Dr. Keyur Chavda - Tampa, FL/Brandon, FL...Brandon Regional Hospital reviews?
Pkusmc replied to Andi07's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I used Dr John Dietrick on Bruce B Downs in Tampa. He is right next door to the hospital - Florida Medical. I love this doctor. He does not discharge you from care like Mose do after a year. He likes to follow his patients much longer. I am 100 lbs lighter! He does blood work periodically to check your vitamin and other minerals levels and watched for malabsorption. My surgery was 3 yrs ago, and I still see him every 6 months or so if I have any concerns. -
dbmd, I have the same problem with starting puréed diet the day of my daughter's baby shower at my house! Maybe they will have potatoes or a veggie you can mash. You will do great!

I was sleeved on the 9th and still weak. Anyone short of breath when they do anything?
-
Hi all, I was sleeved on the 9th .....tomorrow will be 1 wk post-op. my doctor requires 2 wks of liquids which will end on the 23rd. The next day is my daughter's BABY Barbeque Bash at our home. All that catered Barbeque and I won't be able to have any unless I purée it. Wonder how it would taste???? Feeling good except I still get tired. Is that normal?

Well, it is 4am and I am getting ready to leave for the hospital in an hour. I am so nervous that my heart rate is 94! I guess I am scared about the unknown. How will I do after surgery? Will I be able to take in enough fluids? ........ Well, wish me luck and I will see you on the other side of being sleeved! Pat

Hi, My name is Pat and I am glad that I found this site. I am 63 yrs young and when I recently looked at a copy of my medical records and read " Morbidly Obese" it sent a chill through me. I decided to finally do something about it and went to the weight loss seminar....the first step. Today I had my first appointment with my surgeon. I first met with the dietician who spent quite some time going over what to expect in terms of pre-op/post-op, dos and don'ts....and gave me folder with info to read. Then met with the surgeon who I really like. I will be having the sleeve and said I was a good candidate. I have recently been through several medically supervised weight loss programs so once they receive all my medical paperwork, I will be on a 2 wk liquid diet before surgery. I fellI am ahead as I just had a cardiac work up 3 wks agos so after my appt. today I went down the street to the other clinic and got copies of my blood work, EKG and chest X-ray and hand carried then back. I now need to to the psych eval and then get scheduled for my pre-op. I was apprehensive before I went to my appt but after meeting with the dietician and surgeon I feel less apprehensive. My daughter is expecting her first child in October and I want to be able to roll around the floor with her and be able to chase after her. I have taken the first step to improving the quality and longevity of my life. I look forward to all the knowledge and assistance I can get from all of you that have taken this journey.

I live in the Tampa area and my pre-op appt is July 23rd and surgery August 9th. My surgeon is Dr John Dietrick in Tampa. I made the mistake of reading someone's complications story and am scared to death! All I need is to have complications for my husband to tell you " I told you so."

Welcome to Florida! I just finished reading your complications story and now I am scared. My surgery is scheduled for August 9th.

New to the Sleeve, but not new to WLS

Why do you say you have regrets? I haven't been sleeved yet. -
Based on all the reviews, I just ordered my starter kit. I tried Atkins shake today and it was fine except for the after taste. Trying to find the right ones for tastes as I am not a milk drinker.

protein shake making me nauseous! help!
Pkusmc replied to sleevly's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have my psych eval on Wednesday and then will be scheduled for my pre-op. I decided to do a "dry run" with the shakes before my 2 wks of liquids. I tried the Atkins protein shake which was ok but leaves an after taste. I read hear about body fortress......anyone else recommend protein drinks that taste good with no after taste? Thanks. -
first day on pre op liquid diet and I have a really bad headache
Pkusmc replied to angel23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also new to,the forum and had my first appt with the dietician and surgeon. I have my psych eval this week and then I will be scheduled for my pre-op and surgery. I am getting ready and decided to do a semi-dry run. I bought Atkins shakes and will see what they taste like. I am slowly weaning myself off sugar and soda. I am to do a 2 wks liquid before surgery.....I was surprised that I also get to eat a low carb meal each day. Thought it would be ALL liquid. Can you tell me which shakes you found tasted the best? Thanks. -
Well, not really Tampa..I live in Seffner.
