  1. This is a life long struggle and you will highs and lows with the foods that you are eating. I just finished one of those lows but here's the deal..........YOU CAN'T EAT THE TRIGGER FOODS EVER! I am not yelling that at you but nicely emphasizing that to you. You have to constantly look at new recipes and change up your foods. The mundane day in and day out same old foods will just bring you way down. This is a struggle that I am trying very hard to change. This new life requires really does require a lifestyle change and it does take making yourself do it to succeed. If you have a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods around you I would suggest that you check them out. They have all kinds of foods that fit into our diet and are fun to experiment with. Treat yourself to something special that is just for you and not for the rest of the family. Today for lunch I made a caprese salad, cheese cubes W/olives and a fruit medley of pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries. That sounds like a ton of food but it was actually very small portions but it looked and tasted awesome and no bad carbs! Carbs are addictive and kill your weight loss. If you aren't getting exercise then try taking a walk or a bike ride this will lift your spirits! I am so glad that you reached out for our help that alone means you are trying! Good luck to you and please keep talking with us! Just read your previous post and I truly understand where you are right now. It's tough and it sucks really sucks! You were correct to reach out and I hope what I said you don't take the wrong way. It was heartfelt and sincere. Hang in there!
  2. Have you tried Premier Protein drinks? They have 30g of protein and are really pretty good. A lot of us do use these. You can get them at Sam's or Costco but Sam's is cheaper. This will help you to get your protein easily. Try treating yourself to a good soup broth and just doing a protein drink on the side. Go to a Panera and just eat the broth from some chicken noodle soup it is important to get quality out of the little bit that you can eat. Even if it is tough to get it all in some good flavor is very uplifting right now. Take care and treat yourself!!

Somedays you get the bear, somedays the bear gets you

Awww hang in there! Can I tell you a funny story! I told it to someone earlier but I am going to tell you also. My daughter(she is 22) and I were at the beach last night when this nice looking man starts walking down the beach toward us and he has a towel wrapped around him and holding something in his other hand. He looks up at us (we were standing on a ramp) and waves. My daughter leans over and asks me "Do you think he is naked?" I looked at him and then her and said "I do believe he is!" He walks past us and keeps looking back and I told my daughter hang on the way he keeps looking back I think he is gonna drop that towel. Just about then he did and he was one with nature! We busted out laughing and my daughter was trying to take his picture before he got to far! I guess we all need to be a little more carefree when life is tough......not suggesting that you walk naked on a beach! I bet that scale starts going down real soon and I'll bet you have lost some inches while the scale is being stubborn. As far as your business is concerned you strike me as a very talented and determined individual who will make her future what she wants it to be. Take care you will come out of this.........I have all the confidence!
  6. It's amazing how this life change really opens your eyes to what we had been partaking in and enjoying. Today when I am eating with others I am amazed at how they are able to fit all that in their stomachs and amazed at what I used to eat. I am so thankful for my sleeve today and how it limits any moment of weakness I might have. So far I have been good and I know at this time I have to stay away from country fairs etc. Not because I would eat the food but because of the mental anguish it would probably do to me. I applaud those of you who can handle it but for me a full on yummy (yet gross now)food assault would be pure torture. I think that is growth!
  7. I am only 3 months post op but I definitely remember those early days all to well! I think the worst thing I dealt with was the full realization that my life had changed and the head hunger was a true beast that was unrelenting for a couple of weeks. I cried, craved, bitched, picked fights you name it but finally I it got better. It is a hard time when you are reorganizing your old eating habits and changing your menu in such a drastic fashion. I promise you though it does get better and you begin to look at new foods with an appreciation you never had before. Your weight starts dropping and your clothes fit better. Suddenly life is better and you are trying foods again and you start thinking positive thoughts and realize this is okay and life is good! When you can start back to eating more foods make them healthy and nourishing to your new life. Stay away from those darn carbs! It was hell getting away from them and eating them just draws you back in and slows the weight loss. Hang in there you have already lost 20 pounds and your a lot stronger than you realize! It takes a strong person with a lot of determination to do what you have done!
  8. At first some things tasted a little stronger and 1 or 2 things I no longer like but for the most part my taste has stayed in place. I to however do not crave sweet things any more either. My body does crave the vegetable like crazy more than anything else.
  9. Hang in there!! I promise there is a life after liquids and newly post op! If I were you I would start gathering recipes off of the forum and there are some good ones on fb also. This will help you during this time to get ready for your next stage which is real food! It's tough when you are first sleeved and always tired and struggling to get all your liquids and Proteins in. However this will pass and you will start a whole new life of healthy eating that will transform your body and outlook on life. I promise! Best thing after the restraunt......My daughter (age 22)and I went to the ocean for a little while and a guy walks buy in just a towel, waves at us, my daughter says "do you think he is naked?" my reply "I do believe he is!" He waves and walks past us and keeps looking back to see if we are still there and I looked at my daughter and said I bet he drops that towel. Just about that time the towel drops and he is one with nature!! We busted out laughing and he just kept on walking down the beach! Thought that would make you smile! True story!!
  10. When I first started eating out again I went for the fish and shrimp mainly and honestly still do a lot of the times. Tonight's dinner was the best experience out so far! I went into that restaurant wondering what I was going to find on the menu and they had a special on them and I just said "Jackpot!" At that moment I knew there was life after liquids and post op recovery!

    This is fake right?

Welcome!! I am so glad your doctor suggested the sleeve. Your success is going to be completely up to you and if you want success then your sleeve will help you greatly to achieve it. Keep with us and do a lot of reading and ask questions. We are here for you!
  12. Your very welcome! That is why I posted this because I was sitting there looking at a beautiful dinner 47 pounds lighter than 3 months ago and I knew life was heading in a terrific direction. I wanted to share that with others because I know what that liquid diet and early post op life was like. By the way I didn't drink the ice tea! Took it home in a to go cup. I always do that because I love brewed tea and it is great for later!
  13. I didn't make it. I bought it at Publix they are summer rolls made with rice paper, bib lettuce, carrots, cucumber, avocado, imitation crab meat and shrimp. You should be able to find them at your local grocery store. If you are good with rice paper then I see no reason why you couldn't make them yourself!
  14. It is so good and filling with some great Protein and low carbs. I like it with a lot of wasabi so for me its a sinus experience!!

    Best and worst "compliments"

I totally agree!!! You need to make sure you get a day where you are dressed really nice and looking really good and let her get a good look!! I bet she say's absolutely nothing but just stares and that will say it all!

    Best and worst "compliments"

Worst.... Did you have a boy or a girl!!!!! Best.!..... You are looking fantastic!! Most Awkward.....First I have to say my mother passed away on Thanksgiving last year. I look like her but with the extra weight not as much. Today the youth pastor from her church came into my work and was very startled and said "You really look like your mother!" I asked him did it startle him when he saw me and just point blank said "Yes". I am kinda of worried about it because my father is living with me and has been gone traveling since I had my surgery and I hope it isn't to much for him when he comes home in 3 weeks because I really really look like her now.

Guess what? Shingles and surgery don't mix

60 pounds down is fantastic!! Sorry you had to do it the hard way!! I have had shingles 3 different times and it can really knock you down! Add that to the recovery of your sleeve and you were one exhausted soul!! I am glad to hear you are doing better and you have some great days ahead of you!!

    Whats for dinner?

Riceless sushi.......best way I can describe it. Rice paper, bib lettuce, cucumber, carrot, crabmeat, shrimp. Rolled up and dipped into some low sodium soy sauce and wasabi! Yum Yum!! Bought this at Publix and so so good!

    Bougie size?

Mine was a 36 and I can only do about 4oz on a good day at 3 months post op. Studies show that your size of bougie doesn't make a difference on the weight loss. My doctor doesn't like to do them smaller because he feels they cause more complications. I think whether you have a 32 or 40 it is all up to you on how you handle your diet and exercise to maximize your weight loss.
