It is very true that acid mimics hunger and the acid reducer is the magic cure. I take 1 in the morning and sometimes 1 in the evening. I used to take it in the evening all the time but don't seem to need it as much now. The miralax is something that a lot of people take daily or colace which is what I take every morning to avoid the dreaded constipation.

Got A Little Cocky With My Sleeve Today
Beach Lover replied to Bombs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You live and learn! I think it is all part of the process. I do eat slower now and smaller bites. But I too had to learn the hard way as most of us do. Why........Because eating fast and larger bites seems to be a common problem we all have had pre op and need to learn the new way by what else........Trial and error. Best of luck to you!! -
Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!
Beach Lover replied to need2bthin!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have posted this before but here it goes. I am using Revita shampoo and conditioner. This will not stop loss but it is a follicle stimulator that causes regrowth quicker and stimulates follicles that haven't grown hair in a long time. My stylist told me about it and I have been using it for about 2 months now. I went to him a couple of weeks ago and had him check my head for regrowth and it is all over the place including areas that were thin before the surgery. This stuff is working for me and I am going to continue using it. You can buy it on Amazon for about $35.00 for both shampoo and conditioner. I figured if I am losing I can grow at the same time and it is working. Good luck to all of you. -
Yay!! Good for you!!

I Lived Through This Surgery, My Sister Didn't.
Beach Lover replied to LyndseyD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Lyndsey, I am just now reading this thread and I want to say how sorry I am for your families loss. This is a terrific blow to your family and especially her husband and children. She is very fortunate to have such a wonderful sister who is speaking out for her. If it were me I too would want you to speak out and sound the alarm for the good and bad of this surgery. Please do not feel guilty because you are here and she isn't. I don't think she would want you to feel this way. My guess is you are going to be there to help pick up the pieces and help her husband with the care for their beautiful children. Who else would she want to do that? Your being healthy and strong is going to be needed and you should not take away your accomplishment in this for the horrible tragedy of her loss. I wouldn't want you to feel this way and I am sure she wouldn't either. Go forward speak for her and don't beat yourself up! God Bless you and your family as you deal with the loss of a beautiful person. -
Pain in hips (constipation?)
Beach Lover replied to linarestribe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would have to agree if you are that constipated that the pressure is affecting some nerves. We don't have the padding anymore and IMHO I would think the pressure is closer to the nerves. Still not a doctor though! -
How To Tell Caring People To Just Shut Up!?
Beach Lover replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If it's your daughter and she makes a comment to you internally realize she is just say "I love you, I'm proud of you and I want it to work for you." Then in a loving way explain to her that you know she means best but you got this, thank you for the concern and I love you but please hold some of the comments back. -
Anyone Tried Cool Sculpting?

Pain in hips (constipation?)
Beach Lover replied to linarestribe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had hip pain as well and still do from time to time especially if I do a lot of walking. I am sure somewhere in all of this the surgery and our bodies changing has something to do with it. I also think our carrying all the extra weight for so many years has something to do with it as well and maybe some arthritis as well. I am certainly not a doctor so this is strictly my opinion but just think of the pain you would have years down the road with the extra weight. I find tylenol helps it. -
Thanksgiving Challenge And My Thank You To Bea!
Beach Lover posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I did the Halloween Challenge and exceeded my goal which I was absolutely joyful for. The challenge not only allowed me to actually track and see what I am doing (didn't really watch it this way before) but it gave me a focus and a goal that made it fun with all my forum sleeving friends. I am now doing the Thanksgiving Challenge and fingers crossed I should make that goal. If not I will be close.......this was a short one. I will give it my best!! Yesterday I went to Sam's with my daughter to pick up some needed items. As a rule sweets don't rule over me. In fact, most of the time I can turn a dessert down with little effort but put an appetizer in front of me and that is a killer! Anyway.........As we were going through the bakery section I had the most overwhelming desire to buy and eat all of it!!!!! I was actually dropping the f bomb as I walked through the stuff!!! It must of been a momentary mental breakdown!! I didn't buy any of it but I sure did swear my way through it!! You know what came into my mind first and foremost?????? My Thanksgiving Challenge and making my goal!!! I want to thank you Bea for caring about all of us and spending your time to help us make our sleeves successful with a bit of fun added in it!! You weren't with me yesterday but you were! Today, I am sitting here another pound lighter and feeling a sense of accomplishment because I didn't partake of the yummy badness that was tempting me yesterday. You have spent your time each week updating our charts and cheering each of us on. I know I speak for many of us in thanking you for everything you have done for us!! I can't wait to start the New Years one!! Your the best Bea!!! :) -
I paid $10,500 in Boca Raton, Florida with an outstanding surgeon. You are paying way to much! I know of at least 5 people that used him and none of us have had any complications and the hospital was wonderful. This is all inclusive with tests, nutritionist, 2 days in the hospital etc. His name is Dr. Shillingford and you can google him. I checked him out extensively before my surgery and he had absolutely nothing but good reports. Best of luck to you!

Any Sleeves In Florida?
Beach Lover replied to Essence33's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
He really is a great surgeon and good person. His office staff bends over backwards to help you. I know of at least 5 others who had used him and we all had easy recoveries. One person flew in from another state. You can google him. Good luck with your search! -

I don't have a Trader Joe's that is close to home so my daughter and I took a day trip to Gainsville for my first trip to Trader Joe's. I couldn't believe all of the different cheese's to chose from. I bought a goat cheese log with cranberries and I can't wait to try it! I sampled the one with apple pie on it and it was divine! My daughter bought that one. I thought the store would be bigger than it was and they told me it was one of the bigger ones. It still had a lot of good stuff and I will go back again. Can anyone tell me some of the things they have tried that are really good and would work with lower carb choices?

Weight Loss Has Slowed But Inches Lost Have Added Up
Beach Lover replied to jacee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! You have done a fantastic job and I have no doubt your looking terrific!! I am the same way with the compliments. If you are losing inches then you are still losing even if it's not showing up on the scale. I would imagine since you are down to the last 40 pounds then it will come off slower but the inches keep doing the job!! -
Can you still eat in restaurants?
Beach Lover replied to 2ndChanceHeth's topic in Food and Nutrition
Can you pay by the pound? At Golden Corral you can do that. It might be worth a try and you would save a lot of money that way. You can pick out what you want to eat and have them weigh it and just pay for what you are actually eating. -

I bought the TJ White Zinfandel and plan on trying that with my family for Thanksgiving. I also found some scallops and mushrooms that looked like they worth a try so I will have those this week. -

Can you still eat in restaurants?
Beach Lover replied to 2ndChanceHeth's topic in Food and Nutrition
This is what I had for dinner not to long ago. I ate the lobster, a few bites of the broccoli cheese casserole and some of my salad. I had the tea put in a to go cup to drink later. It was delicious and very satisfying!! There is life after puree!! -
Hang in there! You have lost a lot of weight and with that comes confidence and possibilities! Maybe you will be the one off the market quickly. Keep yourself busy and try to get out and socialize. Maybe take some classes of interest that you would like to have done but put off. Join your friends for an evening out! Healing will take some time but you can do it! Hugs!!
