  1. I'm wondering the same thing. Except, my surgeon requires the 6 month diet, not the insurance. I'm hoping I can talk him into shortening the time or something. I've tried every diet under the sun and the only thing that has ever worked, and only dropped 65lbs, was starving myself and working out excessively.
  2. That's awesome! Are you doing anything specific/special for those kind of results?
  3. Oh my I'm 27, and I've been fluffy for most my life. I know my skin won't be looking too hot.
  4. Hi there! I've been lurking here and I'm also looking for friends! Apparently my surgeon is a popular guy, my appointment for a consult with him isn't until the 11th of July. A few years back I went through all of this with hopes of getting RNY, because it was that it the Lapband. I finished all my requirements, and just before they wheeled me away the anesthesiologist noticed my blood platelet levels were on the low side. My surgeon failed to look over my labs beforehand and cancelled my surgery (a 2 hour drive there too). I gave up and was sort of relieved because I wasn't comfortable with the RNY procedure, but would take what I could get. Anyhow, that leads to now. My husband is in the military and they opened up a bariatric center at the hospital on base. The surgeon can perform the sleeve surgery and I don't have to worry about insurance at all just a long waiting game. He does require a 6 month diet, but I have documentation of previous diets such as my doctor putting me on phen phen so I'm hoping it will lessen the waiting period. Anyhow, I have two kiddos, one boy and one girl and we are stationed in Alaska.
  5. Hi there, I happened to stumble across your posts while looking for people who had surgery at MTF's. It just so happens that you're getting your VSG where I am planning to I only just started the process today by getting a referral to the bariatric center, but it's not my first rodeo. I had went through the process once before, but with a civilian surgeon.. whom failed to look at my labs before surgery. One of the nurses pointed out that my platelets were too low just before they wheeled me back into the OR. So yay for other people who pay attention. I hope your surgery went well and I'm interested in your thoughts/opinions on the process/surgeon/staff when you are feeling up for it!
