Oooh, thanks! I'll definitely have to try that! I've never been to Boca Raton (or south/eastern Florida) so we're thinking about going down a few days early and having some fun on the beach before the surgery.
Definitely good to hear about the puree/liquid thing... I was NOT looking forward to that. I'll certainly contact you with any questions and I'll let you know how it goes! I'm hoping to go down near the end of next month. It's so exciting!

Well got on the scale today and i finely broke the 270 lb mark it was just a .8lb loss but I will take it! I been stuck at 270+ for a month (forever for me) now, hopefully it will start coming off more so I can hit my goal 29.4lbs more to lose. I been walking long speed walks from 3-4 miles 4 x a week weather permitting, cold doesn't bother me but iced up roads and sidewalks does, but i still get out and walk but at a slower pace and not as far but a longer time. The big part is keeping standing up, you seem to work your core more trying to keep your balance . Every one of you are a inspiration to me and Thankyou for your post.

Beach Lover got a reaction from CoffeeGrinDR in Sooo hungry!
As JeanZ said if you are already taking an acid reducer you may need to switch brands or increase the dosage. Some people have to try several different brands to find on that works for them. Acid can seriously feel like major hunger. If you are getting all your liquids I would check into this. Call your surgeon if you need to. Most people do not have true hunger feelings this early on. Best wishes to you!!

I'm truthfully amazed, thankful to my surgeon and humbled by this experience. Back in April of 2013 I started at 412lbs. Had surgery June 24th. Now here we r almost 200 lbs lighter in 9 months. 52 inch waist to 33. 4xl t shirt to large. Just amazing. I used to love riding motorcycles so I went out and bought a new one for when the weather gets better. I go to the gym 6 days per week and I just always remember my surgeons words. "I've given u the tool. Now take advantage of it!!" I won't forget that advise from Dr Jiser in Chelmsford MA. Thank u

Beach Lover reacted to FishingNurse in Vets struggling with 5:2.. there may be an alternative !
The intermittent fasting seems to be the ticket for vets in a rut like myself. I gained 7-8 pounds back from my all time low over the last year. (I am 2.5 years out)
Unfortunately I am not able to only consume 500 calories or less per day. I wish I had the will power to do it!!!!
BUT I started a similar idea at the first of the year and I am down 3.5lbs!!!
It’s called the 8 hour diet. It’s simple. You eat 8 hours of the day only, the other 16 you fast. (you drink Water or other beverages with no calories.) Basically you can eat whatever in the 8 hours with in moderation, but no need to restrict calories significantly.
So far so good!!! It is surprisingly easy for me to follow. I have also been shooting for high Protein, lowerish carb, (but I am reasonable, I have still been getting my white chocolate iced espresso daily from Caribou coffee!!) and I have been at the gym which also helps.
I haven’t seen the scale move DOWN in more than a year I’d say!
I work 2nd shift as a nurse, so I have slightly different hours to eat then some of you might… but this is what I do:
I eat Breakfast at about 11:30am, and then I can eat a snack around 2 or 3 and have dinner at 7-7:30 then I don’t eat again until 11:30am the next day. I thought it would be hard but it’s not! Also the book I read regarding the plan does say even if you follow this 4-5 days a week you will still see results. (google 8 hour diet for more info)
This plan seems to give your body a chance to use stored fat for energy. I feel great! Also the plan recommends a brief 8 min “workout” just before you break the fast in the morning. (I will lift my 5 pound dumb bells and push-ups and go up and down the stairs a few times.
I am very optimistic, I know I have only been following the plan for 10 days but I am excited to be on the loser’s bench again. I will keep everyone posted, I can’t wait to weigh myself tomorrow!!

I would suggest that you look into some of the threads on the sleeve side for band to sleeve revision. This might help you to make a decision. You have to do what is right for you and talking to some others who have been through this might help you. Best of luck with your decision.

Beach Lover reacted to Suko67 in Hit my 9 month mark--almost to goal weight before/after photos
    Hello All:
It's been a few months since I've been on this forums, but all those who had gone through the VSG before me and gave me such wonderful advise and encouragement--I wanted to say THANK YOU!
I am at my 9 month mark post surg, and I have maneuvered through the maze of adopting a whole new relationship with "eating" and healthy lifestyle and I wanted to put myself out there for anyone who would like some encouragement or anyone who has questions about the procedure (positive and negative). According to my surgeon I am in the <10% who have experienced some unwanted effects of the procedure--BUT given even the (at times) struggle with those negative effects--I would do this all over again to LIVE this wonderful life I have now.
    I have lost 76lbs, started at 222 and I am now 146.
From BMI of 39.4 to new BMI 25.2
From size 16 to size 6.
I no longer use a CPAP because I no longer have sleep apnea.
My back pain is (mostly) gone.
I can walk up flights of stairs w/o feeling like I was going to pass out!
If anybody out there has had the sleeve or is considering the sleeve--please use me as support!
I am still losing weight (I would like to lose 12 lbs more) and I am toning my body up.
I've attached a picture from my birthday in 2013 right before my surgery and a picture from Thanksgiving of this year (about 6.5 months post sleeve). I will try to get some more recent pictures taken.

for an obese person the right way is to never over eat... for an alcoholic the right way is to never take that first drink... for a drug addict the right way is to never try that first drug... and so on... but since we dont live in a perfect world... the right way is to survive and give other people the encouragement to do the same.... the right way for any one suffering from a disease is to go seek help... Do not let other peoples opinions override your own.... I chose to live... to be healthy.. to be active.. Who's life is it anyway?... its mines and I'm proud of my decision to have WLS... and if other people don't understand.... that's your issue not mine...

I am 7 months post op and still don't have hunger. I wouldn't worry about this I think it is really unusual for this to happen. Talk to your surgeon about acid reducers because acid reflux will mimic hunger and most of us to do an acid reducer. Best of luck with your surgery!

stressful night last night made for bad choices of food tonight... bread is not my friend and i feel like poop!
my house smells like smoke, there is fire extinguisher spray all over my laundry room and a pile of my new clothes out in the snow that were on top of the dryer when the d@*^ thing caught fire
on the plus side my 2 older boys saved the night by catching it early, being quick to get fire extinguishers, and getting us all out of the house. I'm blessed to still have a home and a family and the rest can be replaced.
rant over... hope everyone else had a better day than me.

Beach Lover got a reaction from Sherlock1969 in Self image, anger, & resentment
I have been married to my husband for 32 years and started dating him when I was 14 years old. Now this man has known me for more of my life than not. He has seen every up and down the scale I have ever done. He has always loved me for who I am irregardless of my size. Size has never stopped him from wanting sex and he has always loved me no matter how big I was. With that said after I started losing weight he stepped up his touchy huggy ways! I took this in a positive way from him. His attention was that of a man that was appreciating the new me and happy for the healthy person that I had become. I don't know your relationship and would never advice you on how to handle your man but based onall the threads I have read on this topic and my own experience I would say he is reacting pretty much the same way most of our men have done. You might have other issues to deal with we don't know but this reaction of his isn't uncommon so hang in there!! Mine actually drove me nuts and I say that with exasperation and a smile because I know I do look better and he was affirming it. Good luck to you and your husband!!

Beach Lover got a reaction from 1Day1Life4Now in Any last minute advice?
Congratulations your new life is about to begin! When you go to the hospital wear very loose clothes. You will only be in them a short time and can wear them home. Take a pillow for your stomach when you travel home, GasX strips, toiletries, chapstick, phone, and some spare undergarments. That is all you will need. You will have to stay in the hospital gown because of the IV you can use a 2nd hospital gown for a house coat and they give you nonskid socks to walk around in. I was so loopy from the pain meds they give you that using my computer was a joke. I can't even remember watching the tv even though I know it was on. Ask your preop nurse for a private room if you can get one this is when they assign you your room. When you are post op ask your floor nurse for the flavored sponges they are fantastic for rehydrating your mouth and lips.........a lifesaver to me! The liquid diet sucks but honestly I drank diet soda all day with other things because I knew I was saying goodbye to it. I ate normal Soups but just ate the broth out of them and rahman broth is pretty good even though is has a lot of sodium in it. I really didn't care I was looking for some flavor. Your going to do great!! Keep us posted!
One more thing...........Don't trust a fart!!!

You can eat whatever you want. The thing is can you tolerate the honey and there is only 1 way to find out. My guess is you should be fine as long as it is only a little amount. My doctor warned me to try questionable things at home and not in a restaurant. Good luck!

My heart goes out to you! You are strong, have an opinion and smart. I have never been in this type of situation but in reading all of this if you are going to stay for now then I would suggest you call that number that someone listed and get some advice or education on what you are dealing with. It seems that he is keeping you not living with you and now he is going to cut off your transportation. Your losing weight has upset the apple cart and you may not know all of his reactions. Your confidence is going to increase and so is his behavior in the effort to keep you emotionally contained. Best of wishes to you. Guys weigh in on this she could use your opinions!!

I think we all eat more prior to surgery especially at our favorite restaurants and favorite foods because we are saying goodbye to them. You might be having some head games going on because you know your going to be making a major change in your life. A word of caution however, I have seen people scheduled for their surgery only to have it postponed because they gained weight and their surgeon didn't like it. Ask yourself are you really hungry and what is the motivating factor behind wanting more food. If you are genuinely hungry then you are.......find something low in carbs and begin training yourself to eat foods that will fit into your new diet once the surgery is done.
