How Long Did You Think About It Before You Decided?
Beach Lover replied to mimiski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me some time to make the decision but after I watched several close family members do terrific with it I knew that was what I wanted to do. Once I made my decision it was a matter of 2 months that I was sleeved. I would have done it sooner but I work in a high school and wanted to wait for summer break. I was a self pay as well and paid $10,500 with a surgeon in Boca Raton. I felt very fortunate to find a doctor that would do it for that price. Good luck on your journey!! -
Have Womens' Sizes Changed That Much?
Beach Lover replied to Miss Mac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You answered your own problem. You will definitely need to try things on. Sizes vary from store to store and I have had to try everything on before I bought it Keep to the thrift stores, Walmart etc. while you are losing because you will find that your new clothes will get big on you and then you have to get more. It's a good problem but it can get expensive. I have outlet malls by me and frequent the clearance racks to save. Good luck with your surgery!! -
LOL finally a thread with some humor!! Feels almost like home again!

Okay, I Am Not Seeing A Lot Of Posts Or Has Everyone Stopped Talking To Me!
Beach Lover replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have noticed that the posts of dropped in numbers. I think the look of the forum such as colors etc. are kinda of dragging people down. Hopefully they will get used to all of the new layout and start posting. I am trying to get past the newness and keep on keeping on. -

Severe bile reflux post sleeve
Beach Lover replied to Jessica Fountain Peterson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is he using an acid reducer? I'm guessing he is and if so I would strongly suggest a different doctor. The spitting sounds like the reaction after eating to much. My guess is he probably isn't eating to much and you need to look into why this is happening. His doctors lack of concern with all of the misery is disconcerting. He had done wonderful with his weight loss but he shouldn't be having all this trouble at this time and really does need to be looked at. I hope he feels better soon and you are a great wife for looking out for him. -
My Dr. Says If I Gain 1 More Pound I Will Be Given An Extra Month Visit But....
Beach Lover replied to KeeWee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would have to do my own thing and eat the 2 meals. With that said you have to make up your own mind for what is good for you with weight loss. Are your food choices wise to the diet your NUT has given you? You are trying to do 2 things that are really tough at the same time. Quitting the cigarettes is really tough and the go to fix is food. You have to pick some really low caloric items like fresh veggies to snack on. The reason I say I would do my own thing is as I said the 2 things combined are really really tough to balance and I would have to do what works for me but doing it wisely. Your NUT doesn't seem to understand what you are trying to accomplish and putting more stress on you with threats just makes it worse. Hang in there and just try to figure out what you can do to compliment the 2 life changes. You can do it!! -
Hair Experiment Outcome!
Beach Lover replied to Beach Lover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your right it is a bit expensive. I didn't start using this until I was almost 4 months post op. Save your money for now and if you want to do something later you might consider it. -
So about 6 weeks ago I bought some shampoo and conditioner from my stylist that was supposed to help with hair regrowth. My stylist swore by the stuff and wasn't pushing the product on me. I had to make him order it for me. It is a follicle stimulator it does not stop hair from falling out. It stimulates follicles to begin growing hair again in areas such as pattern baldness areas and or stimulate hair to grow faster when it has fallen out from normal shedding etc. I had him part my hair in a bunch of different areas and sure enough I have a ton of 1 inch hairs growing all over the place!! I am very very happy with the outcome of this shampoo and will continue using it. If you color your hair no worries it is very gentle on it. I didn't do anything to my color. You can order it on Amazon.

OMG this is even better!!! Definitely give her some clothes that might fit her! I would also make sure you take some pictures of her just as she is about to take a bite of pie! I always hated pictures of me and definitely if I was eating something! I guess this makes me bit#$y......oh well! I guess there is a little of it in all of us! I would love to be a fly on the wall!! -
Hair Experiment Outcome!

Sorry! I thought I put that on there! It is called Revita. -
hair loss happens to most of us. The severity is definitely different with each person. I am a mild case because I am getting in all my Protein and probably just lucky. I also take Biotin daily and use Revita shampoo and conditioner. This shampoo does not stop hair loss but is a follicle stimulator which helps the hair to begin growing quicker. It has helped me a lot and can be bought on Amazon. Another thing you can do is take zinc. You might start the biotin and zinc now to get your hair in a healthier state. Good luck to you.

This is totally normal. Surgery can be scary and make a person very nervous. On top of that you know you are about to say goodbye to your old friend.......food. Equate it to a smoker giving up cigarettes......they can be really testy when they are going through withdrawal. I will tell you in the beginning there are many emotional moments especially after the surgery. With that said though it is all worth it. Good luck to you!!

If the coverage is equal or better than I would say it's a no brainer! The next year do you have the option of going back to your work insurance or will it have to be a life altering event in order to do it? If you didn't check that out you might want to.

Wow! 2 leaks and the second one at 18 weeks post op! I hope this one closes quickly and you can move on with your life! Please keep us posted! -
You have been very lucky! I guess there is a first time for everything. Get an OTC that should take care of it. Nothing fun about them that's for sure!

What DestinClair1983 is saying is correct. Antibiotics are notorious for this happening! In addition if you are on birth control pills it messes with the effectiveness for that month as well.

Bariatric Pal Colors Are Dull And Boring

Is it just me or is the colors on this forum putting you to sleep. It makes me feel like blah blah blah................... They need to change these colors because IMHO they do not make a person want to stay on here for very long. -

I am sure you are right. We just need some time to get used to it and vent our frustrations. Will we get the use of our tickers back? -
