Hi there! I've been lurking here and I'm also looking for friends! Apparently my surgeon is a popular guy, my appointment for a consult with him isn't until the 11th of July. A few years back I went through all of this with hopes of getting RNY, because it was that it the Lapband. I finished all my requirements, and just before they wheeled me away the anesthesiologist noticed my blood platelet levels were on the low side. My surgeon failed to look over my labs beforehand and cancelled my surgery (a 2 hour drive there too). I gave up and was sort of relieved because I wasn't comfortable with the RNY procedure, but would take what I could get. Anyhow, that leads to now. My husband is in the military and they opened up a bariatric center at the hospital on base. The surgeon can perform the sleeve surgery and I don't have to worry about insurance at all just a long waiting game. He does require a 6 month diet, but I have documentation of previous diets such as my doctor putting me on phen phen so I'm hoping it will lessen the waiting period. Anyhow, I have two kiddos, one boy and one girl and we are stationed in Alaska.
