I'm Kate and live in Prescott, AZ...40 years old with 6 gorgeous children and 1 grandchild. Banded June 2, 2007 in Mexicali Mexico by Dr. Aceves (a perfectly wonderful experience!). 283 lbs the day before surgery, as of this morning I am down to 265 lbs. Dr. Aceves likes his patients on Clear liquids for 10 days then full liquids for 3 weeks. So I am still with broth, Water, juice and Jello. I use Isopure clear Protein drinks (2 a day) and liquid Vitamins too. Not hungry which surprises me. Seem to be healing nicely, still dealing with some bloating though. I just walk, walk and keep walking Papaya Extract and Ginger also seem to be helping. This has been a life altering decision. Ready to make the change and looking forward to feeling healthier. I have been over weight most of my teenage and adult life. I topped out at 299 lbs in August 2004 when I gave birth to my youngest daughter. Right now I am trying to concentrate on healing and will focus on weight loss after the first 5 weeks has gone by. Then I will be including 5 days of exercise per week and some swimming too. I am so excited. This aspect of my life has been so out of control, it's great to be doing something about it. The Band will be a great tool as I change my eating and exercise habits!

Another Bandster mentioned Papaya Extract and it has helped me and yes do walk walk and walk! I am 9 days post op. Kate

I am right there with you! I am 40, 6 kids, ages 21, 19, 18, 16, 15 and 3! I just don't have the energy to keep up with the little one and I have 1 granchild who just turned 2. I was self pay and used Dr Aceves in Mexico, great experience. I contacted his office and within 2 days I had a surgery date scheduled a week later! WOW! Banded 6/2/2007 and doing well, 283 down to 265 in 9 days. I wish I had the surgery in my 20's. Maybe my skin would have been more elastic, LOL. Keep looking to the future it is going to be glorious! I am 40 and wish I had had the surgery in my 20's. I have developed high blood pressure and PCOS mostly due to my weight. Knees hurt, I snore and can't keep up with the kids! LOL I also think my skin wouuld have been more elastic back then and would shrink better with the weight loss.
