Beach Lover replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
If you drink coffee try adding half of one to that with some sugar free creamer. I love the sf hazelnut and sf carmael machiatto with it. This makes is very yummy! -
I have heard of this happening many times after surgery. Hang in there!

Dreams STOMPED by my insurance company
Beach Lover replied to mami2two's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance company did not offer bariatric surgery either. It it's not part of the insurance package unfortunately it won'thappen. I was self pay with a fantastic surgeon in Boca Roton that charges $10,500. If you can finance it I would highly recommend him. I know of several people who flew in and had surgery with him. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. If not, I just spoke with a woman the other day who researched and found an insurance plan that covered it. Maybe you could pick up an insurance plan like this and once the surgery is done and your cleared after surgery you can drop the insurance. Just a thought............Best of luck to you! -

Premier is the absolute best. If you have a Sam's membership they are a little than that as an every day price. I think they are like 18.97 a case of 12. I love them in my Hazelnut coffee with either hazelnut or carmel machiatto sf creamer. Very good! -
It's something I have been pondering. I was watching Extreme Weight Loss and several people had the same body type as myself and about the same amount of loose skin. This made me think about how much I actually weigh verses what the scale says. I too am going to continue on with the weight loss I am 161 one and my goal is 160 but my ultimate goal is 150 just to give me the extra safe zone. So I figure if I get to 150 and win the lottery I can have the skin removed and probably weigh about 10 pounds less. I have to win the lottery first though! Definitely don't want to go any lower than that though I want it to be manageable without the head games!

Thank you! That is what I was thinking.................I wasn't trying to handicap my weight loss never even gave that a thought in that way. I just wanted to have a realistic view of where I actually am. I will probably still go on and lose a few more pounds for safety sake. It is coming off extremely slow now but still going down. I think if I lost much more it might back fire on me and make me look older and fluctuate up and down. This will only result in head games and I am never going there again! Thanks for your input!

Okay, I am 19 months post op. I am one pound away from goal but I have an ultimate goal of 10 pounds lighter. When people have plastic surgery to remove the extra skin it is usually 12 pounds or more removed which in turns makes them lighter. Now here is the question.................Am I actually closer to my ultimate goal of 150 (I weigh 161 without the surgery) should I start maintaining or continue and lose another 10 pounds? Has anyone ever asked themselves this question? I definitely have extra skin all over the place!

Total weight loss question?
Beach Lover replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very happy with how I look at this point. I am just trying to figure out if I should start maintaining or go for the extra 10 pounds. I don't want to be unhealthy and lose to much because I think it can play with your head if you have trouble maintaining a lower weight than you should probably be. I am 54 years old and it's a little harder than if I was younger. I appreciate your answer and you have some very valid points. -
I am 19 months post op and I can truly say I have absolutely no regrets! My life has been made anew and am so grateful for this chance! I waited a long time to do this and knew when I did it I had to be ready. It is a total and complete life long life change that you must stick with. Having said that I have days that are tougher than others but they are few and far apart. If you can say you a truly ready you will never regret it........I feel that their are some who rush into without the full realization of the life change and what it takes to keep it up. Those sadly are the ones who gain their weight back and struggle on a daily basis. However they to can succeed when they accept the change and power through the tough days. I wish you the best!

Telling people at first was very hard and very private. I am now 19 months out and when asked what I did I just tell them the truth. I admit that I have a moments pause gather my courage and tell the truth. I have done a fantastic job and irregardless of how I did it.........I did it! I haven't gotten a negative response yet. Going out for dinner with someone who is paying the bill be it a date or a family member I am just very carefully about what I order and do my best. I was very concerned about this at first but as time goes on you can eat more. Give yourself some time and it will get easier. Just make wise choices and ditch the potato for another veggie side and pace yourself. It will be fine. Best of luck to you!

So I am now about 19 months post op and so close to goal! I have a question that I wonder if others have asked themselves. I figure I have at least 12 pounds of extra skin. Do you ever mentally tell yourself that I weigh this much but actually if I subtracted (for myself) 12 pounds I probably weigh this much? I am trying to decide if I really need to lose more. I weigh 161 with the extra skin and my ultimate goal for myself is 150. So do you think I am actually close to that goal or should I go for another 10 pounds?

The "bariatric Blues"
Beach Lover replied to kymmiej11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! It honestly took me 9 weeks to get my stamina back again. This is a major change to your system and it takes some time to get back into the swing of things. I really don't believe those 2 pounds are going to stay. I would call them a fluctuation that you had the unfortunate timing to weigh in at the doctor's office. You will lose weight..........You don't have a choice at this point! Have you tried Premier Protein shakes? They give you 30g of protein and are only 16o calories and delicious. You can get them at Sam's......best price, costco, and small packs at Walgreens, Kroger and Walmart. Keep taking your Vitamins that is crucial. You are going to be fine once you get past the adjustment.......I promise! -
