Tinkerbell, that must be frustrating to have been rescheduled. They moved my time at the hospital so many times that when I got there, I was apparently late! Hang in there! Thanks to all for the heads' up on the Advil. I'm calling the office as soon as they open this morning. The hospital nurse had told me he wanted me to alternate between tylenol and advil.....now hoping that isn't wrong! I have tape over all my incisions, and they told me I could shower whenever I'm ready (which will be today...feeling icky!). I can sleep on my right side, but I have to say, not being able to sleep on my tummy stinks. I'm a total tummy sleeper.

Not sure what was up with the pain meds thing. Even when I asked for something in the hospital a little stronger than what they were giving, the doc said tylenol. geeezzzzz..... Mango, I love the vasectomy comment! Too funny I'm quite sore this evening and have tried Tylenol and Advil, both have only given very minor relief. I had no idea he was going to be tight with the pain meds. This part sucks....:cry I had some chicken broth this eveing, and I think I ate too fast. going to really have to work on slowing down. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day! Good luck to all those on deck!!

Hi all! I got home from the hospital this afternoon. Nice to be somewhere quiet! I'm doing ok. I ended up with some stuff in my lungs, and I'm having a hard time coughing (quite painful!). Tummy is very sore, though i think some of that is gas pain. right now, i really can't tell. Doc didn't give me anything for pain at home - told me to take tylenol or advil. he was stingy with pain meds in the hospital too. I'm thinking someday he needs to try this, just so he knows how it feels! hope everyone is doing well. I'm off to take some advil and lay down for a bit. Later! =)

Hey everyone! I'm about to head off to bed, but wanted to stop in and say thanks so much for all the well wishes! You guys are really great!!! I had my pre-op appointment today, so gave blood to the vampires at the hospital one last time. I'm a little freaked because my doc got called to emergency surgery today, so he wasn't there for my appointment. Hoping to get to talk with him in the morning before the surgery....just to calm the nerves a little. On the upside, I'm already down 8 pounds and haven't even started yet...woohoo!!! Only 80 more to go.... In response to the question about telling people - I'm curious how others are handling this too. I only told my boss, so she would understand why I was out and in case I need to be out longer than expected. Otherwise, I didn't even tell my assistant, and thankfully, she didn't question the lovely wristband the hospital put on me! I've just told her that I'll be out a couple days, then working from home. to explain the change in eating habits, I was just planning to tell people that I'm seeing a nutritionist (true) and on a new diet (true). Other than my boss and parents, I haven't told anyone. Off to bed. Hoping to get some sleep, as I doubt I'll get any in the hospital! =)

Dieka - I live in San Jose, a couple miles from the doc's office. Where do you live? Princess - I'm scheduled for July 10th too! woohoo!!! I got a call from my doc's office today and looks like I go in at 8:30 in the morning! I'm relieved about that - no waiting. I had my daughter by scheduled c-section and it wasn't until noon. the waiting was torture! Is it weird that I'm thinking about all the foods I won't be able to eat anymore and trying to figure out which ones I want to eat before Monday (when I have to switch to liquid diet)? I am totally food obsessed right now and I feel soooo guilty about that. Feels counterproductive.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'm trying to keep up with the board, but wow - you are an active group! I work full-time and am a single mom, so I tend to fall behind in pretty much everything. I apologize in advance! It's amazing to me to read the stories of what some people have had to go through just to get approved for banding. I feel fortunate that I had a relatively easy time. My BMI was slightly under 40, but I guess close enough that I didn't have to jump through too many hoops. Had to do blood tests, have 1 appointment with a dietician, and then do a psych eval. I don't have any health issues other than being overweight, so wasn't sure i would get approved. I had my insurance approval within a few weeks of my first visit to the doc. I think that's why I'm freaking out a little. Even though I've been looking into this for about 5 years, it all seems to be moving very quickly now. Curious to know from those who have already had the surgery, how has recovery been? I'm having surgery Tuesday and have been told that I can expect to be back to work Monday (desk job). I'm wondering about the days in between whether or not I'll be able to drive my kids to camp etc. Sorry such a long post. Thanks!
