Favorite Unflavored Protein Powder?
troopersma posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wanting to order some unflavored protein powder...not sure which will dissolve the best and have the least flavor/odor. Any suggestions? Thanks! -

I tried several ready to drinks (Oh Yeah, Premier, and EAS Advantage). I didn't end up REALLY liking any. I disliked the EAS one the most...the others were tolerable. I tried the ISOPURE (clear liquid). It was strong by itself but diluted with water it was also drinkable. Then I bought samples of a couple different companies (Syntrax, Matrix, Unjury, etc). I've been working my way through those during my preop liquid phase. So far my absolute favorite is Syntrax Strawberry Mousse. Tastes just like strawberry milk to me when mixed with milk. I thought I'd like the Unjury chicken broth but didn't. I had an Unjury chocolate one today and it was probably my favorite chocolate so far.

Any July16th out there
troopersma replied to frosty1224's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 16th as well. Going to Tijuana alone. Went to the bank to get cashiers check for surgeon...and asked them if I chicken out on surgery do they deposit money back in my account? Although after 2 weeks of preop diet i dont want to chicken out and later have to redo the preop diet. Guess i will stay the course. -
Inquiring minds want to know.

I am headed to Tijuana on Tuesday. I booked directly with Dr Kelly and someone from his office will be picking Us up at the airport. So, do you tip the driver? Anyone else and how much? for example housecleaning staff, anyone that helps with bags, etc. I hate tipping...never know how much for anything other than eating out. :-)

Any July 16th sleevers?
troopersma replied to genifer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having mine July 16 as well. Cant believe it is almost here. -
Since I am traveling alone I though I might bring my laptop. Would this be an issue at the border? And would it be safe with my other belongings while I am having surgery? I will go straight to hospital (Nova) so I am not sire how my belongings would be handled?

I have a blog if anyone is interested. Http://www.meltableme.blogspot.com Getting nervous and excited. 5 days before I start preop diet.

Passport madness!
troopersma replied to thetattooedlady's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
What I was told when I got my passport is that they cant keep you from reentering if you're a citizen...but that it can cause a delay of up to 24 hours if you dont. She said usually the wait is minimal...but no guarantees. -

Newbie here with questions about $$$

Going to Dr Kelly. 5200 plus 1000 (500 hernia and 500 high bmi). Have PCOS as well. Took me 7 years and lots of infertility treatments to get pregnant. This surgery is way cheaper than most of the infertility stuff and it will be dual pirpose...weight loss and increase fertility. I say go for it. -

George, thanks for the details. I originally talked with MBC because i went to that website and thought it was directly related to him. I filled out the historu and returned it. Was told he had reviewed it and i was approved and given a rate. Then someone posted his offi,e phone. Called directly to book. Lora told me they had never seen my application. Also saved me some $$$ by booking directly. I am scheduled for 16th at Nova. Since then MBC has emailed me and offered a better price with other surgeons but I am sticking with Kelly. -
Isnt the Caltrate a carbonate insyead of citrate form? I thought we needed citrate...or is that only RNYers? Also, my doc has me stopping all meds including Vitamins 2 weeks prior to surgery. is this standard?
