  1. I have my follow-up visit with the doctor tomorrow and I'm developing a list of questions to ask. Here is what I have come up with so far: 1) when can I expect to have a bowel movement (gross but have not had one since day before surgery)? 2) when can I return to normal physical activity such as working out, bending, lifting, etc 3) when can I go off Clear liquids and start to introduce Protein shakes and other liquids or dairy? 4) when can I go swimming 5) other than ibuprofen and aspirin what medications can I not take (malaria pills, any antibiotics, etc) 6) when can I introduce certain things into my diet - coffee, alcohol, spicy foods 7) when can I expect for the pain to be gone 8) when will my stomach be considered completely healed Is there anything else I should ask?
  2. Probably taste as crappy as the liquid Protein I drink! I take solid Vitamins, omeprezole pill, a pain pill and drink around 32-48 ounces of clear liquid plus 5 tablespoons of protein. I started to make a list of questions for my doctor tomorrow. I think it is normal to have many questions post surgery and have been thinking about the things you mentioned. I think you would look cute with short hair so I say go for it! It will be a whole new look for your new body
  3. Oh wow, you can have almond milk and Protein drinks already! I am still on Clear Liquids and protein shots, which are vile! Can you swallow Vitamins? Or with the sleeve, do pills not absorb as well? I had a different procedure but similar in some ways so our post op could be different.
  4. I didn't go on liquids 2 weeks out so don't think it should impact surgery date but for sure, you can't cheat at all for 2 days out! The other advise is very good. I struggle with wanting food not for coping but because I am a huge foodie and travel all over the world for work and eating different foods was such an exciting thing for me so I had to come to terms with the lifestyle change. Good luck!
  5. Hey, I had my procedure the same day! I ad a horrific post op experience in the hospital though and am still very sore and can't bend over and it hurts to get up from sitting so my immediate concerns are more with the healing and praying there's nothing wrong and the pain goes away soon! I was just reading in the plastic surgery threads and started to worry about needing plastic surgery later (terrified to ever go through another surgery). Losing my hair never really crossed my mind but I have read people who experienced it so it's a real concern. I have extremely thick hair so hoping I can ride that out! So yes, I am thinking about the same things and anxious to feel better and start seeing results!

    Good protein shake

Awesome! Thanks so much. I will check out nectar and matrix too! I am dropping a lot of coin on sampling but that's ok. Will be happy to find what works best for me.

    Good protein shake

Thanks! I already ordered sampler packs of chike, unjury, and Jay Robb Proteins to try and the PB2 and pb2 with chocolate. Not sure when I will be on Protein shakes but started to order a few different types. I saw you mentioned muscle milk light too from costco which I am a member of, so I will likely try them out too. Any others you suggest for early post op?

    Good protein shake

You can mix it with apple sauce or a beverage but it's strong tasting so I prefer to get it over with and just power it down.

    Good protein shake

Yes protein shots I guess. The one I am taking is from my doctor and it's called Proteinex P15 pre digested Liquid Protein. It tastes gross but it's easy to swallow down a tablespoon and chase with a little swallow of juice or crystal light or Gatorade

    Good protein shake

I am still only a few days out and on Clear Liquids with protein liquid so I am not at all knowledgable on the subject but was wondering, could you simple take a tablespoon of protein liquid? It tastes vile but it's packed with protein, no carbs and no sugar, no sorbitol and no fat. 2tbl has 15 grams of protein and 60 calories. Would be easy way to add straight protein. What do you think?
  12. Very good resource-thanks! I just ordered three different brands of sampler packs.
  13. Wow-how awesome! I never thought I would look forward to protein shakes. I just ordered a few different sampler protein mixes and a six pack of SF flavored syrups! Thanks so much for sharing
  14. Hello all, I am new to this forum but have been lurking a bit pre-op. I had the gastric plication surgery (laparoscopic) on 5/29/13 and got home yesterday 5/31/13. I realize the NUT that I saw probably isn't the optimal consultant as my pre surgery appt with her was a group appointment primarily consisting of people getting bypass surgery or lapband so half the things she talked about, she would follow up with "this doesn't apply to you" and the post op diet plan she gave me is for lapband surgery! Basically, all I have consumed is low sugar apple juice, Water, and liquid Protein (which is vile) and my Vitamin, acid reducer and pain meds. Where I need some advice is regarding how and when to introduce a more palpable protein option like a shake and what kind you would recommend. I dont have my followup visit to the NUT until june 6th, which will be by phone and i really dont want to wait to try a better option. Any and all advice greatly appreciated! Also when do you guys successfully introduce Soups other than broth into your diet? I would love tomato Soup or carrot/cashew soup (non chunky soups) as I despise Jello and clear broths! Thanks
  15. Thanks everyone! I was dissappointed with the NUT but the doctor is very good and they were a packaged deal. I am fine on Clear Liquids and will definitely stay with them until I see my doc on follow up next week. Glad this forum is open to other wls patients since I didn't see a good plication specific site (only one for a specific surgery center). Seems like there are good tips and advise here for anyone battling the buldge
  16. Thanks-I didn't realize this forum was exclusively for sleeved patients. I will look for resources specific to plication.
