Weird question?
Beach Lover replied to ashleyandersen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, this has happened to me. One day I can eat more and the next not so much. Mysurgeon said this is normal. The produce thing......Did you start eating all organic when this started? -
Need some tips for gallstones!
Beach Lover replied to Kellyj574's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was going through all my problems before mine was removed they put me on an over the counter called omneprazole. It was a lifesaver!! I had one horrible attack that came on out of no where and I took the omneprazole and before I got to the hospital it was under control. Check with your doctor to make sure it is okay but it works great! -
Scared of every hiccup (and burp)
Beach Lover replied to Jerseyslved's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dark urine means you are dehydrated. Drink some G2 and water! Your protein shakes also count towards your liquids for the day. The burps, hiccups, runny nose, back pain are all signs that you are full. They do not mean you have overeaten but it does mean stop you have reached your limit. This has something to do with your vagus nerve and is completely normal! My surgeon told me that is takes several years of purposeful overeating to even begin to stretch your stomach so don't worry about that. The most important thing you need to do is drink fluids and if the dark urine is your only problem then you are doing okay. It's an easy fix! Good luck and keep us posted!! -
Weight regain & non-supportive family members
Beach Lover replied to Texas Belle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are still so young and yet have accomplished a great amount in your life. Own it!! I wish I had lost 142 pounds earlier in my life. You have rewritten the path you were on. You said your parents think it is okay for them to be fat but you are not allowed and they throw junk food your way. I have one word for that SABOTAGE!!! Perhaps they are jealous of the accomplishments you have done. Parents are people and unfortunately even though you are their child they are being insecure and selfish. People can be weak and lash out with their emotions irregardless of who they are. As stated before the less you are around them the better your mental health will be. Pack your healthy I'm gonna show you mom and dad lunch each day take it to school and do your homework in the library at school. The new semester is about to start and it is time to start looking at some of the other people in your classes as potential new friends! You need to be positive about how people perceive you and start thinking of yourself as not being a fat person. Crawl out of that trap.......you are worth every thing in life!! This is a test in your journey on how you are going to handle the bumps in the road. Find a support group around you those people will definitely be your friend and help you! If you live in Florida let me know! The fact that you put this on here tells me you are a fighter and know how to reach out! Good for you!! All of us will struggle with something in our lives and we have to figure a way to deal with it instead of food. You are so lucky that you are young and have already come so far on this journey to figure out your triggers. The support group will help you. There might even be one on campus. I truly feel for you and wish you all the best. Please love yourself your on the cusp of a fantastic new life when you graduate!! Keep us posted we are here for you!! -

I have the same fear as you and will fight it all the way!! When I finish losing all the weight I will look into some fillers if need be. Good luck to you!! -
Thanks for the heads up. I have tried to be vigilant with the potassium it is vital to life! Even now when I feel dehydrated I go straight to the G2 to try and get this in balance. If that doesn't work I have potassium pills here at home. I am so glad you are feeling better! Kudos to you for following through and going to your doctor!!

I agree with the soup! Most all places have a soup and even if it has chunks in it you should be able to chew it to a puree state. My doctor is a little more progressive with the foods and I was eating mushy foods by week 2. My first one was chili from Steak N shake and I was very careful about chewing it do death and actually I could only eat a tiny amount before I was stuffed but it was so good!! It is scary to go to a restaurant and feel like you can't have a thing and you might feel some sadness while they eat all your old favorites but just looks at each bite they take and realize you are doing something great for yourself. It is a little hard first at the restaurant but it does get easier and when you start eating you get so stuffed you can't even think about eating the other stuff. You will come out of there feeling great about yourself......Promise!!

You are fine! I was able to eat a whole egg when I was at your stage. Don't worry about what other people can and can't do. Your tummy has it's own limitations and just because you can eat a little more than another person means nothing. My tummy can eat more on some days than others. This to is normal. Hang in there you are doing great!!

Tips for Post-op Energy during recovery?
Beach Lover replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very much like you as well! I am 52 and yesterday was week 10 for me. I take the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins as well and the sublingual are the best to use for B12 I also purchase Biotin sublingual from Sam's. I spent many days feeling dizzy or fuzzy headed and I couldn't walk a straight line even when I was dizzy for a long time. If you have these symptoms drink some G2 you are dehydrated and need to replace some electrolytes. It was week 9 before I felt back to my full self and that was after I was going full force to finish a baby shower that was held at my house. I thought I was going to drop while I was doing it but honestly it kick started me back into normalcy. I finally feel back to normal I am down 39 pounds and feel wonderful. I probably would have gotten this energy back sooner if I had eaten more food than I have to be honest. I got all my Protein in but I should have eaten more food than I was. When you get back to foods you will probably see a big difference as well. Before you know it you will be back to your normal self only better!!! -
Shingles can also make you feel exhausted. So the combination of the surgery and the shingles might knock you for a loop. Take it easy!!
-
I have had shingles 3 different times in 3 different places. I didn't get them post op thankfully!! Stress will definitely bring it out. You will find once you are healed when you are stressing out you might get a few stabbing pains in the site where you broke out. I call that my stress meter and when it happens I know I need to take a step back and chill out. I didn't even think about this possibly happening. I count myself lucky! It's good you went to the doctor right away because the medicine if taken early enough is a great help! Best wishes and I hope it clears up quickly!!

Where are these in the store? Are they at Whole Foods or your local grocery store? I like 7.5 carbs!!

I could eat a horse today!
Beach Lover replied to teacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still take an acid reducer each day. If I don't I get stomach pains that feel very much like hunger. I know there are quite a few people who have the same problem. You are lucky if this doesn't bother you. -

Are you taking your acid reducer? If not, this will create a feeling of hunger. -
10 weeks post op.............more head hunger REALLY!
Beach Lover posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 weeks post op tomorrow and have pretty much gotten through the head hunger stage but honestly nothing is sounding good at this point and I think I am going through the stupid head hunger thing again!! I am missing some of my old habits and it is trying to creep into my new life and it can go to hell!! I know to do this long term I have to find some new things to do. I do not do carbs at all and really don't want them but my mind and body and the devil on my shoulders is screaming you can have that. What do you all do when you get to this point in the journey!! I am determined to change my life and I know this is a rough spot that must be conquered!! Do you just endure and wait for it to pass? How long does this go on for before you feel like it has passed. I have not relented to my cravings and this has just got to stop!! -

Thank you! I will give this a try. I honestly wasn't expecting head hunger to show up again. Silly me!! I guess this is something that will come around every so often when we are at our weakest. -

I didn't tell and neither did my friend not even to me.......need advice
Beach Lover posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I went into work today to get my office ready for the first day of school next Monday. When I was done I went shopping to pick up some new clothes that fit. My daughter who teaches at the school called me and said that a friend of mine had the sleeve surgery this summer and is telling everyone. Now I didn't say anything to her nor her to me! LOL We could have been support for each other and we still can. However, I wasn't wanting to tell people. I know it is a matter of time before people ask because I will be losing weight similiar to her and they know she had wls. I really wanted this to be private because I don't like attention on me but I can't omit this when she is openly telling people. Or can I? Advise please! -

Beach Lover replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter I have no worries about but one of my friends might just do it under the guise of helping someone else. I really don't want to let this stuff out for others to discuss and drive me nuts with questions but I would rather just deal with it honestly then have raised eyebrows at me later. It would constantly worry me that someone knows because of a simply innocent statement.......Or was it?????? That is what I would constantly be wondering and the would drive me mad. I have no reason to be ashamed and I am not I just don't like nosey attention. I am sorry that your stepdad outed you when he wasn't supposed to. That is a betrayal of your trust. I think I would have been in tears! Hang in there you will lose all your weight and wear something awesome around them and just smile real big!
