December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
MissKatt replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They (the hospital here) only do Versed, which is a twilight sleep. You're still awake and talking, but you have no recollection of it. I'm just stubborn, and if I'm going to get a procedure done that I'm going to be awake for anyway, I'd rather remember it lol Also, I googled Versed. I'm sure you can imagine what results popped up lol -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
MissKatt replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have just been wanting to get them all done as fast as possible. It didn't seem real until he called with my date The EGD was certainly interesting. I opted to not get sedated. They took several biopsies and I felt crampy for a few days after that. The process itself was more nerve wracking than uncomfortable -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
MissKatt replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't been around much lately. Was getting extremely discouraged because my surgery was suppose to be around next week, but the surgeon didn't have any dates available... but he called today and my surgery date is December 4th! I'm excited and terrified at the same time. I've never had any type of surgery before... I'm sure I'll manage though -
How much protein powder have you stocked up on? I'm a little curious as to how much I should have on hand for at least a month.
-
Oh my! I tried Salmon for the first time about a year ago. I figured since I'm in Alaska... why not try the freshest, best tasting stuff while I'm here. (I refused to eat seafood before). I loved it though. I hope I can tolerate it after.

I bit the bullet and ordered the tubs because shipping is costly and quite slow to my location. I just want to make sure I have it on hand lol
-
Thanks, I did! I got chicken broth mostly for the beginning. I plan on picking up some unflavored kind as well.
-
I don't have a date quite yet, hoping to get that on the 15th when I meet with my surgeon again. *fingers crossed* It should be in November though. I've been doing the process since May. It seems like it's been forever! I think it would be wise to grab a few more unjury protein mixes then, thanks for the input!

I have two more nutritionist appointments to go before I get a date, all my other pre op tests are done...and I find myself thinking "what if I would be better off with gastric bypass?". My only reasoning behind that is for faster, guaranteed weight loss. Has anyone else experienced this? I really had my mind set on being sleeved, now I'm second guessing.

If my surgical team were at all helpful or existent I would be. I go to an MTF on base. You get better communication in Mexico. I was just asking if anyone had second guesses, nothing more ..thanks.

That is fantastic news! Glad to hear

Good luck!

Yay! I finished my last hoop today as well, but it was the psych eval. Since mine will be done on a military installation, I don't have to mess with insurance. Just have to hurry up and wait

I was awake for mine, but it was a regular upper endoscopy. It wasn't all that bad for me. They said I did better than the sedated (versed, not propofol I assume) people. I just had a hard time after. My chest, back and stomach all hurt. I still have a little bit of pinching sensations still from where they took the biopsies. Just trying to help out the folks who are about to get one
-
I had my EGD this morning, no sedatives. It was okay, and went quick but my stomach, chest and back hurt. Nothing too bad, but it's making me really uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to make it feel better? Eating seems to make it worse.

EGD... ugh. Pain after?

Upper endoscopy. They stick a camera on a tube down your throat. Not fun lol -

I think it is at least. I've never had an abnormal one before. My only medical condition is asthma. Here's a quick picture I took of the readout before I dropped it off to my surgeon. Anyone have any experience with this or thoughts? Anything that has to do with my heart really freaks me out. *Edit* I had to delete the attached photo, but it says; Normal Sinus rhythm Right axis deviation Nonspecific ST and T wave abnormal Abnormal ECG.
-
I've done a lot of searching on the internet, there isn't much - but my asthma could be a factor with the right axis deviation. With the ST and T waves, my anxiety could have been a factor or the leads were simply placed wrong by the tech. I haven't got a call from my surgeon, he called me the day my labs came back with low iron showing, so I guess I'm not dying ( I hope) but still freaks me out lol

one week post op in need of nutrition advice
MissKatt replied to miss_lalaaa's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Unjury.com It seems a little expensive, but from what I gather a lot of the folks on here like it. High in protein as well. They also have unflavored protein you can add to anything. -

What are you eating now? Have you tried Unjury? -
Yay! I survived the 3 week post op liquid diet!
MissKatt replied to TexasRed1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon requires the same, but my surgery isn't for a while yet. Glad you are feeling better and getting to eat yummy things! Yay textures! lol
