at healthy life. Im praying and hopeful. Does anyone know how long it takes for UH/OXFORD. -
Has anyone noticed that after having successfully had surgery and lost weight, that you have had a better outlook on life? Has it changed your personality

Im just wondering if it will give me boost I need. Already the prep to this journey has been very emotional for me. Ive been upturning everything that was once established and getting all my stuff out in the open for meto deal with since iwont have food to repress or replace emotions. I wonder if the culmination will be this surgery and I can expect that with my new life I will finally feel like ok ive a sense of accomplishment and no longer hide behind my fat shell -
Question. My surgery is in oct. I quit smoking today. Im dying... can I do ecigarettes? Just lowering dose until surgery to the 0.00 mg nicotine up to a week or two before surgery,

Im to quit smoking 30 days before surgery. Ive been a smoker 15 years. Is the vapor thing ok, I mean is it safe to do. Will it disqualify me or delay surgery? Im tentatively scheduled for october 4. I know this is necessary but I love cigarettes sometimes more than food

mel959 replied to beachgirlaz52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

need to loose 20lbs before surgery
mel959 replied to mel959's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Craving getting better. I went to a bbq had a cheese burger without bun and grilled asparagus. It satisfied. I lost total of 15lbs with still 2 months to go. I'm scared that ill start gaining if I let myself relax too much. Would like to loose 15 more in next 2 months to get under preop goal and show myself I can do this lifestyle change even postop -
Did all my requirements only missing 2 more months weighins. Surgery will tentatively be end of sept/oct. Started a diet on june 19. Lost 10lbs so far. I'm feeling frustrated. For all my sacrifice and effort I'm afraid I won't reach 20 lbs loss before surgery. I know I'm already halfway but I'm craving burgers so bad I dream of bacon cheese burgers in my sleep... I'm taking this seriously just am scared I won't make it....

I'm IMPATIENTLY waiting.....
mel959 replied to tmposton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate this waiting as well. My last 6 mth appt is in September. I wish they didn't make jump through hoops like this. Doctor states surgery should be October. Cannot wait. I'm jealous of people posting july surgery dates -
Had a very similar experience. Someone I believed to be supportive told me I hadn't convinced her of the necessity of this procedure. I was being lazy and had not tried seriously. Who is she anyway my insurance company who must approve or deny? People love to have opinions. A new (recent breakup) ex of mine said yesterday he can't be with me because he opposes the fact that I'm doing this. Funny how he wants me to continue to be unhealthy alongside him. Inform yourself. In your heart you know what's right for you. I'm (im)patiently waiting for my surgery. Another 3 months before I submit everything. I'm happy I've chosen me for once and am ready to have a new life instead of hiding in my fat.

I also did my sleep study last week when the tech arrived with CPAP during the night I thought I was going to go into a panic attack. Just what I need more comorbities... I don't know how I can make myself sleep with that horrid thing between now and surgery

Thank you so much for responding. I was told yesterday surgery could be oct as I already completed 3 months with pcp. I'm rushing to get all other steps completed as I rreally want to do this. Congratulations on your surgery and weight loss. Please let me know if we can be buddies through this process. I think positive reinforcement is something I need right now! All the best
