I take Bariatric Advantage not perfect in taste but more imporant they don't make me sick. Your taste buds will change after surgery so don't buy too much of anything. As far as bras I had to buy at 3 months, 5 months and 7 months. I was also a 32B back in tbe day, A 42D at my biggest, now a 36D and I basically roll what I have left and stuff em in, lol. Just try to find your bras on sale and don't buy a bunch because you will only wear a short time Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I ate perfectly, got all my Protein and Vitamins, took Biotin and B 12 and my hair fell out in clumps from 12 weeks to 20 weeks. Now at 7 months its growing back and I have an Albert Einstein thing going on. It is what it is. Either way, it WILL grow back Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Eating without thinking
UberBuffaloGal replied to Mimi52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh I totally dids the same thing! I was 5 days post op and was slicing a cantaloupe for my son. I always taste it to see how ripe the fruit is. I popped it in my mouth and swallowed it before I had time to think. I was so scared, it taught me a valuable lesson. For years I had eaten without thinking. I am now 7 months out 77 down and 20 from goal. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App -
Sleeve scheduled for 10/19- would you do it again?
UberBuffaloGal replied to jaylee9146's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would definitely do it again, but it was miserable for me. I didn't have any complications, but my hunger never left. My stomach would growl so loud others could hear it. I was hungry all the time for the first three months, but could not eat. I was miserable. Now 7 months out, I am used to my growling tummy and less food. But now thirsty all the time, and is hard to get Water in. But, in the end so very worth it! 238 to 161, 20 lbs from goal. No diabetes, no sleep apnea, I had a hernia they repaired so no more reflux. But most amazingly of all I have had migraines for 4 to 5 days a week for years. I have had one migraine in the last 7 months. That alone made it totally worth it. My question is for sleevers who have had back surgery and still have significant back difficulty. How did the surgery affect your back. I had an MRI two years ago and was in excruciating pain following, due to lying on my back. Also how did you handle the post op. Walking? I cannot walk far due to back pain. Thanks

So glad you are doing better! You look FANTASTIC!!!

Hi Jensnewjourney, I know several people who were approved quickly and easily by Aetna. Several of us have had difficulty, some did not have a weight history. Or meet all the requirements in bulletin 0157. If you meet all the requirements there you will be okay. If they do deny, you will have grounds for an appeal. Don't worry until it happens. It is taking me more time, but I know I will get there. Good luck.

Hi SoPeachy28, Sorry so long the holidays are crazy over here in Casa Buffalo, lol. Namely my family is crazy and I need time to recover. So why is low potassium bad? What does it mean and how does it affect surgery? I really admire you! Two weeks of pre-op, Wow! I am reading a book called "Life Interrupted" and it is about how after the fact we can see how God has guided our path, but how sometimes in the moment we want our will not his. Lol, that is so my life right now. Anyway, enough about me, SURGERY!!! You must be so excited. What time do you go in? Ill b praying for you. I am in California, What time zone r u in? Keep in touch when you can. All the best.

I am okay no matter what. God has a plan :-). Tho it would be nice to have such a great tool to help me lose this weight. Good luck girl, you've got this

I was denied by Aetna and we very frustrated because the insurance said My sleep apnea was not severe enough to warrant surgery. With a BMI well over 40 for over two years, my surgeon believed it would be a simple peer to peer to explain the apnea was irrelevant. I was again denied. When I received my letter it stated my BMI had not been over 40 for two years. This baffled me, the insurance gave me dates of service when my bmi was 35-37 then 43, the following month. This didn't make sense to me as I know I have not lost any weight over the last few years. So I asked my doctors(gp) office to research. It turns out that there is another patient in the office with the same name and she is 5 inches taller. On two occasions they entered my height incorrectly! I am hoping with the new information, my appeal will go though. I am posting because I was ready to give up. I may still be denied, but not without a fight. Thank you everyone who told me to fight, question, and keep calling (insurance and docs office)till I get someone who will help.

Hi Mazzers120, What's ur status? Did Aetna come thru? Waiting on appeal? Mexico? Just curious? I'm still waiting on Aetna.

Yay, you are finally on the losers bench. I am so sorry you are having a hard time. I know it sounds cliche, but start reading some of the long threads where people start and post through all the pain and difficulty with protein and hydration and it finally passes. Might help visualize light at the end of the tunnel. How are you doing today? I am still waiting on insurance.
-
Hi SoPeachy, That definitely sounds way too long. Have you called them and your surgeon's office? What did they say? I was told on the phone that they have 30 days to give you an answer. But remember that 30 days resets every time they ask for more info. So if your doctor had to send in additional information they have another 30days. Your case sounds cut and dry, if they do deny you, get your letter and go over your records. Turns out I was denied because my height had been entered incorrectly on two gp visits. Don't give up. Hope it all works out quickly

So Many Problems. Worth It?
UberBuffaloGal replied to Tracy Anderson's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Please call your doctor today. I took care of my mom after her surgery and turned out the "coffee grounds" consistency was blood. Doc sent us to ER and she had to have transfusions. I am not a doctor, but better safe than sorry, give them a call. If it is nothing no harm done. Good luck.
