Self Pay St. Louis
Beach Lover replied to Tomato Junkie Sara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am originally from St.Louis and live in Florida now. Wash U has always been a fantastic place to go for anything. They have a stellar reputation. I was a self pay also I had to go to Boca Raton and I paid $10,500 and this was all inclusive. Thought I would give you a starting point for comparison. Good luck to you!! -
I tolerated all of those. Good luck!

Panicing About Failure...
Beach Lover replied to Mindful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During your first year that is the time to change your routines around and make your life proactive to weight loss and maintaining it for life. It is a tool to help you get the weight off and keep it off. You are the master behind the tool and it will only be as effective as the master wants it to be. I believe you have to purposely do things counterproductive that will cause weight gain. Such as drinking when eating to push the food through your sleeve so you can eat more or eat carbs etc until your full wait a little bit and then eat some more. If you are careful and eat accordingly you should be fine. Again the modifications that you make in your first year are going to make the difference. Hang in there! -
Motiviation needed :/
Beach Lover replied to Aaronmadeit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go back to your liquid diet for at least a week but eat a lean piece of meat with some steamed vegetables or a salad with it for dinner. Nothing else. You probably need to to get away from the carbs and how they draw you in to eat more. I think this will help you to end the cravings for those bad boys! When you can't eat the carbs and you have cleared yourself of them then the other foods start looking really good and you switch over. We all have our demons and they come out to taunt all of us at some point or another. The good part is you recognized and admitted to yourself what is happening. You have the strength to do this!! Change up your exercise program and find some new foods this can help a lot. Good luck to you and keep us posted!!! -
Great job!

Knowing What You Know Now, You would/not have...
Beach Lover commented on morninflower's blog entry in morninflower's Blog
I would do it all over again! I know I could not have done this without the surgery. My clothes are fitting so much better and I feel better about myself. Get the Gas X you will want it. Make sure you have plenty of protein drinks in stock and get a baby spoon to help remind you to ear small bites and go slowly. Keep us posted!! -
7month update with pics

You look fantastic and so do your kids!! This gives me encouragement to keep up the fight! -
Do you have a snow cone machine? If not, go to your local 7-11 and get a SF Slurpee. This might be a treat for yourself several time a week. You have to look around to find the gas stations that have the SF Slurpee's but they are there. Good luck to you!!

To tell or not to tell that is the question.......................
Beach Lover posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work for the local high school in my town and the day after school let out for the summer I had my surgery. I didn't tell a sole at school about it. I didn't want inquiring minds asking questions or passing judgement. I am now 4 weeks post op and down 25 pounds. I am hoping for at least another 10 pounds before I go back Aug. 19. The problem is what do I say when they notice the weight loss? I really just want to keep it to myself so do you think I can get away with saying it is exercise and proper eating? -
Pain in my side
Beach Lover replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is my same pain and it is level to my belly button.. I think it might be a pulled muscle but definitely not a hernia. I will call my doctor tomorrow just to double check it. I don't think it is anything but I was hoping someone on here had this and knew what it was. Feel better! -
You are honestly scared just like the rest of us before surgery. I questioned myself and my new life a lot before surgery. If you aren't then you didn't take this seriously. Hang in there, I think wls will be good for you and your back. I may have hanging skin when this is done but I will live longer for my family and enjoy a healthy productive life. Someday I can get that skin fixed! It would be nice if your family supported you but that doesn't mean you don't know what is best for you. Every time I tried on my own I would lose and then gain it and some more back. I finally decided this was it and I only regret that I didn't have this option earlier in my life. Your family will come around when they see you losing the weight. Hang in there and keep the faith!!!

Last night was a BAD night :-(
Beach Lover replied to snsgreeneyedgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might try putting a pillow under your stomach if you are laying on your side. This supports your stomach and you don't get the pulling feeling. It was like day 7 for me when I did this and it was pure heaven! Good luck to you!! -
I would love it if you did the video!! Trader Joe's is in Gainsville which is 1-2 hours from my house so I have to make it count when I go. I haven't been yet so this would be terrific. I know that www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com does a lot of her recipes etc. from there and I would like to get those products from that store. :) I wish I could go with you! Would you see if they have the individual mini mozzerella balls there. They look awesome for lunches.

I think you could do that.

Cook your BBQ at home and bring your picnic with you. They can eat their deli sandwiches and you eat what you want. If they give you trouble tell them you didn't want the food to go bad so you cooked it. Bring the cake they will eat it............guaranteed!! This will begin to show them you are serious about your diet and it is important to you.

Sneezing followng eating?
Beach Lover replied to eazye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I too do the same thing! I believe it has something to do with the vagus nerve. I will sneeze, burp or get a runny nose. Never the same thing twice! -
Geez - Like I DIDN"T already know that ?
Beach Lover replied to leslie1958's topic in The Gals' Room
You can get good prices in Mexico and a lot of people have great things to say about it. I didn't have a passport and found Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, Florida who did mine for $10,500. All inclusive..........it covers everything!! -

Whole Foods: what are your must- haves?
Beach Lover replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in Food and Nutrition
I absolutely love Whole Foods and drive 45 minutes to get to it. You can get a lot of the products there in most grocery stores. But I still go there because they have a lot of products that I love to get there. Mainly meat, seafood, spices, some dairy because you can get organic usually in the grocery store. But they have an extensive list of them. They have fantastic soups there as well!
