Annoyed with Spouse and some Friends

My husband starting appreciating what I do when I started traveling for work and he had to do it alone! Sad it takes that but it did. And that was a true story...he actually told me to eat turkey sandwiches...

30 day, 100% RAW FOOD challenge

You don't mind celery juiced? I prefer to use more kale and spinach. I just bought the omega vert masticating juicer and love it. Green juice is my breakfast now and an evening snack. Lunch and dinner still lean protein and 50 calorie pitas. I also like Bert juice, carrot, red cabbage, apple, spinach and ginger.

It's hard when you already have so much on your plate! My husband is supportive but eats whatever he wants in front of me. He ordered pizza when I was on liquids which irritated me. He's in pretty good shape an just doesn't know what I go through struggling to loose weight. When I decided on surgery, he said "its up to you but I think it's crazy! Just stop eating so much. Eat a turkey sandwich everyday and Water and you will loose weight" first off, I am not Jarod or my face woud be all over those commercials! He may not realize how difficult your weight loss is bc he's never been in your shoes. Just be a little selfish and focus on you!

I am sorry you aren't getting the full support you need. Maybe get someone in the gym who works there to show you some techniques. They may have affordable sessions with a trainer too which solves both problems bc you will have an appt and know you need to go. I just a precor elliptical so I can do cardio from home! I need to push myself bc I need to and can't rely on others whims. Glad to hear your are already getting geared for the journey. Don't let anyone get ya down

    6 days till surgery

Where in broward are you? I am in Davie. Had my procedure with dr Sosa
  10. I just googled "slimming" because I had a different procedure and don't experience ths...let's just say, there's lots of different definitions of slimming which are NOT wls related tat I could have lived without every knowing!
  11. That sounds awful for you to deal with- call doctor.going back to liquids to tolerate food might be good until you are checked out.
  12. Awesome! Congrats on the new you! Your doc did a great job. Are you 5 months out from the tuck or from wls? Thanks for sharing pics
  13. I hadn't really tracked my calories before surgery (unless I was hot and heavy on some diet) but not immediately leading up to my surgery. Looking back, I was probably averaging 2500 calories a day with days topping 3000 and other days closer to 2000 (when I cook more and don't eat out). Now I am between 1000-1200 at 7 weeks out. What about you?

    I feel so frustrated

If you search here for stalls, you are not alone! It is normal and it is frustrating for sure! Been stalled for a few weeks now myself
  15. You look healthy and beautiful. The last pounds off are the hardest! I am not far enough out to give great advise but some longer out are doing a 5/2 diet. Google it if it sounds like something that could work for you. Increased exercise is always good and lower carbs as general rules.

How hard is it not to feel jaded?

Thanks for all the honest responses. I enjoyed the perspective provided. I can see how all the things that are frustrating would be just that! This is why I asked because while I haven't been here long I observe patterns (I am an auditor so that might explain it). Just a thought but can you create a private vet forum or some other area that is private so you can vent in a productive manner? I certainly didn't post over here to kick the sand in the sandbox but the question I had was geared toward the small group who have hung around here after a year plus so I thought it was the right place to post logistically speaking. Thanks again everyone for weighing in.
  18. I have read many posts which sound like the weight loss tapered off around 5/6 month range but I was wondering if the results are different depending on the total amount of weight loss you need and where you are relative to goal or if it's really just time driven. In other words, do people slow down weight loss because they are closer to goal or because after 6 months, your body adjust to the new caloric intake? I have read people who are less than 50% to their goal and stop losing even with 50-100 pounds left to go. That makes me wonder if time is the bigger factor and if so, are you more likely to reach goal if your total weight loss target is less. Thoughts? If you hit the preverbial wall, where were you in your weight loss journey- how many months out, how much weight loss and how much left to go?
  19. I have a job which requires pretty extensive international travel, which partly contributed to my weight gain over the past 3 years (gained 40 pounds). Eating out on an expense account 3 meals a day for 15-17 days straight in countries where there is no such thing as skim milk or even artificial sweeteners on the table is challenging to say the least. Ths year alone, I was in Russia, Poland, Turkey and Indonesia (all pre-op) and am heading to Spain at the end of July, followed by the UK in september and France and Turkey again in October and possibly Greece or Malta in December! Now I am 4 weeks out, feeling good and obsessively tracking every calorie I eat which is way more managble with every meal prepared by me. I am stressed about eating out while traveling and I don't have that small of a capacity albeit much smaller than pre-op but I don't get full that easy (6-8 ounces of food is no problem). I do plan to pack Protein shakes and maybe some Protein Bars. I want to at least replace Breakfast and lunch and only eat dinner out. I should also mention I am a big foodie loving to experience fine dining and wine and always adored finding the most amazing restaurants when I travel and trying foods I have never had before. For anyone who travels abroad, how do you manage? Any other suggestions on food to pack?
  20. Very interesting article which have answered my other question of weight loss plateauing at 6 months. Maybe that's the approximate amount of time fr the body to adjust to lower calorie intake. This portion of the article: This means that a given reduction in caloric intake (let’s say eating 500 calories less per day) will only result in weight loss for as long as it takes the body to decrease its daily caloric needs by that amount. Unfortunately, this generally occurs within a few weeks of starting your diet (as the body loses weight and hormonal changes kick in to reduce energy metabolism). This is when you stop losing weight, despite still eating 500 calories less than before. To start losing weight again, you would now need to reduce your calories even further, but even then weight loss would once again stop as the body adjusts to even fewer calories. (This is why people who have bariatric surgery, despite consuming far fewer calories than before, don’t simply continue losing weight till they disappear).
  21. Getting close to my first trip post op and getting together my rations! Kashi, Protein bars and Protein drinks and oatmeal packs. Will get fresh fruit in the hotel. Just leaves 1 meal a day out hopefully. I have never been to Madrid so I am hoping I have ample healthy options available. I just do so much better from home than when I travel (pre-surgery) so still stressing...
  22. That's awesome! It sounds like you are close to goal and hit the time mark close together! Will be interesting to see if others slowed at 6 months even being further out from goal

Sorry for posting here as a newbie. I was just curious how you feel seeing the same types of posts over and over but you have experience long term.
