Second Guessing my decision!
Heartonsleeve replied to SLF1027's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you love your husband don't let him get an rny or ds. Know that if for whatever reason a vsg does not work for him the option is still available to get rny or ds later, but the opposite is not true. Malabsorption is no joke. I'm not a med pro but the more I read about rny and ds the scarier it gets. I initially wanted to get one of those but after researching them and comparing them all vsg seems to be a great middle ground risk vs efficacy. -
I'm trying to find some water flavoring powder/liquid whatever that uses sucralose or stevia. So far the only sugar free stuff I've found have been in super expensive little squirt bottles or individual serving packets. I want something that is good and comes in bulk so I can make gallons of the stuff at a time. Anyone know of anything?

Nice work! Your story is impossible to read though, for me at least. Paragraphs are your friends! -
what is the big hype with greek yogurt?

Anyone tried blending some greek yogurt with some flavored protein powder? -
Wow, nice work! Mind sharing what your eating and exercise habits have been like? Also, starting weight?

Bullies.. Even as an adult... Cant wait to redeem myself
Heartonsleeve replied to kailie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not trying to be a downer, it's just these individuals don't sound like they are worth your time or effort thinking about them to begin with. Either way, good luck! -

They sound like callous individuals, I would be amazed if anything you had to say to them would have any effect on them at all. Simply put, don't waste any more of your time thinking about them or plotting to "show them up". They very likely won't give a damn and then you'd just feel silly. Besides that, making "revenge" a factor in your motivation sounds pretty unhealthy long term. -
Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it

Sounds like you'd benefit from speaking to a therapist, especially if your family are unsupportive jerks. -
You could be over training, your body does actually need some down time to recuperate. Make sure you are properly hydrated and get plenty of sleep. What my personal trainer tells me at least!

I'm wishing I did the gastric bypass

From what I've been told and I have read, none of the WLS are magic. If you really want to be successful, you need to change your approach and the way you think about food. No offense, but look at what you wrote. You are upset that you lost FIFTY pounds in three months. Can you imagine being capable of doing that pre-op? I certainly can not, and I'd be thrilled to have done so. As for gaining it back, you would regain all the weight after any of the procedures if you decide to eat all the wrong things. -
Well attended a seminar yesterday and today went to my pcp for a referral to get the ball rolling. Thing is, she seemed hell bent on scaring me off of the idea of WLS. She lectured me for 5 min on how it is horrible and how two of her other patients have had terrible side effects and brain damage and how it has ruined their lives. Then she went on to say all I needed to do was eat a bunch of salads and that she was 100% without a doubt correct and that I should just do it without surgery. I'm not really sure what to think, but I still requested the referral so I can speak to the doc myself. She also said that the surgeons view WLS as a means to profit and as soon as the deal is done that they ignore you and don't want to deal with you if you have complications. Anyone else have a PCP with a similar attitude?
-
I thought about it for a bit and I agree, her attitude and approach really made me lose confidence in her ability to objectively give me advice. Called my insurer and will have a new PCP on July 1st.

How long did it take to get the pre op stuff done?
Heartonsleeve posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long did it take you folks before you got a date set? Not counting arbitrary delays like 3 years or 6 month diets. Start to finish including first meeting surgeon to finishing screening tests. Just trying to see what the typical amount of time it takes. -

Thanks for all the responses! My insurer says I qualify and am 100% covered. Seminar with their approved doc tomorrow, hope to get it all wrapped up by July, from the responses so far it sounds feasible.
