  1. I am going to make a cup now and see what it heats up to. I heated it for 90 seconds and it went to 150 so maybe I should back it down to a minute. But it make sense that you can cook meat and eggs and still have protein.
  2. Thanks! I had read that but wasn't sure if the last part pertained to us. I love my premier protein shakes with my coffee and a little sf caramel machiatto (mispelled) in it. I heat it in the microwave and wasn't sure if it ruined the protein. I know Injury says we can't heat protein up past 130 but I wander if that ruins the consistency of the product and not the protein.

    Self image, anger, & resentment

I have been married to my husband for 32 years and started dating him when I was 14 years old. Now this man has known me for more of my life than not. He has seen every up and down the scale I have ever done. He has always loved me for who I am irregardless of my size. Size has never stopped him from wanting sex and he has always loved me no matter how big I was. With that said after I started losing weight he stepped up his touchy huggy ways! I took this in a positive way from him. His attention was that of a man that was appreciating the new me and happy for the healthy person that I had become. I don't know your relationship and would never advice you on how to handle your man but based onall the threads I have read on this topic and my own experience I would say he is reacting pretty much the same way most of our men have done. You might have other issues to deal with we don't know but this reaction of his isn't uncommon so hang in there!! Mine actually drove me nuts and I say that with exasperation and a smile because I know I do look better and he was affirming it. Good luck to you and your husband!!

    What causes regain?

I haven't reached goal yet but I have already decided that maintaining will not be any different than my life right now. We can never return to the people we used to be because it didn't work for us. I am going to continue with what has been working and be very conscious of what my patterns are. Being honest with ourselves it the best gift we can give ourselves.
  5. This was a game changer for me! The only regret I ever had was momentary right after the surgery and this is very very common. You think you made the biggest mistake of your life but it quickly goes away. When I had the surgery I literally turned away from my old life and will not allow any of my past behaviors back into my life. I try to be very aware of my mental thoughts that govern my eating habits. Thanksgiving was a lot easier than I what I was expecting. I ate what I wanted which didn't amount to much which was only a momentary bummer. Later I allowed myself a piece of pie and it wasn't cheating because I planned it for myself. That is a big difference from the old me. Eating something because I wanted it versus eating something because I planned it allowed me to enjoy it without regret. NO regrets for me!

    I love olives

I think a lot of us have craved the little green deliciousness of them!! I still eat them with my lunches and have been known to pop one in during the day just for a little treat!

    Any last minute advice?

Congratulations your new life is about to begin! When you go to the hospital wear very loose clothes. You will only be in them a short time and can wear them home. Take a pillow for your stomach when you travel home, GasX strips, toiletries, chapstick, phone, and some spare undergarments. That is all you will need. You will have to stay in the hospital gown because of the IV you can use a 2nd hospital gown for a house coat and they give you nonskid socks to walk around in. I was so loopy from the pain meds they give you that using my computer was a joke. I can't even remember watching the tv even though I know it was on. Ask your preop nurse for a private room if you can get one this is when they assign you your room. When you are post op ask your floor nurse for the flavored sponges they are fantastic for rehydrating your mouth and lips.........a lifesaver to me! The liquid diet sucks but honestly I drank diet soda all day with other things because I knew I was saying goodbye to it. I ate normal Soups but just ate the broth out of them and rahman broth is pretty good even though is has a lot of sodium in it. I really didn't care I was looking for some flavor. Your going to do great!! Keep us posted! One more thing...........Don't trust a fart!!!

    Fullness guilt

I think we all have this problem to some extent. Stuffing ourselves to a miserable point is something I dare say we are all familiar with. With that came the horrible guilty feelings from realizing what we just did. Unfortunately this is something we have to work past. With our sleeve it isn't hard to recreate those old stuffed feelings and we automatically want to beat ourselves up even though we did nothing wrong. Until you are totally healed this stuffed feeling happens a lot you will learn the signs that you are approaching full. Remember even if you ate until you were feeling overfull your stomach is swollen still and you aren't eating a lot! You just have to learn the signs such as a runny nose, sneezing or hiccups. Best wishes for you!!
  9. I would suggest Vanilla Premier protein shakes instead of the OptiFast. I did those years ago and couldn't stick with them. Premier shakes give you 30g of protein 160 calories very little sugar and almost no fat. Best thing is the fact that they are delicious! You can buy them at Sam's, Costco, BJ's etc. Sam's has the screw top one's at a good price. You can try a 4 pack at Walmart I saw them there the other day. Good luck to you!
  10. Wonderful results!! Keep up the great job!!

    June Post Ops!

I was wondering if my fellow June sleevers were beginning to see a slow down with their weight loss. Mine has slowed down but not completely stalled. I am working diligently to keep the loss going by adding more exercise to my routine and staying away from the carbs. If you are slowing down or something is different please let us all know!! Knowledge is power and most helpful to help us reach our goals! Good Luck to you all!!

To My Fellow June 2013 Revisions

I was sleeved June 7th and have lost 85 pounds so far. I started out as a 22/24 and 2x tops. I'm now a size 14 and can wear a large top. I am very happy with my sleeve and have seriously had no problems at all. I would say the head hunger was the worst thing to get past! I too wish I had done this earlier in my life but all things in God's timing. I have noticed a little bit of a slow down now with the weight loss and have added more exercise to my routine. I have 49 pounds to lose to reach goal and I am determined to do it! I want to lose another 10 pounds after that for safety measures. I absolutely love shopping off the regular racks especially with my daughters! I am determined to make sure that the rest of my life will be at a healthy weight and I am always looking for new foods to change things up. I have resolved myself to a low carb life because I have realized that I am a carbaholic and it doesn't take much for me to start craving the darn things. Why torture myself! Life is good and I hope you all find yourselves in the same place!!

To My Fellow June 2013 Revisions

It sounds like you are doing fantastic! I am not a revision but from every post I have read it seems that the losing is a little slower than someone who was just sleeved. With that factoring in you are doing wonderfully! Congratulations on your success!

    Any Florida Sleevers?

congratulations on your surgery! I live in Palm Coast and the grandmother of 3 and soon to be 4! You will love your sleeve and new life!
  17. I love my Premier Protein drinks in my coffee it really adds flavor and helps to change up the protein drink. I never warm my coffee in the microwave for more than 90 seconds. Do you think that it could ruin the protein? I never heat it to the point that I couldn't drink it right away.

    Stinkin Exclusion....

I definitely would avoid Care Credit. I used them once for my dog who had to have extensive surgery and the interest rate goes up so I paid it off as fast as I could. There is definitely better ways to go. No offense to any who have used it though because if it was my last option for the surgery I would have done it!

    Stinkin Exclusion....

I had an exclusion as well and ended up being self pay. I was very fortunate to find a doctor in Boca Raton that charged me $10,500. This includes all tests, surgery, 2 day hospital stay and a year of follow up care with a nutritionist. He has had many people fly in to have their surgery and he did a great job! Dr. Shillingford you can google him if you want. Good luck with your journey!

Fear of not losing enough weight

I am 7 months post op and have lost 83 pounds so far. This would not have happened without my sleeve to help me. I have tried it all only to regain what I lost plus more. I still have some to lose and I am confident that it will happen. I will tell you the one thing I am learning at this point in my journey. In the first 6 months you have to really identify what needs to be improved upon in your life to continue this for the rest of your life. When the losing slows down you have to call upon your own strength and learned knowledge to stay successful. Losing will continue but it will be more dependent on your ability to squelch your old habits. With that said you do grow stronger and develop habits that make this easier than before the surgery. You also find yourself yearning your old foods and have to fight that. Basically cravings for foods really never go away but if you have learned to eat healthier and replace those old foods it is much easier to say no to the old ones. I love my new life and still crave some old ways but the difference now is I can say NO to the old stuff much easier than I ever could. You can do this and will love what you did for yourself!
  22. Honestly this show just breaks my heart!!! I am so grateful for my sleeve and the change I have made for my life. I really hope this woman has a happy ending to this journey of hers!!
  23. She is band to sleeve!! I wish her the very best!! I agree she should definitely stay with that doctor. He doesn't let her off the hook!
  24. She really needs help and I hope it works for her! It would be awesome if they communicated with us on the forum!! I would love to be a support for her!
