This Is Pathetic, But I Really Need Some Encouragement
Beach Lover replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear about your daughter and the car accident. Thankfully she is okay. It seems life can really pour it on sometimes and we can only ride it through. I truly hope everything works out for you with the mental health clinic. Don't be humiliated everyone and I do mean everyone at some point needs a hand up. That is what they are there for. Years ago I was in similar circumstances and needed a hand up. We all do. Hang in there and I truly hope everything works out for you. -

Two Things On My Mind.
Beach Lover replied to Satchel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been using a straw since I was 3 month post op with my surgeons permission. No problems at all! At 11 months post op you should be able to eat popcorn now. Just beware that it is empty carbs but an occasional treat is not a problem. -

This Is Pathetic, But I Really Need Some Encouragement
Beach Lover replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah.. for $2200 a month. Ha! Whoa!!!!!!! That is crazy expensive!! You have some really great responses to your med needs. I would suggest you start with the drug samples from the doctor and then move on to some of the other suggestions. I feel confident that something can be done to help you out though. The good news is your husband does have another job! Just trying to look on the bright side. -
This Is Pathetic, But I Really Need Some Encouragement
Beach Lover replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
He should be able to use Cobra. It is expensive but it should be an option. What about just paying the cost of the meds without insurance? That might be cheaper than the Cobra if you can't get the insurance. You might also talk to your doctor and see if he has samples in his office. Drug reps usually give them samples. I can't help but think there is a way to fix this problem. Best of luck to you! -

Beach Lover replied to hbeasley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you spoken with him about his possibly being afraid that you will get thin and leave him? He might not want to verbalize it but still be totally afraid that you will leave him. Just a thought. -

I am just about 6 months post op and have not had 1 carbonated drink yet. I have craved them from time to time but never drank one. -

The Uncomfortable Truth....
Beach Lover replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are well on your way to a successful weight loss story! This is exactly what is needed to make this work!! We are addicts of food using the food to mask our pain, happiness etc. No different than an alcoholic or drug addict. Same outcome of medicating what bothers us. You have to look back in life as you go through this journey and fix what didn't work! Otherwise it is just a diet with a little help that will end up with some regain. With that said regain can also be used to learn from. Why did that happen? Many circumstances in life can bring us to being food addicts it's a matter of decoding it. I had a mother in the hospital a lot when I was young and spent many days being the mother. I gained weight as a child through this part of my life trying to feel better. Lost it as a teenager and regained it later because of an injury. The regain wasn't that bad but my mind wouldn't let me see it that way. I got depressed and gained more on top of it! The sleeve has allowed me to lose the weight and begin to feel good about myself again. I have realized that my body image has made me a prisoner for to long and will no longer be a slave to it. I am working on finding other ways to feel better about daily life issues, and the serious ones. Food is not the answer taking the problems head on in a realistic manor is what is working for me. In addition I have learned that carbs really are an enemy for me. They take me down a path of destructive thinking about my abilities and make me want them more. Learning yourself and how to make the changes is what it is all about! Thank you for this thread it has helped me to further validate myself and what I have to do and be for a successful me! -
Can The Sleeve End A Lifetime Of Yo-Yo?
Beach Lover replied to tiredmama's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I think the sleeve makes the yo yoing effect easier to overcome. However, it will be up to you to make sure that you don't regain. I know you have heard the phrase "The sleeve is a tool to help you." That is true, you can eat around your sleeve and regain the weight. Hopefully, during the first year you will have retrained your eating skills and learned more about what you did in the past and improve it. That is truly what it is all about. Many are successful and some are not. It will be up to you! -
Considering Liposuction
Beach Lover replied to chibabyy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Definitely wait until you have reached and maintained your goal weight. Your body is going to change so many times before you reach goal. In addition remember when you take fat cell out of one area of your body your body will readjust and any weight gain will be in another part of your body (not that you will gain). Extra weight on the body is always better in the lower extremities than the middle. By the time you reach goal your thighs will be so much thinner and you will probably just want to get rid of the extra skin by then. -
The Food Police Were Out In Full Force Yesterday!
Beach Lover replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you looked up the salads at chilis, pF Chang, California pizza kitchen, macaroni grill etc? The salads all have 1200 calories or more. Almost nothing in those places is low enough for one person to eat for one meal. When I go out with friends who think "they'll just have a salad" I want to scream at them to look them up for calories, and order some nice salmon and broccoli already! So far I have (wo)manfully restrained myself. We truly live in an obesogenic environment in this country. Salads are the big fooler!! If you actually look at what is in those things you would go for the burger (without the bun)! I have taken to having my salad dressing on the side and have found that I enjoy my salad much more. I can't believe how much dressing I actually leave behind now. -

I remember your post and I think you handled it very well. If nice doesn't work then a stand up approach was needed. I didn't think you were eating more than you should. Just enjoying the feast in a sleeved way. -
Extremely Discouraged.....
Beach Lover replied to mamoojack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing fantastic! Don't worry about the stalls they happen and your body is still busy restructuring to gear up for the next loss. So things are happening even if the scale isn't showing it! If you didn't take your body measurements pre op do so now. When you aren't losing on the scale you are in the inches. This is still losing weight and part of the process. I would also suggest that you keep up 35 carbs a day. Carbs will slow down weight loss. My doctor once told me "You will lose weight the body will not win over the math." He was right........I am 6 months out and have lost over 70 pounds now. Hang in there you got this!!
