  1. True true so check your insurance and if it possible that is the time to ask.
  2. I wasn't on puree for very long. I did find out after the fact to stay away from baby food because it is high in carbohydrates.
  3. The best thing you can do is stay on this forum and read! My surgery was so easy because of the information I learned here. The hardest thing I had to deal with was the head hunger after surgery. It seemed like food assaulted me at every turn. This does get easier after a few melt downs, tears, and picking fights with people and then realizing it is your head hunger. You will also find that it is very very important to get liquids in. It is so easy to get dehydrated and many have ended up in the ER for fluids. If you find yourself fuzzy headed, dizzy, dark urine, cramping, dry mouth then you are dehydrated and need to get a G2 or a Smart water with electrolytes. When you go to the hospital wear very loose fitting close (you can wear them home). Bring Gas X strips, toiletries, and that's it. You will wear a hospital gown the whole time and when you walk use another one for a house coat. They will give you sock with grips on the bottom. You might bring a favorite pillow. When you are in pre op with your nurse tell her you want a private room. This is when they assign you your room. When you are post op tell the floor nurse you want the flavored sponges to hydrate your lips and mouth. These were a lifesaver to me! During your recovery you might find yourself doing really well for a few days then exhaustion may kick in. This is your body healing and it takes several weeks for this to go away. Get plenty of rest! You will do fantastic!

I'm Pretty! or so they say... :)

There right you are a pretty girl! You deserved all the attention that you received! Go out there and grab life and make it yours!!
  5. The heavy people will be lined up waiting for their injections! It never ceases to amaze me how much research is being done and yet the heavy people are still heavy. It seems like the only thing that has ever helped me is my sleeve and my ability to work it.
  6. I have to stay away from the Protein bars because they are to much like a candy and I am afraid they will trigger the carb monster in me. I know it gets tough to find different foods to eat especially on the go. If you can spend some time combing through some of the links it might help you to pick some different foods that will fulfill you. I bought a bento box and have found a lot of wonderful ideas to fill it for my lunch and Snacks. If you go to www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com or www.yourlighterside.com or www.bariatricfoodies.com you might find some ideas. They have some great ideas on pintrest. Hope this helps!
  7. The 2 week liquid diet is just the preview to your recovery. You need to say no to your weakness. After you have the surgery the head hunger is more intense and this is the time to prep yourself for this. It will eventually get better but it is really tough at first. I just want you to be ready for it and staying with the program is going to do that. I know you are trying but just have to get through this period of time. Once you are back to regular food it will be easier. Good luck to you!

    suffering tremendously..

I hope you are feeling better soon! Unfortunately not everyone is going to have an easy recovery. At least you went to the doctor to rule out any other trouble. Did you already have your gallbladder removed? This can cause shoulder pain but I am inclined to think it is gas. Hang in there it will get better and if it doesn't press your doctor for more answers.

Floridex liquid iron supplamant and the VGS

Are you sure your not dehydrated? It is so easy to get dehydrated when you are first recovering. Fuzzy headed, dizzy, cramps, dry mouth, eyes. All of this means run to the nearest G2 and drink it. Try this and see if it helps. If G2 doesn't taste good to you then drink a Smart water with electrolytes.
  12. It sounds like you are living off the same foods and some junk you shouldn't be eating and not reaching out to new healthier foods. You absolutely have to do this. You can eat so much yogurt because it is a slider food......Are you drinking with it? If so, you know you are doing it so you can fit more in. Are you a picky eater with fruits and veggies? This sounds to me like you are coming up against the change you have to make and not wanting to do it. Your success is going to be based on the willingness to make the changes in your life. You have it in you to do this. It sounds like your mother is trying to help with making the deal and now it's not going the way you wanted it to. Is this your fear in talking with your mom? You can get up tomorrow and change all of this around!! Tell us what you like to eat and maybe we can help give you some new ideas to expand your healthy menu.
  13. Those things are like a carb addiction looking for a place to happen for me!
  14. It is so important to get your fears spoken so in talking with us today you have done a good thing. Please confide everything to your therapist! Keep talking to us! If you feel like you can't discuss your fears with your mother then at least you are getting it out to fellow strugglers! It sounds like you are dealing with some really really bad head hunger. Were you doing okay with just staying on liquids and then when you could eat the need to eat until stuffed kicked in?

    Chinese food

I see no reason why you couldn't try it. But just try one thing at a time especially if it is a new food for you. I love beef and broccoli haven't tried it yet but I think it is about time. There are plenty of dishes that you can eat without the rice and fried foods.

    eating better

You know we are all in the same boat as you are. food was our best friend no matter what emotion we were experiencing. Sometimes if our emotions are more intense we eat more but as a rule we just eat! This requires recognizing why you want food and figuring out what you can do to alleviate the emotions without eating. In addition you just have to ignore that junk food monster lurking to hook you at every turn. Start looking at some go to foods that you can have to avoid those binge moments. Here are a few links that I have found helpful. www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/ http://yourlighterside.com/

    I WISH I'D KNOWN....

You don't need to pack a lot for the hospital! Wear very loose clothes to the hospital you can wear them home. Only bring your toiletries, Gas X, and phone. You will only be able to use a hospital gown because of the IV and they give you socks with grippers on them before surgery. You can use another hospital gown as a robe so your hiney won't be out for everyone to see when you take your walks.
