Autoimmune Issues and VSG?
sheilarae replied to Tjohnson322's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope it helps. Pain is such a nasty thing to have to deal with. People who are not on pain don't understand. I've been in pain every day since I was 11 (1962 ). I was run over by a dump truck. Since then I've been in a head-on collision and rear ended by a semi. You could say my body is a reck. I take three different pain MEDS and hope the weight loss will help get me off some of those. I think that's why I get so frustrated when it comes off so slow!! I like want it gone by morning!! -
Autoimmune Issues and VSG?
sheilarae replied to Tjohnson322's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 8 weeks out. I have fibromyalia, ostioarthritis , sleep apnea, high blood pressure... I don't take the Mobic because of possibly damage to my tummy and seem to be doing well, however , i havent started teaching my 4 year olds yet! I have been able to drop one of my blood pressure MEDS because it was too low. I'm hoping to get rid of the cpap and take less cymbolta for the fibro. It's always a balancing act. -

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm 8 weeks out and have lost 7 pounds. It is frustrating, but I'm trying to constantly remember that I've gone down 2 sizes and have so much energy. My new Spring clothes are baggy but I'm wearing them anyway. That will remind me too! -

Scream or cry or both but don't give up. It will come. -
I've been thinking about it for the last couple weeks. I'm asking my dr to send a note of explanation. I teach Head Start and I'm suppose to eat what the kids eat. I have been following my school s schedule the past week. Ill start the day off with 17 gms Protein drink and use it to take my MEDS. Then ill make Breakfast and let it cool while i get dressed. ill mix up another Protein Drink (23 gm) to sip on at breakfast at school and in between activities...keeping the bottle on my desk. The kids eat lunch early so I will take the rest of that pd with me. While they nap I can eat my own lunch. Then ill make another pd (23 gm) and sip on it during their snack time. And then they go home and I can do whatever I need to do. I'm hoping this works.

Cheri, thank you for your ranting! It is so true! I have to keep reminding myself that this is a lifetime choice and not be in such a hurry to lose the weight. Although I've only lost 27 total, (have about 50 more to go) I've gone down 2sizes in clothes. My new school clothes I bought last Spring are very baggy and I'm wearing them this Fall anyway. My badge of courage ! Thank you for your encouraging words. I've read other posts from you and you are my hero!! -

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm 8 weeks out and am a teacher. I've had no problem getting the Protein and Water in. But tomorrow I go back to work. The 26th the kids come back. But I can't be constantly drinking and teach 4 year olds!

I started at 200...BMI was 40.4. Now I'm 173...BMI is 34.9 I lost 20 lbs the month before my surgery. My goal BMI is 25. That puts my weight at 125. I'm 4'11" and I'm 62 years old. -
I meant green tea.

Shame on me too. I couldn't stand the smell or taste of coffee at first. I'm on my second brand and still don't like it. I manage to get down 1/2 cup but will have to try ...maybe free tea!?!

When I smell something yumalicious I think to myself, and sometimes out loud, "Man, that candle really smells good!" -
You can also try to freeze the protein drinks in ice cube trays or use vanilla or choc protein to mix with sf pudding. Greek yogurt has lots of protein as does cottage cheese. Try eating them with sf jello. I also used cran-lemonade and diet fruit juices to mix my protein in. Hang in.

I'm sorry you are having trouble with the protein. That's probably why you feel so bad! You need the protein!! Have you tried different kinds...soy based, whey based, fruit flavored, chocolate, vanilla...you may want to try to water it down for a while so the flavor isn't so strong. Try to find some samples so you have more variety. And please talk to your dr. He may have other ideas for you. Good luck and never give up!

I'll keep a smile on my face!! My dr told me to eat 600-800 cal a day. I rarely get to 800 I'm sending a food diary to my dr to see if I need to eat more. That will be hard because I'm never hungry and can't eat more than about 15 bites of food each meal.
