Being banded 29th Jan and I might cancel :(
milton5a replied to milton5a's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for all your positive replys they have made me so much happier it's unbelievable! I am going to have some real thinking time now on my own and come to a descision. I want to be slim and healthy so much and nothing else works!! This site is brilliant and it is so helpful when you get to speak to normal people who have or are considering having the band fitted. Peace & Love Lauren x -
Size 6!!! Well done. Why don't you go shopping and really max out on the credit card (not that I am supporting getting into debt!) but really treat yourself to some sexy flattering size 6 clothes. You have won the fat fight

Hi Everyone, I have my operation booked for the end of January 08. I am in the UK and I am having it done privately. Yesterday I was reading a book and it mentioned that Dr. Hans Finsterer did abdominal surgery using Local Anaesthesia only. I have been very nervous about going under General as it just really freaks me out. Does anyone know any doctors that perform the band surgery under Local anesthetic only? I think it is a brilliant idea as it cuts out all the blood clot possibilities etc.. Thanks Lauren

Hi, thought I would start this thread off because well I am finding it really really hard to stick to the pre-opp weight loss phase diet. My consultant wants me to loose weight before the operation to show commitment to the band. This is not the crash ciet to shrink fat around the liver, my consultant just wants me to lose weight so he can be sure that I am ok for the band??? I am borderline bmi of 40 so it is not like I am dangeoursly big for WLS so I need to diet, anyway enough of the moaning I've figured that if I want the band done - which I do! Then I will need to loose a few pounds. LOL I've gained 5 since the 1st consultation. :help: I can't diet at all, otherwise I would not be considering the band ... but I've got 3 weeks 1 day exactly to lose the 5 pounds I've gained and 2-3 pounds extra to show I can loose weight. 8 pounds in three weeks OMG!! Ok so I've started on Slim Fast, the smell makes me feel sick but I drink it with a straw so I do have some distance between the icky smell and my nose! Fingers crossed I can stick through it for the next three weeks because I just couldn't stand the consultant sending me away Has anyone else out there had any similar experiences? I'm from the UK and I'm getting mine done private - not a chance would they consider me on the NHS Anyway I hope that if anyone out there is feeling stressed or miserable because they have got to go through the pain of dieting to show commitment, I'm with you and I hope you can share you experiences and feelings here Peace & Love Lol x p.s my spelling is rubbish another thing God blessed me with LOL..... 2nd consultation - 3rd September 07 Gained 5 pounds since 1st consultation in June 07 Weight at the moment - 14 stone 12 pounds Traget weight - 9 stone

Hi, I have my second consultation on the 3rd September but the consultant wants me to loose weight beforehand. The thing is I can't loose weight, if I could I wouldn't be considering wls!!! I am only just borderline 40 bmi so he can't want me to loose weight because I am dangeously big for the operation, I just don't understand and it is worrying me. I don't want him to turn me away from the opp because I have lost no weight, I just know in myself that I get too hungry on a diet and I can't diet full stop. Please can anyone give me any advice please? Have any of you had to loose weight before th opp? Lol xx

Hi Everyone, I know this sounds really stupid but the only thing I am worried about during the opp is getting a blood clot. Do they give you blood thinners and does anyone know if this is a usual thing to get after this surgery. :help: Thanks Lol X

Hi Fairydust, I know how you feel!!! I have my consultation on the 3rd September and I am very nervous. When you are in front of the doctor all the important questions seem to clear from your brain LOL. I am just going to keep cool and not try to worry about asking stupid questions, I am paying enough for it so I might as well Ah yea and bumping into old friends who are skinny, just wait until you've lost it and they see you again! Lol x

Loosing weight before the Operation?:(
milton5a replied to milton5a's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, thanks for your info and advice. I am going to try and 'be good' from tomorrow LOL. Dilondon how do you feel after the surgery? Did you get much pain? Are you hungry at all? I'm going for my surgery in Northampton 3 shires hospital has anyone else had theirs dones there? Lol x -
Hi Everyone, I have been reading this site for a while now and it is brilliant. The information and support that everyone gives eachother is amazing I am 21 from Northampton and I have struggled with my weight since I was about 9. I have tried so many diets, high fibre, low calorie, high protien, lots of exercise combined with hardly any food :cry in the end I just go back to eating junk and lots of it. I have basically put my life on hold until I lose the weight which is very annoying as I love going out but my self confidence has just gone too low. Anyway to cut a long boring story short I have decided to go for surgery :clap2: I am booked in for my consultation on the 18th June with Mr Guy Finch at three shires hospital in Northampton. I am quite nervous but very excited at the same time as I do see this as a long term weight loss tool. Anyway I would be most greatful if anyone could 'remind' me of any questions I should be asking the consultant or any important stuff I need to know before hand. Oh by the way I'm 5ft and I weight 14 1'2 stone and I want to get down to 9 stone, I hope so anyway!! Thanks L
