Low carb diets often mean low potassium and magnesium. I supplement them. It has helped with my awakening in the middle of the night and leg cramping.

Can't stay asleep anymore...
seleneu replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had this issue, and have done a lot of reading on it, and it seems that electrolytes being off balance (due to low carb eating) can do this. I increased my magnesium, sodium, and potassium and am working on find the right balance. When I had my labs done, even with supplements, my #s were right near the lower edge. It's driving me crazy and pretty sure it's increasing my hunger during the day. -
I eat sushi, I just order rolls without the rice. I don't notice the difference.

What do you recommend for those of us doing the no shampoo thing? I use baking soda once in a great while for cleaning, and vinegar daily or every other day for conditioning. -
Protein drinks without fake sweeteners?

About Time is my favorite - GNC often has a sale where you can get each one for about $21. -
Yes, I do! I bought the sample packs of syntrax and liked most plain. My favorites are the twisted cherry, strawberry kiwi, and the cappuccino. On their web site it says: "What's more? Well, we did something totally amazing by engineering Nectar™ to be so delicious that you can eat it right out of the container. Imagine putting a protein powder in your mouth and it tasting like candy." and "Yes! Nectar™ can be eaten like candy right out of the container." It's yummy! I hate too sweet powders so mostly use about time (milder flavor), although I find that the further out I am, the more I like the sweeter ones. I also put greek yogurt in all my protein shakes to cut some of the sweetness (usually 4oz almond milk, 2oz greek yogurt, 4oz water, and 1 scoop protein powder).

I love this, thank you. I had never heard this before, but it makes so much sense. I've been working on muscles, and although my weight loss is slow (or I should say slower?), I'm building muscles (3-4 yoga classes a week and 2 strength based - HIIT, cadio included type - classes), and going down in sizes and inches. What you're saying makes sense, and makes me feel good because I want the muscles!

I bought the Nectar Capp after hearing all the positive reviews. I thought it was disgusting at first. However, after reading on the website that the nectars were designed to be able to eat them plain, it's my favorite thing to have at night. I have a scoop, eat it with a spoon, and it's my nightly dessert. The other ones are great this way too. It helped me a lot with the too sweet powders. I couldn't stomach them in liquid, but plain they are great.

It's actually helping me with that - I'm 4 weeks out and still on purees and am so sick of drinking at night from all the Water so it's nice to have my evening Protein plain. I actually almost never feel full (or hungry actually) because I'm still mostly liquid.

I got the sample pack and thought the fruit ones were disgusting. However, I read on their website that they formulated them to be eaten plain, like a pixie stick, and I'm LOVING them like this!

My doctor told me it reduces a 60% chance of getting gallstones to a 4% chance (or something like that).
