sheilarae replied to muneca1029's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I really want to do is chug down a glass of cool water. I miss being able to do that! And of all the food there is, I miss my daily diet dr pepper the most!! -

I haven't had any hair falling out...6 1/2 weeks out. I'm going to try making sf pudding with my EAS protein drinks. I like the idea of mixing the chioc with skill. Thanks for that idea... It's alo more fluids. -

Hours away, but why
sheilarae replied to muneca1029's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same. I never had trouble losing weight but I could never keep it off. I decided I needed the surgery if I was going to be healthy the next 20 or so years of my life. I'm 62. To be honest, I didn't want to live like this Amy more..,I'd rather be dead. Was sleeved 6-24, have lost 25 including the pre-op diet. I don't think it coming off vet fast. 20 came off before so only 5 lbs in 6 weeks. Yuk! Yesterday and today every time I ate or drank I had a terrible pain...like I needed to burp but couldn't. What's that mean? -
So this fAt gIrL walks into the drug store......

Many people made faces when I told them about the surgery. 6-24 was the date. I am 4' 11" and weighed 200. I don't know where I packed it. Now I weigh 175 and people tell me I should stop loosing!! What's the deal?? -
Try EAS advantage carb control. I love the chic and vanilla. If you don't like it Walmart will take it back. Also like Nectar by Syntax. The Roadside Lemonade and Fuzzy Navel. I mice a flavor packet with it. Like Crystal Light or Hawaiian Punch.

Tanya2244, have you tried drinking diet fruit juice? Welches has a good peach juice and I also like cranberry lemonade. Baby food might stay down easier because its smooth ( other foods are bumpy and may irritate your stomach) and its nutritious. I had the beef in gravy and the chicken in gravy. Also carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, and peas. At first I could only eat 1/2of each jar. Then I could one jar meat and one jar veg. Hang in there! -

I had Dr Fox in Dallas do my surgery. He has a great after program. He is very caring and sits quietly while I ask my questions. -

I basically stick to foods I know I can eat. That does give me a very big choice. I wondered too about if it was a good idea during the first month. . I'm 6 weeks out now. I decided to think of the positive reasons I did it. I can't go back so pushing forward with thoughts of being in less pain and being healthy. I hope you can focus on the positive. At the end of the day find 5 blessings you've had that day and write them down. Do this everyday and you can read it when you are second guessing yourself. You deserve to be healthy !! -

Meemee, good luck to you. I got all my ducks in a row too. Even got baby food for first "solid". It made things a lot easier! Let us know how it goes. -

My body had been changing fast too. I'm worried that I won't be able to get all the loose skin into a blouse sleeve. My arms are really gross. Out one day and a little kid said "Look mommy. That lady had Popeye arms! -

EAS Advantage can be found at Target and Walmart. I by the premix chocolate and vanilla and love the taste. It's about $1.25 a can. Be sure to get "carb control". There's about 100 calories and 17 gm protein. I also use crystal light to help get more water in. I love the " peach tea". Also Hawaiian Punch has flavor packets in many flavors. I sometimes add one to my Nectar by Syntax protein drinks to make the flavor stronger. Since I can't have my diet dr pepper any more I started drinking diet Snapple peach tea. Yum! Hope this helps! -
I can't seem to get used to NOT drinking with my meals!
sheilarae replied to Im14fun's topic in Food and Nutrition
My dr told me a couple tiny sips with meals is ok. I don't tho...doesn't seem to bother but I am thirsty all the time. Before surgery I drank 12 cups of water a day. No I'm not diabetic just thirsty. -

Try sugar free puddings and jello and pop cycles. I also did well with diet or light apple juice and cranberry lemonade. Welches makes a good diet peach juice. My first solids were baby food. Went down easy and stayed down. -
Don't I know it! But I'm not throwing them away. Ill go back to Centrum Silver chewables and continue D3 and B that dissolve. They're better for you. I take a lot of other Meds in the am. I take two sets of vitamins. Am and pm

What foods do you no longer like?
sheilarae replied to anglicanchic85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having trouble with ground beef. It hurts my stomach after I eat it. Once I threw up. Now I really don't want any more. I like grilled chicken and am getting protein from other things...chick peas, black bean soup, lentils. I eat about 15 bites and then I'm not hungry any more. Actually I'm rarely hungry. -
Look in the vitamin section at Walgreens. I use gummy multiple, gummy D3, dissolvable B (think its Vitamelts) and a sugar free calcium.

Sleeved on June 24.

June 24th. Feeling great. Down 25 lbs!! -
I'm 62. I was going to wait until 65 so Medicare would pay for it...my ins wouldn't. My dr said I'd have diabetics by then. I've had many surgeries...run over by a dump truck, head-on collision , rear ended by a semi, 3 C-sections, a virus killing my platelets , a brain hemorrhage , one hip replacement, injections in my neck and back. Needless to say I paid for the surgery myself...6 weeks out...and did it for my health...I have too many scars to do it for looks. I just wanted to be healthier. Im 4'11" My highest weight was 265. I weighed 200 before the surgery and have lost 35 lbs. there comes a point in ones life where you gotta do what you gotta do! I stayed in the hospital 2 nights, stayed at a friends house 1night. And then drove 90 miles home. Don't let fear steal your dream.

sheilarae replied to GeorgiaGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, walk, walk, walk. I walked all over my house. My dog thought I was nuts! Just thought...you could freeze protein drinks in ice trays and suck on those.
