I have had an idea since posting the first one. Here goes! We can each get some independent cards made up with our own before and after pix made up (so they will know that it is really us). Maybe the left half could be B/A pix and the right half could be a SHORT success story with the LBT.com address and our first name and cell phone number for their support and questions. No confrontation, no embarrassment for them, just a quick walk up slip of a business card and walk away. It is up to them if they want to explain to their companions what the business card was about, and it is up to them to call and make the first "step". They are still taking the action to get something done, this is just a jump start so to speak! Hows a bout it??? you think it might work?

Yea, I wonder what the ratio of male/female we have here on the LBT? I think there should be some male representation on the graphics too! Maybe someones Great before/after shot... say, like chris_nj or someone...

I don't care about scars. I just didn't know what I should have done. I guess closing it up with super glue may have not been the best option, but it is done now! So far, so good. I will keep an eye on it for the next couple of days... I hope I cleaned it well enough:omg: -
A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
TxArcher replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh... I know what you mean! My doc put me on mushies yesterday and for lunch, I had Taco Bueno's refried beans. MAN WAS THAT TASTY!!! I even added a lil cup of hot sauce. I could not even finish it! Today, I had Jalapeño Vienna sausages and green peas! -
So... Ya wanna see something pretty cool? (WARNING! Surgery pics)
TxArcher posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So I talked my surgeon into snapping some pictures of my surgery while I was under the knife! He didn't get as many as I wanted, but he did what he could under the circumstances. You can see the stitched up area where my Hiatal Hernia was. also you can see the band as it has been wrapped around the stomach in 3 different stages. Open, Closed and Secured. I intentionally left this picture large as not to diminish the quality so you folks can see the details. Hey, It is not every day you get to look at your own guts! Why not take the chance, right?:rolleyes:rolleyes: -

care explain this one? -
Yes Mary, A fill is exactly that... an adjustment. It is done with a shot of Novocaine to numb the area, and then the big needle. It goes into the port and injects the saline to fill the band a couple cc's or so.There is some swelling of the stomach tissue that must first go down. Also, there is some loss of the "fatty pad" that is on the stomach and the band rests on top of this "pad". This is why most docs wait 5 or 6 weeks to do the first fill. Hope this helps, Craig

Banded 11-28-07 -- First fill 1-9-08. I just had my 1 week post op this morning and they were pleased with the weight drop of 15 lbs since the pre op appointment. that takes me to a total of 35 lbs lost!!! I can eat about 5 oz. of mushies now and I am full. I wonder if that is restriction or if I am still swollen from having the band fitted????

Just had my One week post op visit this morning. Down 15 lbs from my PRE op visit! That puts me at 365!!!! Down from 400 max!!!! 35 lbs Baby!!! Yes I am a born and bred Pure TEXAN! I currently live in Waco, but I grew up just SW of Ft. Worth. Love Texas, but hate the summers here! Maybe once I don't have all this insulation, the summers here won't be so bad... gotta do some work now, I just had to share!!!! -

I just went through the 2 week pre op diet and the thing that saved me was Chinese soups. I happen to like them already. They are broth based, clear soups. I had several dif. types of soup on my "2 slim-slows and a lean cuisine" diet. I had (my favorite) Hot Sour soup. Beef broth with several types of shrooms, toufu (high protein), bamboo shoots, minced pork or beef, and some egg. Oh man, is it good. Then there is Won Ton soup. Chicken broth with like chinese meat raviolis in it. And, not my favorite, but Egg Drop Soup is very high in protein and filling too. Chicken broth and scrambled eggs swirled into it. I lost 25 lbs in the 2 wks pre op so I don't think the soup will hurt your diet. I was also eating the quart size soups. they would make dinner for me... But it was MUCH better than the LEAN CUISINE. Good luck man, I hope the best for you! -

Wow! McQty! I am so happy for you! I get to weigh in on Wednesday at my one week post op visit to my surgeon. They have a calibrated digital scale there and I am just going to keep using that one. This will force me not to be obsessive about the scale! (i refuse to buy one) I can't wait to see what I have lost! -

Pregnant banded belly...port showing?
TxArcher replied to RockerGirl's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations on the 'lil one! My wife is due with our second just any day now! As for an answer to your question, I have no Idea. I assume it would show eventually. (your belly button will push out, why not the port) -
I don't own a scale. I am only going to use the big digital scale at the docs office. I only plan on weighing once a week. I guess that will be Wednesday's... That is the day of the week I had my surgery and there are no wed. holidays so the office will not be closed. This wed. will be my first week post op dr. visit anyway so I will get to weigh in then.

My doc suggests to cut foods... especially meats into Pea size bites. Chew each Pea size bite about 30 times... or until it is the constancy of apple sauce.

TxArcher replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Howdy to all my fellow super-size bandsters. I am officially a bandster now! I was banded on wed. Nov. 28th. My highest bmi was like 52.8. I guess I am 4 days out now and am feeling pretty good. I am not having to use the pain meds. as much now. I was getting my 3 yr. old son dressed for church this morning and he accidentally kicked me on my port incision. I went and popped a Hydrocodone and we walked out the door for church. Well about 10 min. into the service the med decided to kick in... I was all kinds of loopy in church this morning! I am already fitting into my clothes better than I did just a week ago. My out of the dryer jeans slip right on... no straining and pulling, fighting or swearing! I even had to put a belt on this morning with them because they were about to fall down if I didn't. I can't wait for the BIG changes to take place and I really get more energy and stamina for exercise and playing with my boy! I will be 30 in 6 days... What a way to celebrate being 30! A start to a whole new life! Well, the pain med has me nodding off now, so I must get some zzzzz's. Isn't that what Sunday afternoons are for anyway? -
Next step in finding the real me
TxArcher replied to ousooner's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hey, TheGhost just directed me to this thread. I was just inquiring about other men on this forum that are considering PS. I am looking forward to following your progress and cheer on your successes! I just got banded a few days ago and can not wait to make it back down to my goal weight. I havn't been there since my freshman year in High School! My Dr. and I agree that it seems like a healthy goal of 210 Lbs. I am hoping I will not have a pannus to deal with, but if I do, I want to have already had my research done for this type of surgery. Good luck on your surgery! Craig -
Any time you need any support... This is the place to be. There are a BUNCH of experienced bandsters on here that have had experiences to spread from one extreme to another. Good luck on your visit with the doc. Hope you can get your band soon!
