I honestly think some of the after pics look worse. I hope I end up looking better after but if not at least I'll be healthier!

Scoobysworkshop.com and askscooby.com are great.

You are right' date=' the non religious have been oppressing the religious for centuries, denying them equal rights, burning people at the stake, and engaging in a widespread organized child abuse scandal, oh wait no they haven't...[/quote']
Because only religious people do those things, right?

Came to the thread expecting knee jerk reactions from closed minded anti religion bigots, was not disappointed.

If he does not agree with the surgery then he probably shouldn't have it! Your body your choice.

I think I will be honest about it and tell whoever asks about it. It may be they are asking because they are looking for help for themselves or another. Lying about it or keeping it secret makes it seem like it is something to be ashamed of. I do not believe it is.

I had similar issues with my PCP. I told her I wanted a referral to the surgeon and she told me I should just eat a lot of giant salads to lose weight, in addition to trying to scare me off with horror stories...wth? I called my insurer the same day and got a new PCP.

My previous PCP was the same way. She tried to scare me off with stories of how she had patients who had WLS and now have brain damage or something because of Vitamin deficiencies. I called my insurer the same day and got a new PCP.

I'm just waiting to see my surgeon for the first appointment still. Feels like it is dragging on forever.

Complications are rare, people who post on forums are a vocal minority.

That and just have him look at testimonials by a great deal of people who have had the procedure done, and go through the before and after threads.

Dear god, paragraphs please!
If you have not, I suggest you bring him to one of the free seminars that pretty much all bariatric programs seem to do. If he or you have questions you can ask the doctors themselves at the seminar. It might just be that he needs more information on how and why these procedures are done and how it all works.

The way I am looking at it is this: When you have a diseased appendix, you have it removed. When your gallbladder is full of gallstones and the only way to solve the problem is removal, you get it removed. I see my stomach as causing me a problem, so I'm getting a large part of it removed.

Yeah I'm going to struggle with this as well.

These aren't videos of the procedure exactly but Dr. Alvarez has a great Q&A series on Youtube I just came across.

If you love your husband don't let him get an rny or ds. Know that if for whatever reason a vsg does not work for him the option is still available to get rny or ds later, but the opposite is not true. Malabsorption is no joke. I'm not a med pro but the more I read about rny and ds the scarier it gets. I initially wanted to get one of those but after researching them and comparing them all vsg seems to be a great middle ground risk vs efficacy.

Anyone got any good videos with narration of the surgery? The most informative one I've found so far is this one
Has it really come to this?

As my surgery date draws near, I find myself questioning the wisdom of having the majority of a major organ removed. Have I really become this desperate for a change? The more I think about it the more bizarre it seems. The fact that the sleeve is considered a "newer" WLS really makes me nervous about the long term. Everyone thought the band was amazing years ago and now it seems there are widespread issues with it.
